If you’ve ever wanted to visit Shanghai Disneyland but don’t know how much it costs to visit, this is your complete guide to Shanghai Disneyland ticket prices.
Shanghai Disneyland is the most recent international theme park Disney built. Open since 2016, Shanghai Disneyland was Disney’s promise to create an experience that is “authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese.” And with its most recent Zootopia land expansion, Shanghai Disneyland now has more to offer guests visiting the theme park!
Of course, being able to experience Disney’s latest international theme park comes at a price. However, despite the $5.5 billion it cost to build, you’d be surprised at how much cheaper it is to visit Shanghai Disneyland compared to Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World!
While you still have to pay for an international flight, hotel lodging, and a few extras, Shanghai Disneyland ticket prices pack much more value compared to Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World tickets. And with that money savings, you get to explore a very different style of theme park that still has the essence of Disney.
Read on for a full breakdown of Shanghai Disneyland ticket prices, including ticket types, annual pass prices, vacation packages, and more.

Are Shanghai Disneyland Tickets More Expensive at the Gate?
Shanghai Disneyland tickets are not more expensive at the gate.
However, due to the popularity of the park and the need for park reservations, there is a chance that Shanghai Disneyland tickets might not be available if you choose to purchase them on the day of your visit. The Shanghai Disneyland reservation system requires guests to both have a park reservation and a valid ticket for the same date for each day their visit is planned.
Because you need tickets in order to make a park reservation, buying tickets at the gate can be risky due to not being able to access the park if it doesn't have space.
Shanghai Disneyland Ticket Bundles and Packages

Let’s go over each of these offerings.
One-Day Dated Ticket + Select Add Ons

Disney Dream Day Package
This package bundles a one-day dated ticket and your selection of Disney Premier Access Sets (which is similar to purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane).
With several package options to choose from, prices will vary. This way, you have no need to purchase Disney Premier Access Sets separately from your theme park ticket purchase.
Disney Dream Day Package + Concierge Services

Early Bird Tickets
Shanghai Disneyland offers 3 types of early bird tickets that allow you to save money on your vacation.
With these options, prices vary according to the date-based pricing system. However, with these ticket types, you must book your one-day or two-day ticket at least 10 days in advance of your visit to take advantage of the discount.
Let’s go over each early bird ticket type:
- Early Bird Combo: This is a one-day ticket that must be purchased at least 10 days in advance of your visit
- Early Bird Two-Day Dated Ticket: This is a two-day ticket that must be purchased at least 10 days in advance of your visit and must be used on 2 consecutive days

