One Big Thing – New Nighttime Projection Show for Star Wars Celebration

Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga projection show

Disneyland just announced new details about what we can expect during the Star Wars celebration Season of the Force at Disneyland, including a new nightly projection show in Galaxy's Edge!

This new show called “Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga” will debut at the start of the Season of the Force celebration and highlight the story of the Skywalkers. The show will feature projections on the spires of Batuu near the Millenium Falcon, highlighting “some of the greatest moments in galactic history” with a musical score of some of the iconic Star Wars themes throughout the Skywalker saga films. The new show will debut on March 28 but continue past the end of the Season of the Force celebration.

We're excited that this new show includes the timeline all the way from the prequels to the original films and sequels, so there is really something that every Star Wars fan can enjoy. Though it sounds like the show is primarily focused on the nine films of the Skywalker saga, we would also not be surprised if there were some moments from Ahsoka included as well as this character is central to the story of the Skywalkers.

This area near the Millennium Falcon is already one of the coolest spots in the park, so we can't wait to see how they incorporate projections here. You can see our recent article on why this area near the Millennium Falcon might be our new favorite place to watch the fireworks. One of the things we love is how the iconic Star Wars music is used in the Fire of the Rising Moons experience, so we can't wait to see how it ties together this new show.

There were also some other big announcements made for Disneyland's Season of the Force including a sneak peek at the food and merchandise, including the first-ever Disneyland Park Star Wars plush for the popular Create Your Own Headbands and a new storyline at the lightsaber-making experience Savi's Workshop. See all the photos in that article.

What We're Thinking About This Week

  • Lindsay is excited to see Disneyland relax the timeline in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as part of the Season of the Force celebration! Guests have been wanting more interactions with characters from the original Star Wars trilogy and she is excited to see Luke Skywalker greeting fans in the land.
  • Gavin is excited about the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival. He's ready to see the food guide (probably released next week or week after) and to ride Soarin' Over California again.
  • Emily is excited about the new projection show for Season of the Force, especially any moments from the prequels it may include! It's easy to imagine a really epic Revenge of the Sith projection moment with “Duel of the Fates” and many more great scenes from these films that would work in this show.

Where In Disneyland Is This?

Hint: This hidden Mickey is near one of our favorite rides. Comment your answer below and we'll reveal the spot next week!

Answer to last week's “Where In Disneyland Is This?”: The fireplace in the Grand Californian.

Disneyland Crowd Calendar This Week

This week, you can expect mostly normal crowds with above-normal crowds days heading into Presidents' Day weekend. While February is generally a month of lower crowd levels, you can expect the parks to be busier during any holiday weekend.

You can see our rating of all upcoming dates in our Mickey Visit Disneyland Crowd Calendar.

New Disneyland Ride Closures This Week

During this slower time of year after the holiday celebration, we will often see more rides down for standard refurbishments or closures to remove holiday overlays.
