Millennium Falcon Ride Getting New Mission Featuring Mandalorian and Grogu

With the partnership between Disney and Epic Games, Epic’s Unreal Engine will help to bring a new mission to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. During the new ride, guests will visit several iconic locations from the Star Wars universe. The new mission will debut alongside the new The Mandalorian and Grogu film on May 22, 2026.
Disney shared a little bit about the storyline of this upcoming new ride version. “In this new story arc, Hondo Ohnaka catches wind of a deal on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and pirates, setting the stage for a high-stakes chase across the galaxy. Guests will team up with Mando and Grogu to track them down and claim a bounty in a dynamic, galaxy-spanning adventure.”
The missions will take off from Batuu and go to Tatooine, and from there, the crew will get to choose the next destination between the three new locations. The engineer position, which is currently the least exciting role of the crew, will also get expanded gameplay, including the ability to communicate with Grogu throughout the mission. You can see all details about the changes coming in our separate article here.
New Soarin’ Across America

A new version of Soarin’ is debuting in summer 2026 in honor of our nation’s 250th anniversary. Disney shared that “Soarin’ Across America will take guests on a breathtaking journey, highlighting some of the country’s natural beauty and iconic cityscapes.”
Bernice Howes, Executive Creative Media Producer for Walt Disney Imagineering, describes the roadmap of the attraction as: “Contrasting shots of different American locales — scenic wonders, amazing cities, and the beauty of the coasts. The use of the physical landscape of the United States as a unifying element. Then, using continuous camera movement to smoothly transition between these scenes, linking them together to show the geographical ‘whole’ of the nation, from natural locations to large cities to national monuments that represent America the beautiful.”
You can see everything we know so far about the new Soarin’ Across America ride and the accompanying celebration here.
New Bluey Show

A new “Bluey” Show will be coming to Disneyland Park on “Bluey’s Best Day Ever!” on March 22, 2026, and will continue through the year. This new experience will transform Fantasyland Theatre into the grounds of Bluey’s school. Bluey and her sister Bingo will appear onstage, along with a group of comedic actors and musicians, who will bring to life music and games from the “Bluey” episodes.
Guests can dance along with the sisters, play games like Keepy Uppy, or explore a life-sized gnome village or fairy garden. There will also be special foods inspired by the animated series at Troubadour Tavern, and more. See all details about the new Bluey experiences at Disneyland and beyond in our separate article here.
New Walt Disney Show With Walt Animatronic at Main Street Opera House
A new show at Main Street Opera House features Imagineering’s first Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney. The show, “Walt Disney – A Magical Life,” debuted in May 2025 and will play in rotation with “Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln” after its initial run.
According to Disney, in the show, “the past, present and future are coming together, giving visitors the chance to imagine what it would be like to stop by Walt’s office.” See the reveal of the audio-animatronics figure here and our review of the new show here.
Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Celebration
Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Celebration began in May 2025. The celebration, continuing through the summer of 2026, will include limited-time entertainment, special decor, specialty foods and beverages, merchandise, and more.
The entertainment lineup includes a new World of Color show as well as returning fan-favorite entertainment like the Paint the Night parade and Wondrous Journeys. You can see everything you need to know about the Disneyland 70th Anniversary here!
Haunted Mansion Area Expansion
The Haunted Mansion was closed for several months as it underwent construction to introduce an expanded outdoor queue and a new retail shop adjacent to the attraction’s exit. The construction also improved the accessibility of the area and added an elevator exit from the attraction for guests with disabilities. The expansion of the queue builds on the lore of the beloved attraction, featuring new gardens inspired by Master Gracey, Madame Leota, and the one-eyed cat. The expanded Haunted Mansion queue, as well as the new Haunted Mansion retail shop, are now open.
DisneylandForward

In 2021, Disneyland announced plans for DisneylandForward, a multi-year resort project that would be the biggest expansion since the addition of Disney California Adventure and Downtown Disney. This expansion has many possibilities but could include new theme park experiences with new lands and attractions, developments to hotels, a new entertainment and shopping facility, or expansion of parking and transportation.
There has been tons of big progress on the DisneylandForward initiative. Most recently, Disneyland received the final vote approving the DisneylandForward initiative to re-zone and expand. Anaheim had approved specific zones for building and established certain restrictions back in 1993, and while Disney owned land in the area to develop, the limitations of this zoning agreement with the city had held back Disney from expanding its presence in Anaheim.
Disney has committed to spending at least $1.9 billion, and the investment for the initiative could reach $2.5 billion or more. It is important to note that this is not a specific expansion but just a rezoning effort. All of the plans mentioned here and seen in the concept artwork above are meant to help Disney rezone their land, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that this work will happen soon.
You can see more details about what has been shared for the DisneylandForward multi-year expansion in our guide!
Avatar Coming to Disneyland
A major new addition to the list of new rides at Disneyland is a new “Avatar experience” coming to Disney California Adventure.
While discussing the success of the recent Avatar: The Way of Water film, which was a sequel to the popular Avatar film, Iger mentioned that a new “Avatar experience” is coming to the Disneyland Resort. We now have more details on what this will entail.
The new Avatar area in Disney California Adventure will be based on Avatar: The Way of Water and upcoming Avatar films. The land will introduce a new Avatar attraction that will take guests on an adventure in search of Pandora’s natural wonders, and both the beauty and danger of the journey will be highlighted. The new attraction will highlight the visually stunning world of the Avatar films, taking guests all the way to the seas of Pandora.

