What is New on the Disney Treasure?
There are two brand new dining experiences coming to the Disney Treasure: a Coco-themed theatrical experience and a Zootopia sweetshop. Read our full coverage of this brand-new Coco-themed theatrical dining experience.
The Disney Treasure will also include Disney Parks-inspired lounges and a suite for the first time featuring Jungle Cruise, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and the Haunted Mansion! EPCOT will be featured in one of the high end suites. Read more about these Disney Parks themes coming to the Disney Treasure in our guide.
We also know that the Disney Treasure will include a brand-new stage production featuring Moana. Read everything we know about this new Broadway-caliber show.
The popular attraction featured on the Disney Wish, AquaMouse, will include a brand new storyline that follows Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse on an adventure into an ancient temple. Guests will tour this mysterious ruin looking for a glimpse of treasure within as they, along with Mickey and Minnie, encounter mishaps and boobie traps along the way. AquareMouse was the first ever attraction to be featured on the Disney Cruise Line and we are excited to see it included on the Disney Treasure.
What is the Theme of the Disney Treasure?
The inspiration behind the theming of the Disney Treasure focuses on incorporating stories from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, and Disney Parks adventures. The Disney Treasure will invite guests to step into careful plazas in Mexico, navigate the winding rivers of the world, dive below the ocean’s surface, and more.
Based on the description from Disney and the concept art, I feel that the theme of this Disney Cruise Line ship is inspired by adventure and incorporates designed elements from around the world. Disney shared that they have plenty of inspiration points to draw from.
What Do The Staterooms Look Like?
The staterooms aboard the Disney Treasure will feature artwork and design elements of films including “Aladdin,” “Pocahontas,” “Up” and “Encanto” to convey the inspiration of classic Disney tales of adventure.
The concierge and royal suites will focus on character journeys along with “feline sidekicks” from “The Lion King,” “The Jungle Book” and “Aladdin.”
Disney Treasure’s concierge level suites feature interiors inspired by the grasslands Simba calls home in “The Lion King.”
Hands down the most exciting of all these new suite designs is the one modeled after EPCOT's Spaceship Earth, more on this below!
Disney Treasure Great Hall
The Grand Hall is the main gathering space with its own dedicated entertainment, moments, and surprises. This is often where guests can mingle with characters and serves as the central space of the ship.
The statues and décor will focus on the ship's theme of adventure and will call on inspiration from the gilded palace and wonder of Agrabah from the film “Aladdin”
Disney Treasure Dining
The new dining experiences coming to the Disney Treasure include a Coco dining experience and a Zootopia ice cream shop. These new family-style dining experiences will join Worlds of Marvel and 1923 which are both existing and popular experiences featured on the Disney Treasure's sister ship Disney Wish.
The two walk-up cafes on the Disney Treasure will also receive new theming focusing on Disney Princesses. Familiar favorites will also join the Disney Treasure dining line up like adult-focused dining experiences and counter service options.
Plaza de Coco
Plaza de Coco will be the first theatrical dining experience themed to the popular film Coco. The Coco-themed dining experience will feature dining tables surrounding a central stage where performances and show effects spread throughout the room.
There will be two different nights of dining experiences at Plaza de Coco guests can experience. On the first night, the story of Miguel and his familia will continue from where the movie ends. Miguel and his familia will take guests on a music-filled journey that celebrates family memories and togetherness. On the second night, Miguel will be reunited with his great-great-grandparents, Hector and Mama Imelda, and transport them to Santa Cecilia with his magic guitar for a Día de los Muertos celebration.
Both evenings will include a dinner menu of twists on traditional Mexican food along with live entertainment.
Worlds of Marvel
This Marvel experience has been a rave from all the guests that have experienced it so far! Guests can join Ant-Man and the Wasp during “Avengers: Quantum Encounter” and use their own interactive Quantum Core at the table to shrink and grow objects at the push of a button.
The dining experience features a diverse menu from all-American to rich African flavors.
1923
Jumbeaux’s Sweets
Luxury Adult Dining
The Disney Treasure will also include three luxury dining experiences we've also seen on Disney Wish. The Rose, Palo Steakhouse, and Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallament will be the adult-focused dining experiences.
New Themes for Walk-Up Dining
One of the two casual walk-up cafes, Heihei Café, will draw inspiration from Moana with furniture stylings that pay homage to construction techniques used by the Polynesian people to craft seafaring vessels. Jade Cricket Café is inspired by Mulan and honors the Fa Family's “lucky” cricket with a jade sculpture and blue theming inspired by Mulan's armor.
Disney Parks Attraction Inspired Areas
There will be three areas inspired by Disney Parks attractions on the Disney Treasure plus we also received a teaser for a potential fourth area focusing on the Haunted Mansion.
Skipper Society
Skipper Society Lounge is the Jungle Cruise-themed lounge created in the vision of higher-end skippers relaxing at the end of their day. This venue features natural colorways along with camp-style furnishings all paying tribute to the famous Jungle Crusie skippers.
This lounge will include references to the Jungle Cruise all through the space including a whimsical monkey-shaped chandelier to postcards and luggage tags.
Periscope Pub
Periscope Pub will become the Disney Cruise Line's first venue inspired by Walt Disney’s 1954 film, “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. This film was also a celebrated Disney Parks attraction that was open at Walt Disney World from 1971 to 1994.
The design of this lounge will feature submarine-style interiors along with 19th-century steampunk influences with metal and industrial touches. The lounge also features a window along the ceiling which will make guests feel like Captain Nemo on the Nautilus. This new lounge will immerse guests inside the nautilus and they might just see the squid go past the mysterious window! The menu will focus on craft brews and light snacks which is fitting with the atmosphere of the lounge.
