Special Disneyland Star Wars Fireworks Presentation Dates Extended

Season of the Force at Disneyland has officially kicked off, with offerings including exciting new additions like the new Star Tours scenes (see our experience and review of these!) and a new way to experience the Disneyland fireworks from Galaxy's Edge.

Disneyland had previously shared that this new experience, called “Fire of the Rising Moons,” would be a celebration where “villagers and visitors alike come together to celebrate their freedom and to honor the heroes and legends who came before them.” This unique perspective on the Disneyland fireworks will feature galactic music, including selections from composer John Williams’ Star Wars film scores, and can be viewed from multiple areas of Galaxy's Edge.

Excitingly, this special Star Wars fireworks viewing will not just be a limited-time offering for Season of the Force but will be offered beyond the event for the different fireworks shows at the park. Keep reading for everything you need to know!

Disneyland Galaxy's Edge Star Wars Fireworks

Season of the Force fireworks

While “Fire of the Rising Moons” will be available starting with the Season of the Force celebration, this offering will be continued for each Disneyland fireworks show at the park. We were surprised to hear this, as it initially sounded like this was only going to be a temporary offering for the event.

As part of a media event for the launch of Season of the Force, I got the opportunity to speak with Michael Serna, Executive Creative Director with Disney Live Entertainment, who confirmed that the show is “not a limited-time offering, Fire of the Rising Moons is from here on out.”

This means that when the fireworks show at Disneyland changes for the upcoming Pixar Fest, “Fire of the Rising Moons” will be adjusted for that experience, and so on. Serna spoke about how this affects the songs that visitors will hear during the experience, as when the different fireworks shows change, the music will change. He said, “if you don’t hear your favorite song now, you’re going to probably hear it in the next one.”

Season of the Force

Serna also shared some commentary on the music that visitors will get to hear during this experience: “I mean, this music is so iconic, and it has such an emotional connection to everybody, and for me, it is about finding that emotional core connection you have. Whether it was from 1977 or more recently, we want to be able to grab that feeling you had the first time you heard that music, the first time you felt that emotion, maybe a little teary-eyed like I get sometimes when I hear it, and so that does half the work for us. We know people want to see fireworks already from Batuu, but adding that extra element and amping it up is really what I’m excited about, people to really celebrate with us this wonderful end of the day, surviving the resistance winning out over the First Order, and celebrating Fire of the Rising Moons.”

The above quotes have been lightly edited for clarity.

Galaxy's Edge Disneyland

There is something really special about the Star Wars music, so getting the opportunity to hear it with the visuals of the Disneyland fireworks will make for a really memorable experience. We're excited to see the presence of the Disneyland fireworks being officially integrated into the land and remaining a part of Galaxy's Edge! Visitors will be able to view the show from multiple areas in Galaxy’s Edge, including the Black Spire Spaceport, the TIE Echelon docking platform, and the speeder garage.
