There is a lot to consider when preparing for your Disney trip, from deciding the best time to visit to choosing the best hotel. Deciding what you need to bring to the parks can also be a bigger task, and it's easy to forget certain items that can end up coming in handy during your vacation.
A member of the Mickey Visit team is visiting the parks every week, and we have years of experience working out the best way to be comfortable and prepared for each trip. As we discuss in our full Disneyland packing list and Disney World packing list, a few key items can sometimes make all the difference while you are enjoying the parks.

1. Anker PowerCore 10000
One of the most important items you do not want to forget during your Disney trip is a portable charger. Bringing a portable charger is arguably one of the most important overall tips we have for when you visit the Disney parks. You use your phone for so many things during your park day, from checking wait times, making Lightning Lane reservations, and placing mobile orders via the app to taking pictures or scrolling through your phone in line.
Your battery can drain really quickly, and although you have the option to get a FuelRod portable charger in a pinch, it's so much better to plan ahead and bring your own. I forgot my own portable charger during a recent park visit, and though the FuelRod did the trick, I was really missing my Anker PowerCore 10000 charger which I've relied on for countless Disney trips.
We highly recommend getting this particular portable charger, which you can buy on Amazon and use for all of your future Disney rips (and during your travel as well). This option is lightweight, easy to fit in bags or just carry in your hand with your phone, and holds 3-4 phone charges. We really love this charger, and as you can see by the Amazon ratings, tens of thousands of other buyers do too.
2. Ponchos
There is no need to panic if you see rain on the forecast for your Disney trip, as you can have a great trip knowing how to navigate Disneyland in the rain and Disney World in the rain. However, you do want to come prepared for the rain so that you stay comfortable during your day. We actually do not recommend bringing an umbrella, as it can be clunky to navigate the parks with one and can be tedious to keep carrying around. Instead, we suggest getting a poncho to keep dry. These are lightweight and convenient to keep in your park bag until you need them.
Even if there is no rain forecast, ponchos are a smart item to bring if you're planning on going on any water rides that will get you soaked like Grizzly River Run, Kali River Rapids, or the upcoming Tiana's Bayou Adventure (this is especially important to keep in mind as summer is approaching with hotter temperatures)!
We recommend buying a poncho ahead of time to save money on this item, which can be pricier in the parks. There are several options where you get a set of ponchos for everyone in your party to use, like this best seller on Amazon that comes in a 5-pack with a few different color options.
3. Mini First Aid Kit

It's easy for little injuries to happen during your Disney trip, from your child falling and scraping their knee to blisters forming after a long day of walking. It doesn't hurt to be prepared in case this type of thing happens, as you never know!
This small emergency travel kit that you can get off of Amazon is lightweight and has everything you may need, including multiple band-aids, Neosporin, paper tape, hand cleansing wipes, and pouches of Tylenol caplets. This could come in very handy during your day at the park. We also recommend thinking ahead about any additional items you might need that you can buy in a travel size like aloe vera, Aquaphor ointment, Tums or Pepto Bismol, etc. It pays to think ahead with these kinds of things, as you can dodge a potentially stressful situation if you have everything you need easily accessible in your bag.

4. Crossbody Bag
One of the most crucial items for your Disney trip is a good park bag. With so many options out there, it can be hard to narrow down what will work best for you. Ideally, you want a medium-sized bag (avoid a bigger one so that it's not heavy to carry around or inconvenient to stow on rides) that will carry everything you need for the day. Bonus points if this bag has convenient compartments where you can store things that you will want to have easily on hand! Ultimately, the type of bag that will work best for you comes down to your personal preferences, but many will opt for a comfortable crossbody-style bag for Disney.
This WATERFLY best-selling crossbody sling backpack on Amazon is designed for hiking with an adjustable shoulder strap and convenient places to store your phone, water bottle, etc. It's a nice size so that you can store any little items you may need during the day, and the shoulder strap and back are made of breathable material to keep you cool. The backpack also comes in a variety of colors!

5. Souvenirs for Kids
As we mention in our list of the biggest mistakes parents make at Disney and tips for navigating it with kids, there is so much eye-catching merchandise at Disney that your kids are going to be drawn to all of it as soon as they step into the park. While there isn't anything wrong with getting a special Disney souvenir to remember your trip by (see the best ones we'd recommend in our guide to Disneyland souvenirs), these purchases can go over budget quickly if you're not careful. Instead, we recommend getting some gifts ahead of time at a cheaper price to give to your kids once you get to the parks.
You can find more inexpensive options for anything you think your child might be drawn to that you can buy ahead of your trip. See these best-selling glow sticks you can buy in bulk off of Amazon that you can bring for nighttime parades and spectaculars or cute Disney stuffed animals like this adorable Stitch plush toy or Mickey and Minnie set. Buying these ahead of time through Amazon will help you stick within your souvenir budget and provide a nice surprise for your kids during your vacation!
