Disneyland's Haunted Mansion has recently gotten some exciting new additions with a reimagined queue experience and a new retail shop next to the attraction. The new Haunted Mansion queue experience that builds on the lore of the attraction recently debuted, and now work on the Haunted Mansion retail shop has been completed!
The new shop is inspired by Madame Leota and offers a selection of merchandise themed to the Haunted Mansion and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Disney had previously shared a first look inside the shop and the news that it would be opening this winter. This new reveal comes after we just got a chance to see the first ever Disney Haunted Mansion bar.
Keep reading for the reveal of the new Haunted Mansion shop that is now open, plus something surprising about its design…

The new Haunted Mansion retail shop, Madame Leota's Somewhere Beyond, is open as of December 23. The story behind the shop is that it is the carriage house of the mansion that Madame Leota ultimately moved into. You'll find a variety of merchandise here including apparel, accessories, home decor, and more.
There are some fun references to the attraction in this new shop that is filled with “eclectic furniture including a crystal ball, fainting couch and the original parlor chandelier that Leota used in séances.”
There are also musical instruments in the shop that are a nod to the instruments in the ride's seance room.
Other interesting references include a bat lamp that was previously featured in the former Le Bat En Rouge shop and a portrait that honors Disney Imagineer Leota Toombs Thomas, whose likeness was used to create Madame Leota. This is one of several interesting secrets about Disney's Haunted Mansion.
One of the most interesting parts of the new store, and something that many have pointed out during its construction, is its scale. We've seen some comments that the size and placement of the shop was surprising and an interesting choice.

Even though its exterior is a muted color, it is definitely still quite conspicuous between the two major attractions it sits between. The concept art for the attraction (below) used perspective that made it look a lot smaller than the final product ended up looking.
The shop looks huge compared to the Haunted Mansion and Tiana's Bayou Adventure next door. It also blocks the view of Tiana's Bayou Adventure as you walk that direction. We completely understand the need for the shop here, but think that they could have done more to hide the store and reduce its profile. The second story of the building also seems completely unnecessary as the story isn't actually a used floor but does make this building stick out way more.
We haven't yet seen the store in person. I'll reserve final judgement on how the building looks until we see the finishes completed, but no change will improve the look of the scale vs the other attractions.
Haunted Mansion Holiday will be open for a couple more weeks before it closes for refurbishment to remove the overlay at the end of the Disneyland Christmas celebration. See the dates for that closure and when it will be reopening in our Disneyland refurbishments guide.