New Multiverse Avengers Ride Coming to Avengers Campus
In an unexpected move, Disney announced at the most recent D23 that there will be two new rides coming to Avengers Campus. We already knew about the new E-ticket Avengers ride, but the second ride was a complete surprise! Construction for this expansion is currently underway.
A new E-ticket ride at Disney’s California Adventure centered around the Multiverse will be coming to Avengers Campus. In the attraction, called Avengers Infinity Defense, guests will embark on a “multi-world adventure” collaborating with the Avengers and their allies in a fight against King Thanos, a variant of the infamous antagonist who won in this reality. Disney shared new details about the premise of the Avengers ride: the technology the Avengers use to jump between worlds has gone missing, and King Thanos is using it to wreak havoc. Recruits will visit locations like Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City alongside heroes in this journey.
During Destination D23, additional details were shared about the ride vehicles for this new ride at Disneyland. Then, some more information about the attraction was shared on the Walt Disney Imagineering Instagram, with the caption mentioning that the attraction would feature “physical worlds” and brought to life “with a blend of large-scale built environments and immersive media.” Many assumed that the ride would be screen-based, so this adds another layer of excitement that it will have physical elements as well.
Avengers Campus has been gradually adding exciting new rides since its opening in 2021. This upcoming adventure through the Multiverse alongside our favorite heroes will surely make for an exciting ride, and there will be more details to come on this future attraction.
Surprise New Iron Man Ride Coming to Avengers Campus
While we expected news about the Avengers ride coming to Avengers Campus, Disney also shared news of a surprise Iron Man ride coming to the land. Stark Flight Lab will take guests on a journey in two-person pods as they deploy to a test station and a robot arm whirls their pod around in simulated flight. Robert Downey Jr. is reprising his role for the attraction.
New Coco Ride Coming to Disney California Adventure
Disney announced the first-ever Coco ride will be coming to Disney California Adventure! On the ride, you’ll join Miguel on a trip to the Land of the Dead. For the ride, Imagineering is drawing inspiration from classics like Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, and it will feature the latest Audio-Animatronics technology. See everything you need to know about the new Coco ride coming to Disneyland here! Work begins on the attraction in 2026.
Recently Opened New Rides and Experiences at Disneyland
Below, we will share some of the new rides and experiences that recently opened at Disneyland in the last couple of years.
New Rides at Disneyland – Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Splash Mountain Retheme
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is the new version of the Splash Mountain at Disneyland that recently opened.
This new ride theme entirely transforms the attraction inspired by the film “Princess and the Frog.” The story of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure picks up after the film’s ending, and guests join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance. The queue introduces guests to the behind the scenes of Tiana’s preparations for the Mardi Gras celebration, and the ride follows Tiana and Louis as they attempt to find musical critters to play at the party.
You can read more about the logistics of the Splash Mountain retheme here and details on the new attraction in our guide to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
When Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened, Critter Country was renamed to Bayou Country. Bayou Country features two new retail shops inspired by Princess and the Frog and the newly reimagined Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree.
New Scenes Added to Star Tours – The Adventures Continue!
As part of the Season of the Force celebration at Disneyland, new Star Tours – The Adventures Continue scenes debuted. It was previously announced that the fan-favorite Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano, the titular character of the show Ahsoka on Disney+, would become a part of Star Tours. The new Star Tours scenes feature Ahsoka, Andor, and the Mandalorian.
NEW Rides at Disneyland- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is one of the recently opened new rides at Disneyland. This new attraction is part of the larger Toontown refurbishment which is a land wide update of the nostalgic area in the parks. The attraction is the same as the one in Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World but the queue experience and preshow are unique to Disneyland.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is inside El CapiTOON Theater and the queue is a walk through museum style exhibit created by Minnie Mouse and the Toontown Hysterical Society celebrating the history of Mickey Mouse. Guests will see the history of all the Mickey Mouse cartoons showcased through costumes and props from the toon world. There are tons of hidden Easter eggs for Disney fans in here that it makes the queue experience one of the best in the parks.
New San Fransokyo Square
Pacific Wharf has been reimagined into San Fransokyo Square, the “vibrant, multicultural district” that melds San Francisco and Tokyo together, inspired by the Big Hero 6 movie. Though San Fransokyo Square will not have any new rides, it features a redesigned dining area, a character meet-and-greet, and a vibrant new aesthetic.
The San Fransokyo Gate Bridge painted in a dazzling orange vermillion connects San Fransokyo Square to the Paradise Gardens Park obelisk.
Guests also have the opportunity to meet Baymax at a meet-and-greet area located at the south end of San Fransokyo Square! Make sure to stop by and give this beloved character a hug. You can treat yourself to familiar and new dining locations, including new Asian-inspired foods and the mainstay soup and bread bowls. See our full guide to new foods coming to the Big Hero 6 San Fransokyo Square area for more details!

Goofy and Donald Duck’s houses have both received large refurbishments which include more open space to play, a splash pad, and more. This retheme also includes a brand new tree that children can play on along with an interactive fountain.
