Disneyland Sheraton Park at Anaheim Resort REVIEW – Completely Refurbished Hotel!

The Disneyland Sheraton Park at Anaheim Resort is a recently refurbished hotel within walking distance to both Disneyland and the Anaheim Convention Center. The hotel was recently remodeled from top to bottom in mid-2022 and now all of the guest rooms and the lobby space are fresh and upscale. We'll share all the details in this Disneyland Sheraton review.

If you didn't see the hotel exterior and just saw the interiors of the lobby and guest rooms you could easily be standing in the newly built JW Marriott Disneyland hotel. Compared to the previous iteration that felt like a drab convention center hotel stuck in the 90s, the new Sheraton oozes class and luxury.

With it's proximity to Disneyland and the Anaheim Convention Center, the hotel is perfect for those splitting time between a convention and Disneyland. During our most recent trip we were in town for the Disney D23 Expo so this hotel provided a great in between location for all of our activities. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the front door of the Sheraton to Disneyland main gate. Disneyland Sheraton Review 2024

Talk about a new car smell, the Sheraton has a new hotel smell throughout. Right upon entering the Anaheim Sheraton lobby I was hit with a wave of the great Marriott aroma.

The renovation of the Sheraton hotel and rooms was completed at the beginning of summer 2022 and the entire experience is elevated. The hotel is now up there with the other Marriott Bonvoy rewards program hotels in the area – the new Westin and JW Marriott come to mind.

The hotel is built to the standards of a business traveler in town for a convention. That means that you'll find offerings at the Sheraton that go beyond many of the other hotels on Harbor Boulevard directly across the street from Disneyland – the gym is large and spacious and in the lobby there are meeting rooms to book by the hour. By that same measure, some of the perks that are included with other hotels are an additional charge at the Sheraton as business travelers would easily be able to expense things like WiFi, parking, and the concierge level. Disneyland Anaheim Sheraton Review Room Tour

The Anaheim Sheraton rooms are designed in a modern style with the most recent advancements like USB chargers in the nightstand, a night light in the restroom mirror, and modern design throughout. The rooms deliver on the expectations of an upscale hotel property. There is also a touch of Disney throughout the guest tower with vintage Disney photos in the hallways throughout the guest room tower.

Based on our best hotels near Disneyland guide you know that the key metrics I grade a hotel on are general cleanliness, comfortable bedding, and proximity to the parks. The completely renovated Disneyland Sheraton almost delivers on all three. The hotel is still very fresh from the renovation and the housekeeping staff was very thorough each day in turning down our beds and freshening up the room. There was no mention or hint of short staffing on the housekeeping staff throughout our stay. The bedding was heavenly. Now, just a couple of days removed from staying at the Sheraton, I am thinking about how I could fit my bed at home with the same cloud-like mattress and down pillows combination offered here.

The only potential argument against the Sheraton for a Disneyland only trip is the distance from the parks. I'll say more on this below in our getting to the parks section.

Now, more on the rooms. The main room type at the Sheraton is the two queen bed combination. There other room types are king bed rooms and suites. Guests will status with Marriott Bonvoy and those that opt to upgrade can move into a concierge room. This room type includes a little bit more space and access to the club lounge – more details on what is included in the lounge below.

Here's a look at the Sheraton bathrooms. Again, the finishes are high class and match the upscale nature of the rest of the hotel.

The rooms facing the parks have a great view of Disney California Adventure Park and on to Disneyland Park in the background. Here you can see Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! and the Avengers Campus Quinjet up close and in the distance the spires of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. If your room is high enough up and on the parks side, you'll have a great view of the Disneyland Fireworks.

The only space in the Disneyland Sheraton still wanting for a renovation are the elevators up to the guest rooms which are still slow and outdated. It was difficult to tell if the lights were working when you pushed them. I was assured that the elevators are still on the list to update.

Sheraton Park at Anaheim Resort Review – Pool Area and Gym

The Sheraton Anaheim has one of the nicer pool areas at a hotel near Disneyland that is not an official Disneyland Resort Hotel. Many of the other hotels along Harbor Boulevard have their pool area in the middle of the parking lot surrounded by asphalt. The Disneyland Sheraton hotel has the lobby in one building and hotel tower in another and the pool area is situated between the two buildings, surrounded by palm trees and a grassy area.

The pool itself is also large with plenty of room for swimming around. You'll find a hot tub in the area too. It felt much more like it was setup to be the center of a buzzing resort rather than the afterthought out in the parking lot. The pool also has a bar that offers drinks and light appetizers.

