This May Now Be My Favorite Place to Watch Disneyland Fireworks. Must Do!

During a recent trip to Disneyland, I tried out something that's been on my list since it first debuted—a new way to watch the fireworks at Disneyland.

You have always been able to see the fireworks from inside Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge but for the first couple of years no specific music was played. This unique perspective on the fireworks was recently officially into its own fireworks show. The Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge fireworks were given a storyline and a new score of galactic music earlier this year, and the experience became a permanent offering in the land from that point onwards.

We recently enjoyed this Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge fireworks viewing, and here is why we think the experience is a must-do during your visit…

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Fireworks Viewing Experience

The new viewing experience was officially integrated into the land during last year's Season of the Force celebration, and it was extended to become a permanent feature of the land. (A particularly exciting aspect of the upcoming Season of the Force celebration in 2025 is that new projection effects will be added to Fire of the Rising Moons!)

The show is offered on select nights when fireworks are occurring (usually at 9:30pm) and follows a unique story that is specific to the land. The premise of the show is that “villagers and visitors alike come together to celebrate their freedom and to honor the heroes and legends who came before them.”

Another unique aspect of this show is that the droid who is mentioned in the story's introduction is featured off to the right of the Millennium Falcon. The fireworks experience is introduced by storyteller Tohan Lege who is known as the “Lore-weaver.” He found and repaired an old astromech droid, named Bard, who helped to record all of the Lore-weaver's stories.

You can see this show from several spots in Galaxy's Edge, but the coolest view is of the fireworks over the Millennium Falcon. We sat down next to the door to Docking Bay 7, one of our Mickey Visit best Disneyland restaurants, and were able to sit in these seats with a direct view of the fireworks without any real obstructions.

There is also a fireworks viewing experience offered here via the dining package for Fire of the Rising Moons which recently debuted. The dining package includes a meal at Docking Bay 7 and exclusive access to a standing view area of Falcon Overlook.

We could also have stood down by the Millennium Falcon to watch with that in direct view. The crowds weren't terrible back here. This was during the weekend that we call the best time of the year to visit Disneyland so it definitely isn't always this empty back here.

The fireworks view back here are incredible. Combine them with the great John Williams Star Wars music that brings in favorite melodies from all of the movies. This is a new favorite place to watch the fireworks and a must-do for fans of Star Wars.

On our way we stopped at the Stage Door Cafe in Frontierland to pick up a corn dog that we put in a Mobile Order for – please forgive me for the pool of ranch in the below photo. It comes out quickly. After that, we also grabbed a Ronto Wrap before the fireworks.

There's also another spot to see the fireworks with the audio from closer to the entrance to the land.

Hearing the Star Wars music pumping throughout the land makes me wish there was always some kind of background music loop throughout the land. The music used here was fantastic.

The Fire of the Rising Moons fireworks experience changes with the different fireworks shows at Disneyland, so as these rotate, the music will change. We had spoken to Michael Serna, Executive Creative Director with Disney Live Entertainment, when the experience was brand new, and he had commented how a perk of the rotating music was that “if you don’t hear your favorite song now, you’re going to probably hear it in the next one.”

After the show, we were able to immediately speed walk over to get on Rise of the Resistance with a very minimal 20-minute wait time.
