Disneyland Lunar New Year Food 2025

Disneyland celebrates Lunar New Year in the same style of food festival marketplace booths you will see during the holiday season and the Food & Wine Festival which you can find located on the pathway to Paradise Gardens.

These marketplace food booths are extremely popular which means lines can get long around peak lunch and dinner times, so hitting the booths outside those normal ‘eating' times can save you time spent in line. Or better yet, use mobile ordering for the Lunar New Year food options that offer that service like Paradise Garden Grill.

You can also order all of the food items you're interested in from one of the booths instead of going to each individual booth to order. The Cast Member will give you a receipt with the items listed out, and you'll then hang onto this and use it to redeem all of your food items from the various booths. When you arrive at each booth to pick up the items, the Cast Member there will ask for the receipt and cross out the item.

Disneyland Lunar New Year 2025 Sip and Savor Pass

Sip and Savor Pass Lunar New Year Disneyland

The Sip and Savor Pass, which consists of a commemorative lanyard and 6 coupons redeemable for food and beverage offerings (excluding alcohol), is redeemable for select food items at participating Lunar New Year Marketplaces and dining locations. You can read more about the Disney California Adventure Sip and Savor pass here.

Disneyland recently introduced a new way to redeem Sip and Savor Pass coupons with a scannable pass. To redeem one of these digital coupons, you will show your Sip and Savor pass to a Cast Member to scan, and then you will enter the 4-digit code on the pass. When your receipt is printed, you can see the remaining number of coupons. Or, if you are not sure how many you still have, you can ask a Cast Member at a festival marketplace to scan your pass and confirm the number. We thought the scannable Sip and Savor pass was very straightforward to use. One thing to note is that on the receipt, it says “Disney Dining Plan Balance,” but this is just how it is notated and does not mean that the Disney Dining Plan is available at Disneyland.

The Sip and Savor offerings at participating locations will be tasting-sized portions rather than full-sized entrees.

Disneyland Lunar New Year Sip and Savor Pass designs

The passes this year will be available in three new designs that pay homage to either Chinese, Vietnamese, or Korean cultures, featuring Disney characters in culturally-inspired outfits designed by artist Ann Shen.

Disneyland Lunar New Year Sip and Savor Pass designs

The Sip and Savor Pass can be redeemed at the Disney California Adventure marketplaces below as well as select dining locations.

Lunar New Year Marketplaces

  • Longevity Noodle Co.
  • Lucky 8 Lantern
  • Prosperity Bao & Buns
  • Red Dragon Spice Traders
  • Bamboo Blessings
  • Wrapped with Love

Each Sip and Savor Pass is $48. In addition to a reduced price of $45, Disneyland Magic Key Holders will also receive a special Magic Keyholder lanyard. Applicable taxes are included.

You can purchase your Sip and Savor Pass at the following locations:

  • Elias & Co.
  • Festival Gifts
  • Festive Food Marketplace
  • Julius Katz & Sons
  • Seaside Souvenirs
  • Sip and Savor Cart

To get the most for your money, be sure to get a good idea of how much you will eat and if buying a pass is the most cost-effective option. You'll have the option to choose higher-value items when selecting which Lunar New Year snacks to redeem your pass for. One way to get a good deal is to split this with your group so that everyone can try everything for less money.

Lunar New Year Character Meet and Greets

You can also look forward to special character meet and greets at Paradise Gardens Park. These meet and greets are popular since Disney brings out some rare characters for photo ops including Mulan and Mushu. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse (debuting new outfits with representations of traditional Korean attire) and Goofy also make appearances. You can find them in Paradise Gardens- be sure to check the Disneyland app for their appearance times.

The photo area takes place in a gorgeous pavilion with bamboo, peach blossoms, golden flowers, and banners bearing holiday wishes.

Previously, Disney teamed up with award-winning couture fashion designer Guo Pei, facilitated by the Asian Couture Federation, to create new Lunar New Year-inspired outfits for Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. Guo Pei is well-known throughout the fashion world in both China and internationally and has won dozens of awards for her designs. She is known for her devotion to conserving the traditional art of Chinese embroidery.

This partnership really shows the devotion to authenticity that Disney aims to accomplish with multicultural events like Lunar New Year.

