Disneyland JW Marriott Anaheim Hotel Review 2024

The Anaheim JW Marriott near Disneyland is a nice addition to the high end chain hotels near Disneyland. The JW Marriott provides incredible amenities for guests looking for an upscale hotel experience just a short walk from Disneyland.

In addition to the clean rooms you would expect from a high end chain offering, this hotel near Disneyland offers resort level perks and great customer service. I was very impressed by the entire offering.

Let's dive into my stay at the brand new JW Marriott near Disneyland…

Disneyland JW Marriott Hotel Review

The hotel was completed just before the COVID closure of the resort. The recent construction is evident throughout the resort from the rooms to the work out facilities to the pool.

JW Marriott Room Tour and Review

Each room is thoughtfully designed in a modern style with the most recent advancements like USB chargers built into the wall, sleek lighting, modern flare in the restrooms, and a hidden pull out bed to accommodate your Disneyland party size. I appreciate the attention to detail throughout the room.

If you have read my Disneyland hotel reviews before, you know that my key metrics for a hotel are proximity to the parks, general cleanliness, and comfortable bedding. This hotel has all three. The rooms are completely clean – the carpeting is still very fresh and new, bathroom was impeccable, and bed was comfortably made. The hotel also has my favorite down pillow. Plus, the hotel is just a short walk along a wall manicured and lit path from Disneyland (covered further in the section below).

The room that I stayed in had a king bed and a unique pull out window bench that could easily fit two children. This room would be perfect for a young family staying near Disneyland that does not yet need more space.

The bathrooms were very clean with both a shower and a tub. The modern motif of the JW Marriott is carried forward into the restrooms.

Breakfast at the JW Marriott

The JW Marriott does not have an included breakfast with your stay, but there is a cafe in the hotel with a variety of breakfast options and Starbucks coffee. Getting your Starbucks in the hotel is a nice perk that will stop you from having to wait in line once you are in the parks. I only ever saw a short line here, but I would account for a wait as you are planning your morning.

JW Marriott Hotel Pool and Gym Area

The hotel is also much larger than other options near the resort and has offerings that are more in line with an official Disney resort hotel. The JW Marriott has a large gym facility, pool area with cabanas, bar/restaurant in the lobby, and rooftop restaurant/bar with fireworks viewing.

The pool area at the JW Marriott is slightly more adult oriented with a standard rectangular pool area instead of the water play area that you’ll find in other hotels near Disneyland (read my review of the Howard Johnson near Disneyland for details on their large water area).

The pool also has comfortable cabanas surrounding the area that make this a great place to take your afternoon break from the parks. Even if you aren’t going in for a dip, lounging in the sun is a great way to enjoy a moment away from the hubbub of the parks. During my stay they also had a Peloton workout bike outside near the pool.

In addition to the Peloton bike by the pool, the hotel has a very nice gym and work out center for guests. If walking in the parks isn’t enough of a work out for you, this gym has a great selection of modern work out conveniences.

Rooftop Bar Near Disneyland at JW Marriott

While I didn’t get a chance to dine at the Parkestry rooftop restaurant at the JW Marriott, I was able to take in the views from the restaurant over the resort. Looking back at the beautiful Disneyland and Disney California Adventure skyline at night is just spectacular.

Pictures do not do the view of the illuminated attractions justice. From a distance, the entire resort looks like a play set – perhaps fittingly as Disneyland was Walt Disney’s play set during the years he personally oversaw construction and operation.

The Parkestry restaurant is also a great place to catch the Disneyland fireworks if you won’t be inside the parks. The kids will love watching the fireworks from here before getting to bed early before a big parks day.

Walking to Disneyland From the JW Marriott

This is the gate that leads from the hotel to the GardenWalk from the lobby floor of the hotel.

The JW Marriott is located roughly an 18 minute walk from the main gate of Disneyland (15 minutes if you are really huffing it solo), making it one of the best hotels within walking distance of Disneyland. The walk is along a nicely manicured pathway alongside Disney Way and Harbor Boulevard. Doing this walk at any hours of the day, you will feel safe because it is well lit and there are lots of other people walking and driving in the same area. You’ll then enter the Disneyland Resort through the Harbor Boulevard security entrance.

Be sure to read our full Disneyland morning strategy for tips on when to arrive to Disneyland. You can also cut through the GardenWalk mall on your way. During my first walk from the hotel I tried cutting through the GardenWalk and was a bit put off by the twisting walk ways that do not provide a clear shot from the hotel out to the sidewalk.

I preferred the walk alongside the sidewalk in front of the hotel rather than cutting through the GardenWalk.

With that said, having the Anaheim GardenWalk located directly out a side door from the hotel lobby provides a nice variety of restaurant options if you want to get back towards the hotel for food.

While this is not the hotel for you if you are looking for access directly across the street, I was very comfortable walking. There is also the option to utilize the ART Anaheim bus service, but I personally prefer to walk rather than standing still waiting for the shuttle.

Disneyland JW Marriott Review 2024

Overall, the JW Marriott is a great option for families that are accustomed to resort / high-end chain hotel amenities that are still looking for a very close option to the parks.

I enjoyed my stay at the JW Marriott and will consider it for trips again in the future.

I was hosted for my stay at the JW Marriott by my travel partner, Get Away Today, and the hotel so that I could provide a review. Though I am occasionally hosted to review hotels near Disneyland, I will always share my true opinion about the hotels.
