One of Our Favorite Disney California Adventure Rides Is Closing Soon for Refurbishment

Disneyland will schedule routine maintenance for rides throughout the year, and sometimes this means that some of our favorites will be closed temporarily. While updating our Disneyland refurbishments article, we saw that a new closure has been added to the calendar for an extremely popular ride this spring.

It's important to stay up-to-date on all Disneyland ride closures so that you aren't caught off-guard during your visit! This ride closure is for one of the best Disneyland rides at the resort that is consistently in high demand.

We will share what we know so far about this upcoming ride closure at Disneyland!

One of the most popular Disney California Adventure rides, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout!, will be closing for refurbishment on March 10, 2025. This is one of the key thrill rides in the park that takes you on a thrilling mission to rescue the Guardians of the Galaxy, and its lines are consistently long with Lightning Lane Multi Pass return times selling out very quickly.

We do not yet have an end date for the closure as it is at the far end of what is visible on the Disneyland calendar, but we will update our refurbishment guide above as soon as an end date is announced. This refurbishment comes right before the busy Spring Break period at Disneyland, so we know they hope that it isn't a very long closure.

It's interesting that they are choosing to fully close the ride down because there are often quiet closures for this attraction and Tower of Terror. They can pretty easily just shut down one of the elevator shafts and have the ride function at half capacity. It causes higher wait times but keeps the attraction available.

While Guardians of the Galaxy is down, you can expect longer lines at some of the other key thrill rides at the park like Radiator Springs Racers and the Incredicoaster. (Tip: we always recommend utilizing Single Rider for Radiator Springs Racers to cut down on your wait time!)
