BREAKING! Disneyland Haunted Mansion Dropping Virtual Queue, But Ride Closing Again Soon

Disneyland's Haunted Mansion has been under construction for nearly a year for a grounds expansion adding an expanded outdoor queue, a retail shop, and accessibility improvements. While the ride reopened this summer via virtual queue access only while work on the queue continued, many have been asking when the construction at the Haunted Mansion will be completed.

Disneyland has now announced during the busy holiday season that Haunted Mansion Holiday's virtual queue will be ending, as well as news on when it will be closing to transform back into the regular Haunted Mansion, which has not been available for over a year now due to the construction. They also released a new ride closing date.

Disneyland has shared that the Virtual Queue for the Haunted Mansion will no longer be offered, and guests will once again be able to utilize the standby queue for the attraction or access it via Lightning Lane Multi Pass and the new Lightning Lane Premier Pass.

Guests with a mobility device can use the main queue and entrance to the attraction, and they will now exit using a new accessible elevator that “extends the story of the attraction with a gallery of original Imagineering artwork and more.”

Disney also shared that the Haunted Mansion Holiday will be running “through the holiday season in early 2025.” The holiday celebration is set to run through January 6, 2025, so the Haunted Mansion will be closing for refurbishment on January 7 to be returned to the original Haunted Mansion.

NEW Haunted Mansion Queue Experience

Haunted Mansion new queue changes

The expanded Haunted Mansion queue has now officially been revealed! The expansion builds on the lore of the attraction and features new gardens inspired by Master Gracey, Madame Leota, and the one-eyed cat.

The queue features the Spanish fountain that used to sit in the middle of Magnolia Park, the newly enhanced area between Tiana's Palace and the Haunted Mansion.

In the queue, you'll find the figure of the black cat poised ready to pounce.

A pair of ravens, which “often represent a connection between the world of the living and the spirit world,” guard the new gardens.

The queue features new additions like a personal garden retreat designed by Master Gracey. Visitors can explore details inside the gazebo where Gracey goes to reflect on his past, including a bench, book, astrological armillary sphere, and a smoking pipe.

Further into the queue is Madame Leota's garden, where there are small statuary of frogs, lizards, rats, and a cymbal-playing monkey which are all “frozen in time like they are under an incantation.” This garden also features a motif of fortune-telling orbs as seen in the photo below.

There is an oak tree in the center of the courtyard that Leota has decorated with ornaments, chimes, and bells.

The Mansion Greenhouse in the queue belongs to all of the Haunted Mansion's ghosts, where they “cultivate the most unusual of plant species.”

There were also enhancements made to New Orleans Square, including the new Magnolia Park in front of the train station in the area adjacent to Tiana's Palace.