Disney Premier Tour (4,000 CNY/ 552.06 USD for a minimum of 3 guests)
This ticket type allows you to tailor your Shanghai Disneyland experience to your liking.
Similar to the VIP Tours at Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World, the Disney Premier Tour takes you on a guided tour, telling you stories about everything you see in the Shanghai Disneyland Resort. This ticket type also includes quick admission, exclusive attraction access, and more. Note that a separate admission ticket is required for the Disney Premier Tour.
This is arguably the ultimate experience when visiting Shanghai Disneyland.
‘ILLUMINATE! A Nighttime Celebration’ Imagination Terrace (249 CNY/ 34.37 USD)
This is a separate ticket to view Shanghai Disneyland’s nighttime show.
With this ticket, you get to watch ILLUMINATE! A Nighttime Celebration from an exclusive viewing terrace in Disneytown, Shanghai Disneyland’s version of Disney Springs in Walt Disney World.
Top 6 Things to Know Before Buying Shanghai Disneyland Tickets
There are 6 official ways to purchase Shanghai Disneyland tickets:
- The Shanghai Disney Resort Official Website
- The Shanghai Disney Resort App
- The Shanghai Disney Resort Reservation Center: To learn more, call 400-180-0000 or +86-21-3158-0000
- The Shanghai Disney Resort Official Jingdong Flagship Store
- The Shanghai Disney Resort Official Fliggy Store
Acceptable forms of payment include cash and certain credit cards: When purchasing tickets in person, using cash will be your best payment option. However, if purchasing online, Shanghai Disneyland does accept Visa and MasterCard credit cards. Be aware that foreign transaction fees may apply. When you’re physically inside the theme park or traveling around China, having Chinese Yuan on hand is the most convenient way of paying for everything.
Theme park tickets use a date-based pricing system: Similar to Walt Disney World’s date-based pricing system, Shanghai Disneyland ticket prices vary according to the date you want to visit. Ticket prices tend to be higher on days that are expected to be more crowded, such as 3-day weekends or holidays. On the other hand, ticket prices tend to be lower on days that are expected to be less crowded. Note that this also means that advanced reservations are required and are made upon the time you purchase your ticket.
All guests visiting Shanghai Disneyland must have an original physical copy of their ID: Along with your ticket confirmation, you must have a copy of your ID with you to enter the theme park. For guests traveling to Shanghai Disneyland from the United States, this means you must bring your U.S. passport that meet’s the China’s passport requirements we discussed above.
Ticket Prices vary slightly depending on your age: Shanghai Disneyland offers 2 ticket prices depending on your age or height group. If you’re aged 3 to 11 years old or aged 60 years and bove, between 1 meter/3.3 feet and 1.4 meter/4.6 feet tall, or have a disability with a disability certificate, you qualify for 25% off standard priced tickets. If you don’t belong to any of these categories, you qualify for a standard priced ticket.
The Shanghai Disney Resort Official App is a Must-Download: Similar to the Disneyland Mobile app and the My Disney Experience Mobile App for Walt Disney World, the Shanghai Disney Resort Official App allows you to purchase and reserve your theme park tickets, book hotel reservations, purchase Disney Premier Access, view attraction wait-times, make vacation plans, and more. In fact, the mobile app’s interface is similar to the California and Florida Disney app equivalents, making it very user friendly!
Don't Forget About Additional Costs to Consider When Visiting Shanghai Disneyland
While Shanghai Disneyland ticket prices are a big part of your vacation expenses, there are other day-to-day costs to consider when visiting Shanghai Disneyland.
Let's go over these other costs so you can budget accordingly for your next trip to Shanghai Disneyland.
Chinese Visa and U.S. Passport
While plane tickets fluctuate throughout the year, the 2 constants are the cost of a Chinese visa and the cost of a passport that meet’s China’s requirements.
China requires that your passport must:
- Have at least 2 plank pages
- Not be within 6 months of expiration
Here’s a breakdown of the costs associated with getting to Shanghai:
- Chinese visa: $140 application fee + $10 for new passport-sized photos
- U.S. Passport Book: $130 application fee + $35 acceptance fee
Disney Premier Access Gives You Priority Access to Attractions
Similar to the Genie Plus Service and Individual Lightning Lanes at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World, purchasing Disney Premier Access gives you priority access to attractions and reserved viewing areas for shows during designated return time windows. You can book Disney Premier Access through the Shanghai Disney Resort Official App
Early Park Entry Pass and Priority Entrance
Early Park Entry Pass is another add-on to your theme park ticket that allows you to enter Shanghai Disneyland up to 1 hour prior to the published park opening time. Priority Entrance is a separate benefit specific to guests staying at a Shanghai Disneyland Resort hotel. With this benefit, guests can enter Shanghai Disneyland through a separate entrance from the park’s main entrance at earlier time than non-resort hotel guests.
