Unlisted Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel Perk You Have to Try

There are many existing on property hotel perks for guests that opt to stay at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels including Early Entry which allows guests into the parks 30 minutes early.

I have one unlisted perk that I consider a must-do for those staying at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa. This is something that I enjoy every time I stay.

The hotel has a theme park entrance that connects the hotel to Disney California Adventure. Walking through the entrance takes you directly from the Grand Californian pool area to the Grizzly River Run attraction entrance.

Grizzly River Run to Grand Californian Pool Loop

Grizzly River Run is a water rapids ride that will invariably get riders wet or maybe I should say soaked. It is to a point where I will NOT ride this attraction if I am generally touring the parks.

There is one time that I will ride and LOVE riding this attraction. That time is when I am staying at Disney’s Grand Californian.

When staying at the hotel I highly recommend a Grizzly River Run to the pool loop. I put on my bathing suit and throw my phone in the laundry bag from the hotel room so that it doesn’t get wet and head over.

You could wait in the normal line or use Genie Plus, but I like to make it even easier by taking advantage of the Single Rider Line.

I will walk up to the attraction and grab a Single Rider pass from the front attendant and then walk up to board the attraction. For this ride you walk through the exit. There is rarely a wait here unless it is the peak of the summer. Even then this line moves quickly.

I’ll then ride the attraction and yes, I’ll get wet. With Single Rider I will often ride multiple times with no or minimal wait.

One thing I love about Single Rider is that I end up with riders from other families from totally different backgrounds. I love hearing about how people are planning their days or listening in on someone’s first ride. Plenty of times you’ll hear people shocked that you get wet on the ride. During those comments I just stay silent and wait for them to be shocked by how soaked they end up.

Then, after I have had my fill I head over to the pool area to cool off and relax. This makes it far more enjoyable to get soaked on the ride when you know a hot tub and fresh change of clothes is available not long afterwards.
