Disneyland Resort Gets Colorful New Cast Member Nametags

Disney name tags are a longstanding tradition for Cast Members, and these have evolved and changed throughout the years. They are meant to represent Walt Disney's vision of hospitality and Cast Members who go above and beyond to create magical experiences for guests every day!

Starting off the new year, the Disneyland Resort Cast Members are getting brand-new nametags, and Disney has shared a look at these with us! Keep reading to see the design of these new Disneyland nametags and the inspiration behind them.

New Disneyland Nametags Details

The new nametags that Cast Members are beginning to wear this month feature an eye-catching design with colorful pixie dust, the Sleeping Beauty Castle and Pixar Pal-A-Round landmarks, and the words “The Happiest Place on Earth” along the bottom.

Ken Potrock, President of the Disneyland Resort, shares that when he is asked about the inspiration behind these, he thinks of the DisneylandForward initiative and the desire to bring new experiences to the parks. In his post on Disney Parks Blog, Potrock comments, “It’s a special time as we dream about what the next decades could bring to The Happiest Place on Earth, and the team did an amazing job representing our optimism in this new design.”

Potrock's intentional mention of the DisneylandForward initiative is a little bit jarring in the quote above, but it is a good reminder that that effort remains front of mind for Disneyland Resort leadership. For those who haven't been following closely, I highly recommend you look into our complete coverage of the DisneylandForward project and what this expansion is and more importantly is not. As a further tease, here's the concept artwork that was released for that effort.

Now, back to the design of the new Disneyland name tags!

The previous Disney100 nametags included the favorite character of the Cast Member, and now the nametags have returned to listing their hometown. The design of these new, brightly-colored nametags created by the costume design & development team “represents the energy our cast members bring to making magic for our guests,” according to Potrock.

I like that they switched back to featuring the hometown for the Cast Members. As a Californian I always found it very nice to be able to connect with those Cast Members we met throughout our visit and understand where they were coming from. It definitely feels like more of a genuine conversation starter than a favorite character, though that may have worked better for some.
