Though there are several hotels close to Disneyland, we will break down 19 of the best hotels within walking distance of Disneyland and what makes them stand out. While staying at all of these hotels, your walk to Disneyland will be a convenient 15 minutes or less!

I have stayed at or toured dozens of hotels near Disneyland. The below rankings are based on a variety of factors including our in-person experiences and comprehensive reviews. Our Mickey Visit writers are at Disneyland weekly to ensure that our content is always up to date and the most helpful out there. Below we have maps illustrating the walks from each of these hotels to Disneyland to allow you to make a well-guided decision.

Hotels Walking Distance to Disneyland – Which Options Do You Have?

grand californian walking entrance to disneyland

The main entrance that guests will be utilizing when walking from closeby hotels is located off of South Harbor Boulevard, which you can see on the map below. This will take you to the Esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, where you can access the turnstiles to either park.

Though the majority of the hotels mentioned in this list are closest to the Harbor Boulevard entrance, it will be easier for certain hotels to walk along Disneyland Drive and enter the Disneyland Resort area through Downtown Disney. To do this, you'll walk up Disneyland Drive, turn left on Paradise Way going past the Pixar Place Hotel (formerly the Paradise Pier Hotel), then take a right at the roundabout and proceed to the security entrance at Downtown Disney near the Disneyland Hotel. From here, you can either walk to the main Esplanade with the turnstiles for each park, or if you're heading to Disneyland Park, you can board the Disneyland Monorail to be dropped off at the Tomorrowland station.

As you can see in the map shared by our friends at the Anaheim Howard Johnson, the area is relatively compact. We'll dive into the hotel options that are within walking distance below.

Guests of Paradise Pier Hotel and the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa have their own private entrance that they can use to enter and exit Disney California Adventure. The Paradise Pier entrance lands you near Paradise Gardens Park, and the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa lands you in Grizzly Peak.

While the entrances are exclusive for guests of Disneyland Resort hotels, any guests can use them to exit from the theme parks, so the walk back to your hotel from the Disneyland Drive entrance can end up being much shorter. For example, if you are staying at Best Western Pavilions Plus and ending the night in Disney California Adventure, you can use the Paradise Pier Hotel exit located between the Corn Dog Castle and Seaside Souvenirs to cut time off your walk back to the hotel.

Below, we will discuss the best hotels within walking distance of Disneyland (15 minutes or less). As we detail in our best hotels near Disneyland guide, there is a mix of affordable options that are right across the street from the main entrance, luxury options, and on-site Disneyland Resort hotels.

Tips for Walking to and from Disneyland

One of the most convenient parts of staying at a hotel within walking distance of Disneyland is that you have more control over your journey to and from the parks—you don't have to juggle the extra component of waiting for a shuttle or the extra expense of theme park parking, and if you plan well, you can arrive with plenty of time to spare for our Disneyland morning strategy and Disney California Adventure morning strategy. That being said, make sure to allow for some extra travel time to account for any potential delays, time spent at crosswalks, and heavier crowds that can slow foot traffic down as you get closer to Disneyland.

If you are traveling with little ones, we always recommend bringing your own stroller if you are able to. The ones you rent from Disneyland can only be used in the park, so you can't use them to go back and forth between your hotel, and this can be challenging at the start of the day but especially in the evenings when everyone is tired from a long day of fun at the parks. You can see our guide to Disneyland stroller rentals to explore your options for strollers when visiting Disneyland!

  1. How your and others’ lists manage to omit the Candy Cane Inn is beyond me and makes me question your knowledge and integrity.

    • That’s a fair question. The Candy Cane Inn was closed and under construction for quite awhile recently since the parks reopened. We have not stayed at the hotel since the construction was complete. We only feature hotels that we have reviewed. Generally you’ll see Candy Cane Inn listed far less often in lists like this because the hotel can’t be booked through many third (if any) booking engines. We have stayed at Candy Cane Inn before the COVID 2020 closures, but have not been back since then. Many have very fond memories of the hotel, but we find it to lack many of the amenities the newer build hotels near the resort now offer.

  2. The Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel wasn’t mentioned. It’s a close walk as well…

  3. When did the Paradise Pier Hotel get it’s on entrance to DCA.

  4. The one BW that didn’t make your list is, in my opinion, the best hotel there, and that’s the BW Anaheim Inn. The recently refurbished bathroom vanity areas alone are worth it to me with thoughtful shelving and cabinetry that really helps with toiletry storage on longer trips. The motel is a little smaller than its sister, the Park Place Inn, but the breakfast area is about the same size, meaning it’s not nearly as crowded in the mornings. We almost couldn’t find seats several mornings during our recent stay at Park Place, and have never had that happen at the Anaheim Inn. It’s also a super close walk, especially when we cross through the Denny’s parking lot. 🙂 And I’ve found good deals for this one on GetAwayToday too!
