When Will Disneyland Magic Key Annual Passes Be Available For Sale? 2024 Update

Disneyland Magic Keys are annual passes available to guests who want to visit Disneyland frequently throughout the year. Disneyland Magic Key Annual Passes will soon be going on sale again—more details on this below!

There is a specific low-cost pass option for locals and are three other types for anyone else, out-of-state or California resident, who is interested in purchasing a Disneyland annual pass. Disneyland Magic Keys come with dining, shopping, and other discounts along with special perks just for annual passholders.

Disney limits the amount of Magic Key Annual Passes that are sold to limit traffic to the parks. This was part of an overhaul of the previous Disneyland Annual Pass system. Disney now limits when Magic Key passes go on sale.

When Will Disneyland Magic Key Annual Passes Go On Sale?

Magic Key Passes will be going on sale on March 5, 2024 for all four pass types. You can enter the waiting room for the queue no earlier than 8:45 am PT and sales will begin no earlier than 9:00 am PT. The limitation on Magic Key sales and increased blockout dates have been noticeable in the impact on the crowds at Disneyland. With Saturdays often being blocked out for most Magic Key holders this has made this day of the week generally a lower crowd day than some weekdays which is surprising for guests to find out! When Were Magic Keys Last Sold?

Disneyland Magic Keys were last on sale on January 10th 2024 with all of the passes selling out quickly within a day and a half of going on sale. CLICK HERE for all details on this last sale date and our thoughts on how fast they sold out!

This most recent Magic Key sale date had passes selling out even faster than we originally predicted. It was likely that all passes would sell out, this has been common the past few sale dates, but passes sold out faster than many imagined. There is a lot of demand for Annual Passes and this scarcity mindset Disney has created with the limitations on Magic Key sales has encouraged fans to jump at the chance to buy a pass since they are no longer available year-round. 

The only passes available are for those renewing and those with children who recently turned 3 years old and now need a pass. If you have a child turning 3 years old and are a Magic Keyholder you can go to one of the ticket booths at Disneyland to purchase a pass for your child. Magic Key passes have been available for sale on and off over the last few years since Disney relaunched the Annual Pass program. In January 2024, the sales window was hectic with a virtual queue at times exceeding eight hours and Disney quickly paused sales after just a few days. Sales resumed again in January 2023 and April 2023 before being available again in January 2024.

Disneyland Statement on Magic Keys

Back in January 2023, Disney did have this to say about the Magic Key program, “Disneyland Resort will make select Magic Key passes available for new sales from time to time throughout 2023 as pass inventory becomes available.” Currently, all sales have been paused since September. If we do not see sales resume briefly in November like in the previous year, then I expect we will be waiting until January 2024 to see Magic Keys go on sale.

Disney recently reiterated this statement to us when they shared the details on the price increase for the Magic Key passes that we detailed below. They shared that they will continue to work to make Magic Key passes available for purchase for guests at times throughout the year.

We have no solid answers from Disney on when sales will resume but if you want speculation to help plan for that downpayment on a Magic Key, I would keep money set aside for April 2024- just in case! That said, Disney does still offer the monthly payment plan for the Magic Key Annual Pass so you should be fine to choose that option.

Disneyland Magic Key Increase

Disneyland just increased ticket prices on October 11th, 2023 which was a year later than the last price increase. Other prices were raised across the board like the cost increase of Disneyland Genie+ to $30 per person, per day. Read more about these recent price increases in our Disneyland ticket price guide.

Magic Keys were also included in this price increase even though sales for the current program are paused. Magic Keys increased from $50 to $150 depending on the pass type.

This is also another good indication that they may go on sale again in November, even briefly, as Disney preps the program for another sales influx. Of course, it is wise to raise prices all at once rather than individually- this way some of the details get lost in the noise which is just better press for the company. Since Magic Keys are not available for sale, it was not as big news to see an increase in the annual passes as it only impacted those renewing. Although, if you are a Magic Key holder, this was likely big news for you!
