Disney is creating the world's first Haunted Mansion-themed bar! The bar will introduce guests to the “next chapter of the Haunted Mansion saga,” featuring inspired drinks, exclusive merchandise, spooky decor, and more.
This bar is bound to be a popular offering due to how beloved the original Haunted Mansion attraction is. We will share the concept art of the design, some of the fun signature drinks that will be offered, and more details that Disney has shared on this new experience!
In addition to this offering onboard the Disney Treasure, Disney's newest cruise ship, several exciting experiences are in the works, from the debut of the Skipper Society lounge inspired by the Jungle Cruise attraction to a Coco-themed theatrical dining experience. Costume Reveal for Haunted Mansion Bar Cast Members
At D23 (Disney's biggest fan convention) the full costumes for the cast members in the Haunted Mansion bar were revealed.
During the panel, Disney described the care and dedication that went into these costumes since the original attraction costumes are some of their most iconic. They wanted to make sure these costumes carried some of that same iconic philosophy while also building out a brand new story for the Haunted Mansion Parlor and aesthetic. The color palettes are similar in the costume design but also hidden elements like the stripe that's on the shirt to evoke the iconic wallpaper.
Haunted Mansion Bar Details
Most of the storyline for the Haunted Mansion Parlor has been revealed along with additional new concept art. The story goes that the ship parlor once belonged to a sea captain and his strange fiancé. Their sudden and mysterious disappearance will be alluded to with clues hidden around the bar.
The Haunted Mansion bar will feature a ghost fish aquarium (pictured above) that ties together the theme of the ocean with the spooky atmosphere of the Haunted Mansion.
This spooky fish aquarium was actually part of the original Haunted Mansion concept art created by Imagineer Rolly Crump. Now more than 50 years later, this original sketch was referenced for inspiration to create the “Aquarium with Ghost Fish” for the Haunted Mansion Parlor.
The aquarium is part of this new backstory created just for the Haunted Mansion Parlor. The Captain was last seen heading to his parlor for a special meal prepared by his bride but after they vanished, all that was left was his hat floating in the aquarium tank. You can see the tank side by side with the original concept art above.
Just like the Haunted Mansion attraction in Disneyland and Walt Disney World, the Haunted Mansion bar on the Disney Treasure will also feature its own eerie portrait gallery. Most of these portraits are unique to the Disney Treasure as they combine the ghostly elements of the attraction with nautical themes. We will see one familiar face, The Mariner Ghost above, originally created by Disney animator Marc Davis. This portrait is featured in Haunted Mansion attraction at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
The portrait gallery will feature The Captain whom most of this storyline revolves around along with his mysterious bride to be.
This portrait is similar to the existing “cat lady” concept in the Haunted Mansion but with a sea creature spin. This new character is The Captain's Bride. The portrait will flicker to her reveal her “true form and perhaps true intentions.”
This portrait further ties into the storyline of The Captain and his later disappearance. The Captain first encountered his bride to be after receiving a distress call and when he arrived he only found one survivor- the women featured in the portrait.
Just like the portraits in the attraction, these will change to reflect a more ghostly appearance. I love the spooky mermaid take we see above!
It's a big deal for Haunted Mansion fans to see this many new characters introduced into the fandom surrounding this popular Disney Parks rides!
Haunted Mansion Bar Merchandise
There will be a variety of Haunted Mansion bar merchandise that will be exclusive to the Disney Treasure. The newest offerings announced for this include:
The new portraits in the Haunted Mansion Parlor will be featured in new Disney Cruise Line-exclusive commemorative mugs that will debut on the Disney Treasure. You can see The Mariner featured above!
The ceramic mugs look like they are carved from wooden planks of a ghost ship. Another mug will feature The Captain's bride.
You can look at all the previously announced merchandise below, I anticipate this all selling out fast on the initial sailings!
- The Haunted Mansion Parlor Music Box is inspired by a music box you will find inside the parlor, rumored to belong to the captain's fiance, that only opens in the presence of malevolent spirits.
- The Haunted Mansion Parlor clock is inspired by the old grandfather clock from the original Haunted Mansion attraction. In the video, you can see it glowing green and striking midnight.
- The Haunted Mansion Parlor Mirror will feature the surprise appearance of the iconic hitchhiking ghosts in the frame.
New Sculpture Coming to Haunted Mansion Bar
A new sculpture is being made for the Haunted Mansion Parlor at the Walt Disney Imagineering Workshop at Disney World. This sculpture was modeled in the image of Rolly Crump, who played an integral role in designing the original Haunted Mansion attraction. The Haunted Mansion Parlor will be “imbued with Crump’s unique brand of humor” and serve as a continuation of his legacy.
As part of Rolly's concept for a “Museum of the Weird” in the Haunted Mansion, he originally envisioned a character that would appear to be melting like a candle. The design for Rolly's memorial bust is inspired by this idea, with sculpted drips on the side of his face and a memorial plaque that says, “BROTHER ROLAND- FOREVER REVERED FOR EMBRACING THE WEIRD.” This Rolly Crump statue will have a place of honor in the Haunted Mansion Parlor on the Disney Treasure.
See the sculpture below:
Haunted Mansion Bar Design
The Haunted Mansion bar aboard the Disney Treasure will be called the Haunted Mansion Parlor. The bar will feature craft cocktails, exclusive merchandise, and spooky decor to bring to life the story of “a jovial captain who entered the ghostly realm after a disastrous dinner with his beloved fiancé.”
The design of the bar is modeled after a first-class drawing room of a classic cruise liner from the golden age, with recognizable Haunted Mansion details highlighted throughout like the wallpaper and purple armchair.
The bar contains tributes to Haunted Mansion attractions around the world, including a portrait gallery of the ghosts of the Disney Treasure featuring characters from the original attractions alongside “some new seafaring arrivals.”
You can see the video below on our Facebook page for the first look at the experience that Disney shared.
From the eerie lighting to haunted paintings, Disney has captured the essence of this beloved attraction in the concept rendering of the new Haunted Mansion bar debuting onboard the Disney Treasure.
Haunted Mansion Bar Drinks
Disney also revealed a sneak-peek at some of the Haunted Mansion-inspired drinks that guests can look forward to enjoying at the bar, complete with recipes to make these at home in the meantime.
These include choices with fun names like the “Sympathetic Libations” featuring sour cherry and blood orange flavors, the “Ghoulish Delight” with decadent ube fudge, oat milk, and tapioca pearls combined into a glittery purple concoction (garnished with a gummy eyeball), and the “Signature Beverage,” which will be a ghostly twist on a classic margarita, presented to guests amidst a swirl of flavored smoke. The “Signature Beverage” will be topped with lemon salt foam and hide a secret message that can only be revealed by black light.
This news of the Haunted Mansion bar comes as Disneyland is looking at other Haunted Mansion theme park expansions.
Disneyland Haunted Mansion Expansion
We're looking forward to seeing the debut of this one-of-a-kind Haunted Mansion bar! Disney also recently announced that Disneyland's original Haunted Mansion attraction in New Orleans Square will be undergoing an expansion that will build on the lore of the attraction, feature a new retail shop belonging to Madame Leota, and expand the outdoor queue.
You can read more about the details of this expansion in our guide to the Haunted Mansion Expansion Coming to Disneyland.
