Disney just released some big news regarding changes to Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World, with new experiences being added! We attended the Destination D23 event in Orlando, Florida and are bringing some exciting announcements and updates about the Disney Parks straight from the biggest Disney event of the year.
At last year’s D23 Expo, Disney previously shared ideas of bringing a Zootopia or Moana-themed land to Animal Kingdom, sharing concept artwork of what this could look like. They made a slight shift to this announcement today in what they announced. Disney just announced that Indiana Jones and Encanto are coming to Animal Kingdom.
While Disney did not announce a new land based on Zootopia, they did share at this Destination D23 event that there will be a new Zootopia-inspired experience coming to Walt Disney World. Keep reading for more details on the new Zootopia offering that will be coming to Animal Kingdom!
New Zootopia Show Coming to Disney World
Disney shared at D23 that there will be a new Zootopia show coming to the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom that will replace the current show “It's Tough to be a Bug!” Disney describes the current concept as “filled with humor and action, taking you into some of the different biomes you see in the film and some you have yet to see yet.”
No opening date has yet been given for the show. We hope that they get to work on this soon. We love the “It's Tough to be a Bug!” and the songs throughout, but the Zootopia addition here should be lots of fun.
Disney also shared that the show will feature characters from the movie like Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and more! They also shared that there will be an Officer Clawhauser figure that will come with the attraction. We can only hope this will match the version that will be present in the Zootopia land coming to Shanghai Disney. See that figure below.
