D23 Expo 2024 – Schedule, Ticket Prices, NEW Changes

The D23 Expo is the biggest Disney fan convention in the world and is held at the Anaheim Convention Center right near Disneyland. The 2024 D23 Expo, now renamed to just “D23,” will take place in August 9th through 11th.

You can expect all the latest news about Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel plus breaking news about any upcoming Disney Parks projects! The event will be bigger than ever and will expand to better serve all guests interested in attending with new expanded location at the Honda Center.

We recently joined D23 in person for a media event to receive all the new details for the 2024 event. We now have all the most recent updates for D23 2024 including ticket prices, schedule, and all the NEW changes for this year. Keep reading for all the new information!

When is the Next D23 Expo?

The D23 Expo will take place August 9-11, 2024. The event will also include a D23 member event inside Disneyland and an event at the Anaheim Angels baseball game. Here is the full list of D23 2024 events:

  • D23 Day at Angel Stadium on Sunday, August 4
  • D23 Day at Disneyland Resort on Thursday, August 8
  • D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on August 9, 10, and 11

NEW- Brazil D23 2024

New this year, a special version of the event will travel to Latin America for the first time with an event in São Paulo, Brazil November 2024. Previously Disney has held other versions of the D23 Expo in Japan following the main D23 Expo in Anaheim. The São Paulo, Brazil event will likely make use of many of the props and pieces created for the D23 event in Anaheim. They also said that this would be the first expansion of the event and hinted that the D23 offering could be expanded and travel to other cities also.

D23 2024 Anaheim Event Changes

The D23 event is being expanded dramatically this year to offer an entire week of events! Along with these expanded offerings come some big changes including an additional venue for the major presentations to hold more fans, a D23 celebration at Disneyland, larger than ever show floor, a name change plus a NEW Disney sweepstakes.

NEW D23 Venue- Honda Center

Photo Credit: Honda Center Facebook Page

The biggest change to the actual event setup is that the major presentations will be held at the Honda Center rather than at the Anaheim Convention Center. These events will be held in the evening each night of D23. On the Honda Center website, it states that the arena can hold 13,793 when setup in a stage-end capacity. This is almost double the capacity of the Hall D23 setup that has been used in recent years. At the D23 Expo preview, we heard that roughly 12,000 guests will fit in the set up for this new event.

The major panel events will now take place in the evenings and guests will be moved from the Anaheim Convention Center to the Honda Center to enjoy. The result should be that all attendees get to experience the major presentations without having to wait long into the night to attend.

Disney has been clear that the Anaheim Convention Center would still play a key role with “daytime fun” which will likely include smaller presentations and the show floor. You can read more about this experience below.

D23 Transportation to Honda Center

Don't worry, Disney has thought through how guests can easily get from the Anaheim Convention Center to the Honda Center before the showcases.

There will be access for D23 attendees to several transportation options including a complimentary round-trip shuttle service between the Anaheim Convention Center and the Honda Center before and after the evening shows.

There will also be parking available at the Anaheim Convention Center like in years past. Disney has said more transportation and parking details will be provided closer to the event. They specifically told us that they don't want to release more information now because there could be small tweaks to the offering as they fine tune the best way to move the roughly 12,000 people who will fit into the Honda Center.

Personally, I will be most interested to see how early these shuttles will begin running to transport guests to avoid a mad shuffle right before the presentations begin. This might be a situation where the cost of rideshare around Disneyland might be worth it!

D23 2024 Schedule Announced

The newly announced 2024 Disney major presentations that will take place at the Honda Center include:

Disney Entertainment Showcase: Friday, August 9th at 7PM

The first major event will kick off with the Disney Entertainment showcase featuring exclusive looks at the movies, series, and stage shows along with a glimpse of “what's next.”

Disney Experiences Showcase: Saturday, August 10 at 7PM

Disney Experiences will feature the latest news on highly anticipated projects in development around the world for Disney parks, experiences, and beyond. This is the showcase we are looking forward to the most especially as Disney as been teasing big changes coming to Animal Kingdom, the potential for a new land at Magic Kingdom, and the possibility for Avatar at Disneyland along with the DisneylandForward expansion.