Tomorrow Tower Suite
Spaceship Earth, sometimes referred to as the EPCOT golfball by casual Disney fans, will receive its own suite inspired by its energetic design. Tomorrow Tower Suite will evoke the atmosphere of EPCOT's World Discovery neighborhood with art pieces, metal accents and futuristic colorful glass.
This suite is set high up in the ship's forward funnel and will overlook the top deck of the Disney Treasure through a large two-story window. This suite will be massive with nearly 2,000 square feet of space and comfortably sleep eight guests. This suite also includes perks like a full kitchen and a private ensuite elevator.
Haunted Mansion Parlor
Disney Treasure Stage Shows
There will be a brand new stage production coming to the Walt Disney Theatre onboard the Disney Treasure. This is exciting news as these Broadway-caliber shows are some of the biggest highlights of a Disney Cruise.
This new stage production will join existing favorites featured on other Disney Cruise ships, “Beauty and the Beast” and “Disney Seas the Adventure.”
Walt Disney Theatre
The three live stage shows will be held in the Walt Disney Theatre. The theatre is described as a show “palace” and the image above shows the same royal touches we've seen in other elements of the concept art for the Disney Treasure.
The live entertainment on Disney Cruise Lines is a must-see as these are Broadway-caliber performances unique to these cruises.
New Stage Show Coming to Disney Treasure
Disney has announced that there will also be a brand new third show created just for the Disney Treasure. This new show will focus on Moana and is titled “Disney The Tale of Moana.” This new show will be exclusive to the Disney Treasure and follow the story of Moana as she goes on the journey to save her island and restore the heart of Te Fiti. Characters like Gramma Tala, Maui, and Tamatoa will also be featured in the show plus popular songs from the film's soundtrack.
This new Moana show sounds incredible as it features new larger-than-life puppets by the puppet designers who worked on Disney’s Tony Award-winning musical “The Lion King” on Broadway. The largest puppe featured will be Te Kā which is on a scale Disney Cruise Line has never before produced. This same giant Te Kā puppet will transform into the gentle island goddess of Te Fiti once Moana restores her heart.
Moana and Maui will perform “Warrior Face” along with other classic favorites from the soundtrack like “You’re Welcome,” “We Know The Way” and “How Far I’ll Go.” The music of the show also includes a mix of languages including Tuvaluan, Tokelauan, and Samoan plus the set design is inspired by the cultures of the Pacific Islands which is especially apparent when they are on the island of Motunui.
The show sounds breathtaking, especially the song “How Far I'll Go,” with the stage demonstrating Moana's Journey with stars overhead, and a glowing manta ray to symbolize the spirit of Gramma Tala.
Beauty and the Beast Stage Show
The Beauty and the Beast stage show, already featured aboard the Disney Dream, will also be playing onboard the new Disney Treasure. This popular show holds true to the original as it focuses on the story of Belle and the Beast including favorite songs along with the two songs written by Alan Menken and Tim Rice for the reimagined film. The live stage show includes puppetry, modern theatrical design, and impressive story-telling techniques.
Seas the Adventure Show
Seas the Adventure is a show also shown on Disney Wish that showcases an adventure with Goofy as he encounters popular Disney characters and fan favorites. Some of the best moments of this show include Princess Tiana performing her song “Almost There” and Crush and Squirt from Finding Nemo showing Goofy how to “Go with the Flow” in a rendition of the song from the musical live adaptation from Animal Kingdom. There show also includes an original arrangement of Disney heroines that is exclusive to the show as Elsa, Moana, and Merida perform a powerful medley of “Into the Unknown,” “How Far I’ll Go” and “Touch the Sky.”
More Disney Treasure Recreation
Aside from all the amazing live stage performances, interactive dining experiences, and Disney Parks-inspired lounges, there is still a full list of Disney Cruise Line recreation for adults and kids to enjoy on the Disney Treasure.
AquaMouse- Disney Cruise Attraction
The AquaMouse was the first ever attraction to be featured on a Disney Cruise Line ship and first made its appearance on the Disney Wish. The Disney Treasure will also have its own AquaMouse ride with a brand new storyline as guests follow Mickey and Minnie Mouse through a mysterious ruin as they search for treasure.
Deck Pools and Splash Areas
There are seven pools staggered amongst the decks with an abundance of lounge chairs.
Sarabi
Sarabi will be the central space for daytime activities and adult- exclusive evening entertainment inspired by the natural beauty and openness of a savanna. It is named after Simba's mother, Sarabi, from the popular “The Lion King” film.
Deck Parties
The Disney Treasure will also include the traditional Disney Cruise Line nighttime deck celebration called Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party. This event happens one night of every voyage and guests can don pirate costumes and head to the deck for a pirate theme showing with fireworks.
Disney Cruise Spa & Salon
There will be both a spa and salon onboard the Disney Treasure which are similar to these amenities offered on other Disney Cruise Line ships. The Senses Spa includes private treatment rooms, spa villas, wellness rooms, fitness studio, plus a steam room.
The Untangled Spa is inspired by Rapunzel and offers manicures, pedicures, teeth whitening, and skin treatments. There is also a barbershop themed after Captain Hook called Hook's Barbery.
Disney Treasure also includes other popular amenities Disney Cruise Line usually offers on their cruise ships such as a teen area, a nursery, a kids space and an activity zone for families to enjoy.
Some of these areas include Star Wars: Cargo Bay where guests can search for creatures and characters from Star Wars along with an area to interact with Disney Princesses.
The Disney Treasure is truly an amazing addition to the fleet of Disney Cruise Ships!
