Best Western Stovall’s Review – Best Hotels Near Disneyland

During our visit to Disneyland reopening, we enjoyed a stay at the Best Western Stovall's Inn near Disneyland on Katella Street. The hotel is a short walk to the Downtown Disney security entrance to the Disneyland Resort. In this Best Western Stovall's Inn review I'll share room photos, thoughts on amenities (such as the included free breakfast), location, and how this compares to other hotels near Disneyland.

I was hosted by the Best Western Stovall's Inn team so that we could share our review of the hotel with all of you. We checked into the hotel the night before Disneyland reopened and were the first guests since their closure in March 2020. As you can imagine, the team was extremely pleased to have guests once again.

Best Western Stovall's Disneyland Review Overview 2021

The Best Western Stovall's Inn is a budget friendly hotel within walking distance of the Downtown Disney entrance to Disneyland.

As I mentioned, we stayed at the hotel the first night that they were open again after a year long closure. Every space that we saw was refreshed and ready for guests.

The hotel is set up in a classic motel style with the rooms opening out on to an exposed hallway along the parking lot. There is a nice pool surrounded by a fantastical garden of fun topiaries. The pool is currently reopened with the hotel. The hotel also has a fitness center.

From the exposed walkway outside of the rooms, you'll have a direct view to the Incredicoaster and the Pixar Pal Around at Pixar Pier. This is a fun view to wake up and walk out to as you head into Disneyland!

The hotel staff is extremely accommodating and will do everything possible to make your stay memorable. We requested an early check in so that we could get in the room and had no trouble getting in early.

Best Western Stovall's Room Tour

The rooms are nicely appointed with furnishings that feel new. Our beds were comfortable and had clean crisp white linens that feel fresh. I was also pleased to see that the carpets seemed to be recently replaced. Rooms either have two queens or one king bed. Our room had two queens.

The rooms also have a microwave and refrigerator which came in handy when we saved and reheated leftovers for a late night snack (the portions of nachos at Lamplight Lounge are HUGE!). The toilet and shower/tub are also separated from the sink so that multiple people can get ready all at the same time. This is a great feature as it is always hectic trying to get the entire family out the door so that you can get started on the morning Disneyland touring strategy.

The Best Western Stovall's Inn is an inexpensive, clean, and comfortable room right near an entrance to the resort that is great to come home to after a long day at Disneyland.

Best Western Stovall's Pool Near Disneyland

The Best Western Stovall's offers a great pool area with two pools, two hot tubs, and a wading pool. The entire area is surrounded by those fantastical topiaries I was talking about. The kids love these!

This is a great amenity if you arrive a the day before you visit the parks or want to enjoy a break at the end of a long day at the theme parks.

Best Western Stovall Review – Free Breakfast!

The Best Western Stovall's Inn is also still offering a limited complimentary hot breakfast even while they are at lower capacity. While we were staying they had eggs, sausage, and breakfast potatoes for the hot food and yogurt, milk, and cereal. They also had some snacks to take with us into the parks – the KIND bars they gave us are a great mid morning snack (see other great options on our Disneyland packing list). Many of the other hotels in the Anaheim area are not currently offering a hot breakfast so it was a pleasant surprise to see that the Best Western Stovall's Inn was ready to return with the offering.

I expect that the hotel will continue to ramp up these breakfast offerings throughout the rest of the year. During regular times they also provide guests the option for a grab-and-go breakfast to take with you into the parks. This and the more extensive hot continental breakfast should return soon.

Getting to Disneyland From the Best Western Stovall's Inn

The Best Western Stovall's Inn is located about a half mile walk from the closest security checkpoint entrance to Downtown Disney and the Disneyland Resort theme parks, making it one of the best hotels within walking distance of Disneyland. You have a couple of options of how to get to Disneyland. You could talk the ART shuttle or Uber to the main Harbor Blvd entrance or walk across Katella and directly down Disneyland Drive to the Disneyland Hotel entrance to Downtown Disney (this is a 0.5 mile walk from the hotel according to Google Maps). Once the Monorail returns (this is one of the experiences currently closed at Disneyland right now), you can also easily hop aboard the Monorail into Tomorrowland which is just inside the Downtown Disney security gate – only a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

This map outlines the walking route from the Best Western Stovall's Inn to the Disneyland Park main entrance. The 20 minute walk goes by quickly if you are speedy like our family, but you may want to take the ART if you have small children or are daunted by starting your day with this stroll. The walk is largely on Disney property and is well lit at night and secured.

In addition to the close access to the Downtown Disney District and Disneyland Resort Theme Parks, the Best Western Stovall's Inn is also just a block from the Anaheim Convention Center.

Review of Best Western Stovall's Inn Disneyland

Overall, the Best Western Stovall's Inn is a great family friendly option near Disneyland that is comfortable, clean, convenient, and affordable. The staff at the hotel is dedicated to making a great family vacation possible for you. The Best Western Stovall's always has a great deal available and you can usually find this property for much less than those right outside the main Harbor Blvd entrance to Disneyland including Stovall's sister property, the Best Western Park Place Inn (click to see our review of that property).