The pool has a number of relaxation spots including lots of shaded recliners and a hammock. This is a great place for the entire family to take an afternoon break from the theme parks.

Just beyond the pool area, the gym is off in a separate building. The gym was well supplied with a number of aerobic machines, weight machines, and free dumbbells. Again, this is an area where the fact that the hotel is a conference hotel guarantees a certain level of amenities that go beyond some of the other hotels in the area.

Walking from the Sheraton Park to Disneyland

The Sheraton Park at Anaheim Resort is about a fifteen minute walk from the Disneyland main gate, making it one of the best hotels within walking distance of Disneyland. The walk is a direct shot down Harbor Boulevard from the Anaheim Convention Center turn off. Between the hotel and Disneyland you'll cross one busy street after waiting at a long traffic light (Katella Ave.) and then walk along a semi-well lit constantly populated sidewalk in to Disneyland.

For groups participating in anything at the Anaheim convention center or for families with members that are all a little older and more willing to walk, this hotel is a perfect option.

For younger families with only a couple of days at the parks you may want to consider a hotel a little bit closer or utilize the Anaheim Rapid Transit shuttle service. I personally prefer to walk rather than waiting for any shuttle.

Disneyland Sheraton Anaheim Dining Options Onsite

During my recent stay at the Disneyland Sheraton I experienced service from all of the onsite dining offerings.

The Savor restaurant offers a full breakfast in the morning and for lunch and dinner have launched a new pizza concept. For the lunch and dinner concept, a starter course is served and then waiters rotate through the restaurant with unique savory and sweet pizza pies. The restaurant also offers an a la carte menu. I ate a Cesar wrap for lunch one day. The wrap was great and the fries were perfectly crispy.

The &More bar is just off the hotel lobby and provided nice service for a drink one of our afternoons. I did not get a chance to try food here.

The World Market is a well stocked market and full-service snack shop. There is a menu of foods to make to order ranging from sandwiches, to pizzas, to breakfast items. The late night turkey sandwich I had from here was simple, yet filling and not too expensive. Here's a look at the menu for a sample of the food:

The Morton's Steakhouse is also officially part of the hotel but we did not eat here during this trip. I imagine that restaurant is largely utilized by the conferences when they are in town.

Sheraton Anaheim Concierge Level and Lounge Access

Marriott Bonvoy Elite status guests who book their rooms directly or those who choose to upgrade can get access to the Sheraton Club Lounge. The lounge includes breakfast and hors d'oeuvres in the evening. Each guest also gets a set amount of drink coupons to use in the lounge for alcoholic beverages.

The breakfast included scrambled eggs, oatmeal, assorted pastries, toast, and freshly cut fruit. I was very content eating the eggs and fruit each morning.

The evening hors d'oeuvres were a great snack that ran from 5-7 pm. We caught them two of our three nights. There was always an assortment of cheese and crackers, chips, and warm plates with some kind of fried food like mini empanadas or spring rolls. All pretty good.

Sheraton Park Anaheim WiFi and Parking Extra Cost

The Sheraton Park Anaheim does charge from some perks that other hotels include with the price. Guests will pay $25 per day for self-parking and $30 per day for valet. The fastest WiFi is also an additional charge that you can opt for one night of your stay or for your entire trip. Marriott Bonvoy members (anyone can sign up for the program) get the lowest level of internet included with their rewards membership.

Disneyland Sheraton Review – Final Thoughts

Looking back at the old Sheraton Anaheim hotel it is amazing how far the interiors of the property have come to deliver an elevated experience. If you are willing to walk to Disneyland or are attending a conference at the Anaheim Convention Center, the Sheraton Park Anaheim is a great option for you.

Prices on the hotel will range dramatically based on if a conference is in town at the Anaheim Convention Center. This hotel is impacted dramatically as the biggest conferences will lead to all three of the major chain hotels around the convention center (Hilton, Anaheim Marriott, and Sheraton) to be booked completely and for room rates to skyrocket. Prices for rooms range from $150 a night during mid-week non-conference periods to $450 per night during a packed conference that also falls on a weekend popular with Disneyland guests. I am not suggested that you pull out the Anaheim Convention Center calendar (though we do that when we update our Disneyland crowd calendar) but I am letting you know the factors that may impact the pricing of the Sheraton if you are looking to book.