NEW Lunar New Year Turning Red Characters

New characters from Disney and Pixar's “Turning Red” made their debut at the Disneyland Lunar New Year Festival. Meilin Lee and her mother, Ming Lee are available for meet and greets during the festival. Their meet-and-greet location is adjacent to The Little Mermaid ride on the path toward Grizzly Peak.

This is a great addition to the lineup of rare characters we often see at Disneyland Lunar New Year!

Pixar Parade Disneyland

Turning Red fans can also look forward to Meilin appearing in the new Pixar parade in her full Red Panda form. This parade ran for Pixar Fest after the Disneyland Lunar New Year celebration last year, and the parade will be returning for Disneyland's 70th-anniversary celebration.

Disneyland Lunar New Year 2025 Entertainment

Some of the best entertainment options featured for Disneyland's Lunar New Year include appearances from beloved Disney character Mulan and a special World of Color prelude show!

Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession

Mulan's Lunar New Year Procession travels from Hollywood Land to Paradise Gardens and features music, costumed performers, Mulan, Disney characters, a Chinese dragon puppet, warriors, and dancers. The march honors “the family, friendship, and the potential for a fortune-filled new year.”

This is the most anticipated entertainment event of Disneyland Lunar New Year, so make sure you don't miss it!

The procession and performance can be enjoyed multiple times throughout the day during the Lunar New Year celebration at 12:45 PM, 2:30 PM, 5:00 PM, and 6:45 PM. As always, check the Disneyland event calendar on the day of your visit to confirm any entertainment times.

We recommend lining up anywhere from 15-30 minutes before the show begins to get the best view as this is a popular event for Disneyland Lunar New Year. Many guests love seeing Mulan, who is a pretty rare Disney character we don't often see in the parks.

Hurry Home – Lunar New Year Celebration Returns to World of Color

Hurry Home- Lunar New Year Celebration is another popular entertainment option at Disneyland's Lunar New Year. This six minute show previously preluded the first nightly showing of World of Color in California Adventure.

The story of the show is about Little Lantern who journeys home to celebrate the new year with family and friends. Along the way, he meets Mulan and Mushu and is a celebration of friendship. The show features sky-high fountains, light effects, and a musical score that was originally created for the opening ceremony of the Shanghai Disney Resort.

To get the best spot for World of Color to enjoy this show be sure to read our full guide to World of Color including tips on getting the best seats. World of Color also offers a seated Dessert Party option for guests that are looking to pamper themselves and splurge on their trip. Read my review to see how much we enjoyed this experience this past summer!

Lucky Wishing Wall, Performances, and Kids Activities

The Lucky Wishing Wall is located in Paradise Gardens and it's where guests of all ages can add their own special messages of hope, health and happiness for the upcoming year under the strings of ornamental lanterns.

Kids can also enjoy complimentary crafts, Chinese calligraphy demonstrations, and more at Paradise Gardens. Paradise Gardens is adorned in red and gold during the Lunar New Year celebration!

There's plenty of entertainment options to enjoy at Disneyland for the Lunar New Year celebration making it a must see on your trip to Disneyland!

Disneyland Lunar New Year Merchandise

Lunar New Year merchandise in Disney California Adventure

Guests can find plenty of commemorative merchandise inspired by different cultures of East Asia. You can find spirit jerseys, themed Minnie Mouse ear headbands, Loungeflys, a Mickey plush, a traditional red envelope set, and more.

Disneyland Lunar New Year merchandise

As always, we expect the special Lunar New Year spirit jersey to be the most popular as many guests collect the different spirit jerseys released at the parks!

This year, a merchandise highlight is the Lunar New Year Lug bag. This is a super cute and functional bag!

Past Rare Character Appearances for Disneyland Lunar New Year

Last year, guests could meet Raya from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film, Raya and the Last Dragon. She appeared in a special setting inspired by her native land of Kumandra in the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.

The previous year, Oswald made regular appearances dressed in Lunar New Year attire in the Paradise Gardens gazebo located next to Goofy's Fly School. Oswald has made appearances at California Adventure before, but he's not a character you regularly see in the parks!

Even more exciting, Ortensia also did meet and greets at the Paradise Gardens gazebo for the first time ever in a US theme park! Ortensia has made an appearance at Disneyland Paris but never at Disneyland or Walt Disney World. Ortensia is featured as Oswald's girlfriend in the 1927 short film “The Banker's Daughter.”

There was a lot of hype over Ortensia's first-time experience at the parks. We were there to capture these photos on the first day of the celebration.