Disney Legends Ceremony: Sunday, August 11 at 5PM

The last major showcase of the event will be the Disney Legends Ceremony hosted by Ryan Seacrest. Walt Disney Archives are honoring an exciting list of Disney icons this year including  Colleen Atwood, Angela Bassett, Martha Blanding, James L. Brooks, James Cameron, Jamie Lee Curtis, Miley Cyrus, Steve Ditko, Harrison Ford, Mark Henn, Frank Oz, Kelly Ripa, Joe Rohde, and John Williams. You can see all the 2024 Disney Legends here.

The Honda Center will be the host to just these three showcase events. In the past these events were so popular that guests would camp out for hours! Since then Disney has navigated different techniques to give guests access but ultimately, many attendees would be left out since the demand outpaced the availability of seats. This switch to the Honda Center for these showcases should help solve that problem so more guests can attend.

D23 Day at the Disneyland Resort

Pixar Pier at Disneyland

For the first time ever, Disneyland Resort will celebrate D23 Day on August 8th 2024, the day before the official D23 fan event kicks off. The event will take place throughout the day from “rope drop” to “late night” featuring unique offerings for D23 fans like a custom cavalcade and a dance party.

The event will also include special photo ops, speciality foods, themed merchandise, and more at both Disneyland and California Adventure. Disney Junior will also celebrate D23 Day with a musical celebration at California Adventure.

D23 Day at Angel Stadium

d23 expo bobble head

The first ever D23 Day will take place at Angel Stadium on Sunday, August 4th. The first 23,000 fans through the gate will receive a commemorative and one-of-a-kind D23 Mickey Mouse bobblehead.

D23 2024 Show Floor

The show floor is one of the best parts of any convention and D23 is no exception! The show floor will once again showcase the best of Disney storytelling and innovation this year with an expanded show floor with experiences for all ages.

Pavilions on the show floor will include Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Disney+, Marvel Studios, Disney Experiences and Lucasfilm.

There will be plenty of shopping opportunities including the chance to get limited-edition merchandise and collectibles. Returning stores include Mickey’s of Glendale, The Hollywood Studio Store, and The Emporium. New this year will be The Walt Disney Company Store will feature exclusive D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event branded products.

There will also be specially curated shows, panels, and presentations taking place on all five different stages at the Anaheim Convention Center.

“A Great Big Beautiful Car Show” NEW from the Walt Disney ArchivesCruella deville Disney car

New this year will be an exhibit from the Walt Disney Archives entitled “A Great Big Beautiful Car Show.” We got a preview of some of the cars that will be featured in this upcoming exhibit including the car from Cruella!

Other cars featured include Sharpay's 2008 Honda from High School Musical 3: Senior Year.

This exhibit will be available to all D23 attendees.

The Ultimate Disney Sweepstakes: Fantastic Prizes

There will also be a huge sweepstakes to enter called the D23: The Ultimate Disney Sweepstakes. The prize is one of the most expansive in Disney history including  a sailing on the seven-night maiden voyage of the newest Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Treasure.

D23 Name Change

Disney has also changed the name of the event to D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. This is a correction that I am sure is based on ease for all to say but particularly because stars always referred to the event on stage as D23. Much easier to change the event name than to try to change what's easiest for Emma Watson or Oprah.

D23 2024 Tips

d23 expo dates 2024

For the next D23, we will share some tips that will help you navigate the event and make the most of your experience. Keep these in mind if you are planning on attending the event!

Arrive early. This is especially on the first day, as exclusive items will sell out faster, so make sure you get in line as soon as possible if there are certain merchandise exclusives you’d like to grab.

Come prepared with essential items you'll need. We recommend bringing hand sanitizer, a battery pack for your phone, a Sharpie with paper for autographs in case you run into celebrities or industry icons on the show floor, a water bottle to stay hydrated (with refill stations available around the center), and a poster tube if you are planning on purchasing prints.

Wear comfortable shoes. Because you'll be doing lots of walking on the hard floors of the Anaheim Convention Center, make sure your shoes are comfortable and supportive.

Make a list of things that are your priority. With so much to do and see at the D23 Expo, you won't be able to get to everything. With panels overlapping, you might need to make some hard choices, but as information is released, you can start to make a list of which experiences you'd like to prioritize and backups.

Explore the D23 Expo show floor. Between the exhibits, shops, and more, there is so much to see that you don't want to miss!

Look out for giveaways from the Walt Disney Animation / Pixar Animation booth. In past years, this booth has given away posters and other exclusive, limited-edition items and merchandise.

Add a day to Disneyland. Because the Anaheim Convention Center is so close to Disneyland, it's worthwhile to spend the evenings at the park.
