New Disney Zootopia Land That Will Feature Massive Attraction Opening at Shanghai Disney Resort
We have all the details for what will be featured at the new Zootopia Land opening at Shanghai Disney Resort! From a new Zootopia attraction to themed entertainment, merchandise, and food offerings, the new Zootopia land will be offering incredible experiences for guests.
We will take you through details on the new offerings that will be featured at Zootopia Land in Shanghai Disney Resort which is now open.
This land was previously featured as part of the DisneylandForward proposal for Disneyland California to demonstrate the possibilities of what that rezoning effort could lead to. Though it hasn't specifically been announced for Disneyland, its impressive to see the scale and technical achievements of the land. Previously there were also rumors that this land could be coming to Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World but those rumors were squashed when the Tropical Americas section was teased to feature Encanto, Coco, and Indiana Jones and a new Zootopia theater show was announced.
Zootopia Land Opening Details
The brand new Zootopia Land opens on December 20, 2023 at Shanghai Disney Resort. This immersive new land is full of details from the Zootopia film and includes a brand new attraction, dining options, and hidden stories in every corner of the land.
The Shanghai Disney Resort celebrated the land's grand opening with a ceremony that included Bob Iger, executives from Shanghai Disney Resort and Shanghai Shendi Group, and Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and other special guests including Jared Bush, co-writer and co-director of Zootopia who is currently writing and directing the next Zootopia feature film.
“For 100 years, The Walt Disney Company has been entertaining, thrilling, and inspiring audiences and fans through exceptional storytelling that transcends generations and geographies,” said Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company. “Our popular Zootopia film continues to delight fans across the globe, especially in China, and we’re excited to give guests at Shanghai Disney Resort the chance to interact with the stories and characters they love in innovative new ways when they visit this spectacular new land.”
NEW Zootopia Land Attraction
In the new Zootopia: Hot Pursuit attraction, guests will join Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde on an “action-filled” police chase. The ride is set after the events of the Zootopia movie as residents prepare to celebrate Zootopia Day with a concert featuring Gazelle. Guests will board the all-terrain cruiser on a trackless ride system as they race through Zootopia's different districts.
The queue starts with a greeting from Officer Clawhauser for Zootopia PD orientation. This will be a next-generation Audio-Animatronic that Disney showcased previously.
However, things don't go according to plan, and guests soon learn at an emergency briefing delivered by Chief Bogo that Gazelle has been kidnapped. The figure of Chief Bogo also looks like it will utilize the same new Audio-Animatronic technology.
Guests join Officer Juddy Hopps and her partner Nick Wilde (who is now officially a police officer!) on a police chase across Zootopia's terrains—through Tundra Town, Sahara Square, Mystic Springs Oasis, and Rainforest District to safely recover Gazelle.
This looks like it will be a beautifully designed ride between all of the different terrains and with a really fun opportunity for guests to immerse themselves into the world of Zootopia.
Zootopia Land Details
Zootopia is filled with details from the film including Hibernation Hotel, the modern-style hotel where the Zootopia bears hibernate. Guests will be able to hear snoring from their cavernous rooms as they walk past!
The Artic Spa, designed for polar bears, can also be found where guests can overhear Mr. Big's henchmen discussing their plans to attend the Zootopia Day Concert.
Guests can also walk past the Beaver Dentist where they can listen to the sounds of patients having their teeth worked on!

Mane Street
The area is lined with storefronts for any sized animal that might be cruising the streets.
Savannah Central
The civic plaza, where Judy Hopps is featured before her big adventure in the movie. Savannah Central features large, colorful animated advertisements playing on the large Zootopitron screen. Behind this screen is the skyline of Zootopia which was originally inspired by various city skylines in the film.
Zootopia Central Station
A large metro train can be seen passing behind an upper-level decorative stained-glass window. The train comes and goes as it picks up and drops off animal commuters, just as it did in the film.
The land features plenty of animal-inspired street signs like “Cubs at Play” warning signs and vehicle height clearance signs targeted at citizens, like giraffes, to be aware of their height when entering tunnels. So many great details!
New Zootopia Land Character Meet-and-Greets
Guests will also be able to meet their favorite characters from the Zootopia movie. Some of the characters guests will be able to see include:
- Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde at the Zootopia Recruitment Station
- Fru Fru and her father Mr. Big
- Koslov the polar bear
- Flash the sloth
- Yax the yak
- Duke Weaselton the weasel
- the Hopps family (who appear to interact amongst themselves and sometimes with guests through the windows of the buildings)

Shanghai Disney Zootopia Land New Treats
The new Zootopia land will feature Jumbeaux’s Cafe, an ice cream shop and cafe from the movie. Disney has shared a look at treats like a blueberry pie, a chocolate marshmallow, Officer Clawhauser’s favorite The Big Donut, and more.
At Zootopia Market, a cluster of four shacks offering treats, you'll find the Disney Zootopia Pawsicle from the film seen below.
New Shopping at Shanghai Disney Zootopia Land
New Zootopia shopping will be available at Fashions by Fru Fru, which will be to the right of “Mane Street.” Here, you will find gifts, themed products like the Zootopia Cute collection, headwear, apparel, accessories, and more. Inside the store, there will be two special areas themed after Yax and Duke Weaselton.
