The Lunar New Year celebration has kicked off at Disney California Adventure, ringing in the Year of the Snake with special entertainment, merchandise, and marketplaces celebrating Asian cuisine across the park.
We were there on the first day of the Disneyland Lunar New Year celebration (click that link for a free printable of all the new foods) this year to experience the offerings and try the foods. Below, we will share our honest opinions on the must-try foods we would recommend and the ones we would pass on.

2025 Disneyland Lunar New Year Foods Review
Before we dive into the specific food items we tried for Disneyland Lunar New Year, we wanted to take a moment to talk about the celebration's food offerings as a whole. As you can see below, there are certain dishes we loved that stood out, but others did not work quite as well.
Many of these Disneyland Lunar New Year offerings are Asian fusion, and this experimentation with certain flavors and formats makes it fall short in certain instances or compromises what could have been a 10/10 dish with more of a focus on authenticity.
This is a thought that extends beyond the food specifically to the festival as a whole. We discuss this in our Disneyland This Week article (coming soon) expressing some criticism about the execution of the celebration and what it's lacking. That being said, we do love this festival and it's a big part of what makes this time of year one of the best times to visit Disneyland for the lowest crowds.
We visit Disneyland every single week to bring you the latest from the parks. For this trip, we were invited by Disney to the launch media event for Lunar New Year. All opinions are always our own.
Now, let's dive into our Disneyland Lunar New Year foods review…
Scallion Pancake Tostada
Our favorite item we tried (tied with the dessert we mention below) was the new Scallion Pancake Tostada (fried scallion pancake, bulgogi beef, kimchi aïoli, and spicy scallion salad) from Studio Catering Co. You can get this with a Sip and Savor Pass coupon. It's a little messy to eat, but the flavors are out of this world. The beef is flavorful, the kimchi aioli is savory, and the pancake tostada is perfectly crispy. I would actually even say that this is worth getting more than one of so everyone in your party can fully enjoy it!
When we talked to Disneyland Chef Duke Brown about the Lunar New Year food before we tried it, he highlighted this menu item and his personal connection to the dish. “So we took a little play on this, so we took the scallion tostada, or the scallion pancake, we crisped it up to make like a tostada base. So we have a little bit of kimchi aioli in there because Korean dishes have to have kimchi. Bulgogi, which is from my mother, and then a little scallion, a spicy scallion salad right on top, so it's a nice little fun crispy, sweet, you know, umami flavor ball.”
We would say this is an easy 10/10!
Strawberry Milk Tea Macaron
The Strawberry Milk Tea Macaron from Bamboo Blessings contains strawberry buttercream with a milk tea center. This is truly one of the best desserts I've ever had at Disneyland. I remember loving it last year, and this year, it was just as heavenly. I only wish that there was some fruit-flavored macaron like this year-round at Disney California Adventure.
What really stands out about this dessert is the clear, fresh strawberry flavor. It doesn't taste artificial at all! The dessert also has great variety in flavor and texture between its crunchy macaron shell, delicious buttercream, and milk tea center.
This dessert deserves a 10/10!
Brown Sugar Milk Tea

Another one of our favorites in our Disneyland Lunar New Year foods review is the Brown Sugar Milk Tea from Bamboo Blessings. This new drink contains Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Co. Ceylon Tea, hotteok-inspired brown sugar syrup, maple and butter pecan syrups, and oat milk garnished with banana milk-infused whipped cream.
There are so many interesting flavors in this drink! And the impressive part is you can really taste all of it. The banana milk-infused whipped cream is absolutely delicious. I do wish the tea flavor was slightly stronger, but overall this was really interesting and enjoyable. I also think it pairs really nicely with the Strawberry Milk Tea macaron.
I would give this milk tea a 7.5/10!
Chocolate Firecracker Dessert
The new Chocolate Firecracker from Lucky 8 Lantern contains light chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache filling, chocolate almond dacquoise, and popping candy featuring DOVE Dark Chocolate. This was a good dessert! It was a little hard to identify everything going on in it, and we mostly just tasted the mousse. I am a bit of a harsh critic when it comes to the festival desserts, so this is not necessarily something I would eagerly come back to, but I can easily see that many would enjoy this new offering.
It's also located at the festival marketplace that is closest to Carthay Circle, so it's in a convenient spot for pickup as you're walking through the park.
I would rate this dessert a 6.5/10.
Moo Shu Pork Burrito
The new Moo Shu Pork Burrito from Studio Catering Co. contained sautéed vegetables, egg fried rice, and crispy noodles with a side of plum sauce. The pork and rice are filled with flavor, and the offering is a decent size (note that this is not available with a Sip and Savor Pass coupon). We had been trying the Sip and Savor offerings throughout the day and not all of the items were a hit for us, so we wanted something more substantial. This dish definitely did the trick!
I do feel like this could have been a bowl or plate and didn't necessarily have to be a burrito, but it was still a pretty solid offering.
I would give this burrito a 6.5/10.
Phở Dip
The Phở Dip from Wrapped With Love features rice noodles, sliced beef, shaved jalapeños, pickled onions, and Phở broth. This was a pretty unique dish and a decent serving size. The meat was flavorful and the fillings of the sandwich worked well. It was a little hard to eat with all of the rice noodles, and the sauce didn't add much. I feel like this had a lot of potential, but I was tempted to just eat the meat on its own.
I would give this sandwich a 5.5/10. I feel like it was a good idea overall, but the format wasn't quite working.
Spicy Gochujang Chicken Tacos
Another new item we tried was the Spicy Gochujang Chicken Tacos with yuja citrus cabbage slaw from Red Dragon Spice Traders.
It's slightly spicy and the fillings work pretty well, but the tortilla was pretty tough when we had this. An interesting note about this is that the nice Cast Member who helped us with our order made sure to clarify with us that it's just one taco even though it's advertised as two. It was an important note to make, because as you can see, it's not a lot of food.
The dish was decently good, but it lacked any wow factor and was a disappointingly small serving. I would give this a 5/10.
Quesabirria Eggroll
Next up in our Disneyland Lunar New Year foods review is the Quesabirria Eggroll, a returning item from Lucky 8 Lantern served with guajillo pepper consomé. I wanted to give this item a chance again after trying it last year.
Unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations once again. The flavors aren't working together harmoniously, the cheese has a strange texture, and the exterior is not quite as crispy as I would have hoped. It feels like the concept in general is not working as well as it could. The meat is decently flavorful, but the dish as a whole does not pack much of a punch and the consomé also does not really add much unfortunately.
I personally would give this a 3/10, though I understand that this is a favorite for many others.
Mandarin Orange Cream Puff
This dessert from Wrapped With Love is a Mandarin Orange Cream Puff filled with citrus cream and Mandarin compote. I was actually very excited to try this (the presentation is very cute!) and was unfortunately very disappointed.
The flavor of the Mandarin compote is bitter and aggressive in the context of the overall dessert. The compote was watery and unappetizing (see the dessert cut open above), and the overall flavors were not harmonious. I also didn't taste any of the citrus cream.
I unfortunately have to give this a 1/10.
