Major new attractions and overhauls of classic experiences are coming to Walt Disney World theme parks. These projects span all four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Among the highlights is a new land focused on Disney Villains and a new ride based on Encanto.

New and Reimagined Rides at All 4 Disney World Theme Parks
Walt Disney World updated its website “Coming to the Parks” section highlighting some of the newly announced rides and attractions coming soon. We’ll share the before and after of each description and note what changed, plus whether each revision is significant. Some of these are based on the recent announcements made at D23.
A new land called Tropical Americas is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom with Encanto and Indiana Jones rides. The construction site for Encanto is pictured above, showing what will one day be the Madrigals’ Casita. Following some big news from D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the Disney World website was updated with the official names for the Tropical Americas attractions. 2027 as the project’s opening year was removed from the page, but that doesn’t necessarily indicate a change of schedule. Disney didn’t mention 2027 when discussing Tropical Americas at D23, but previously publicized a 2027 opening.

Disney also removed the “Pueblo Esperanza” subtitle from the land’s formal name on the website, but it’s less surprising that this was removed and more surprising that it was ever listed that way to begin with. Pueblo Esperanza is the name of the fictional village where the Tropical Americas land will take place, but nowhere else had Disney referred to this as part of the project’s official name. This would be like if Cars Land at Disney California Adventure was subtitled as “Radiator Springs,” which it isn’t.

Monstropolis, a new land based on Monsters, Inc., is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney’s website language removed the mention of the land’s suspended roller coaster, but that ride is still very much actively under construction. Since the coaster will open with Phase 2 of Monstropolis, we suspect it was removed from the verbiage so as to not confuse guests about what’s opening first. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress closed at Magic Kingdom in July 2026 for a major overhaul. It will reopen in spring 2027. Disney updated its website language to specify what to expect from the new show. Though Disney removed the mention of the Walt Disney Audio-Animatronics figure coming to the updated production, the figure is still part of the revamp. Villains Land is coming to Magic Kingdom as an entire area dedicated to the antagonists of Walt Disney Animation Studios films. Disney specified the land’s newly announced name on the park website and added rides that were recently revealed at D23. See more of those details and remarks from Imagineers.

Piston Peak National Park is under construction at Magic Kingdom. Disney added the official names of this area’s new rides to its website.

In the coming years, Imagineers will overhaul a pair of classic EPCOT attractions: Journey Into Imagination With Figment and Spaceship Earth. Disney added these projects and brief descriptions to its website. Notably, the former attraction is referred to simply as “Journey Into Imagination,” its original 1983 name, rather than its full current name, “Journey Into Imagination With Figment”.
Journey Into Imagination | Dreamfinder, a whimsical dream-chaser who helped bring imagination to life, will be returning to the Imagination! Pavilion at EPCOT.
Spaceship Earth | Look forward to visiting this classic attraction re-Imagineered, bringing it into the internet age and beyond. Spaceship Earth currently tells the story of human communication, but the reimagination will be on a broader theme that is classically EPCOT: human connection.