Parking
If you plan to drive around Shanghai and are not staying at the Shanghai Disneyland Resort hotels, there are fees associated with parking at Shanghai Disneyland.
Guests driving can park their car at the Disney Car and Coach Park at Disneytown Parking Lot. Here is a breakdown of parking fees:
Private Car
- Cars entering the parking lot between 7:00am and 11:30am: 100 CNY/14.09 USD per day
- Cars entering the parking lot between 11:30am and 7:00pm: 50 CNY/7.04 USD per day
- Cars entering the parking loat after 7:00pm: 10 CNY/1.41 USD per day
Coach
- 120 CNY/16.91 USD per day
Dining
Dining prices at Shanghai Disneyland are comparable to those at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World, but it's important to know that the food quality, standout service, and experience more than make up for the price.
Expect one counter-service restaurant meal to cost around 200 CNY/ 28.18USD and one sit-down restaurant meal to cost around 90 CNY/12.68 USD. Additionally, snacks around the theme park cost around 40 CNY/ 5.64USD.
Hotels
There are 2 Disney-owned hotels at Shanghai Disneyland Resort: Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel.
These hotels come at a higher price point per night. However, there are a variety of hotels close by to Shanghai Disneyland, including both cheap and luxury options.
Stroller Rental
Strollers cost 90 CNY/12.68 USD per day.
You can find strollers to rent just inside the turnstiles near the Main Entrance of the theme park.
Souvenirs
Souvenirs can be a sneaky expense that adds up over your vacation days at Shanghai Disneyland.
There are several strategies to combat overspending at Shanghai Disneyland. These include establishing a souvenir budget for the parks, purchasing souvenirs only on the last day of your vacation, or even purchasing souvenirs ahead of time at a cheaper price.
Additionally, make sure to travel with any necessities ahead of time so you don't need to make any unexpected purchases.
How to Get to Shanghai Disneyland
The 5 ways guests can travel to Shanghai Disneyland make it extremely easy to visit this Disney park from anywhere in the greater Shanghai area.
If you’re staying at one of the Shanghai Disneyland Resort hotels, you can take the complimentary hotel shuttle bus to the theme park.
Other ways include:
- Shanghai Metro: Metro Line 11 operates 7 days/week from early morning to late night and provides convenient and fast access to the Terminal Station Disney Resort at Shanghai Disneyland
- Car or Coach: If traveling by car or coach, guests can drive into the Shanghai Disneyland Resort through West Entry, East Entry, or south Entry before following the signs to an appropriate parking lot. Note that there is a flat fee upon entry to the Disney Car & Coach Park. However, Shanghai Disneyland Resort hotel guests receive complimentary parking in hotel parking lots.
- Local Bus: Guests can take Pudong Bus Line 50, 51, or 52 to Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone West Transport Hub before taking a quick stroll to Shanghai Disneyland.
- Taxi: Guests looking to travel with more privacy, comfort, and flexibility can take a taxi to the transit hub in Shanghai Disneyland Resort. All pick-up and drop-offs are allowed at the West Public Transportation Hub.
These transportation options make it easy to visit Shanghai Disneyland even if you’re staying outside of the Disney resort area.
Must-Do Attractions at Shanghai Disneyland
With 7 themed lands (including the newly opened Zootopia land), Shanghai Disneyland has so much to offer guests in terms of attractions.
Here are some favorites and must-dos when visiting:
- Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure: Arguably the most popular reason to visit Shanghai Disneyland, this boat ride will blow you away with its storytelling and immersiveness. Some even say that this ride is a mix of what Disney and Universal Studios do best, delivering on every level as the pinnacle of modern-day Imagineering.
- Peter Pan’s Flight: Very similar to the classic versions seen in California and Florida, Shanghai Disneyland’s version takes advantage of more recent technology to refresh the ride experience. This is certainly a must-do when visiting.
- TRON Lightcycle Power Run: Many know of this attraction at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, but the one in Shanghai Disneyland is the original and still is a must-do!
- Camp Discovery – Challenge Trails: While this rope challenge course can be somewhat physically demanding, it’s also one of the most exhilarating and satisfying attractions at any theme park. It offers a real sense of adventure and wonderful views of Adventure Isle. Be aware though that wait times for this attraction can get long because of its low capacity and its safety precautions.
- Soaring Over the Horizon: Other than their respective endings, each of the ride experiences for the Soarin’ rides at all the Disney parks are the same. However, what makes each ride special is their theming, show building, and queue. With its queue designed to be a cavernous celestial observatory for a tribe called The Arbori, Soaring Over the Horizon still keeps the spirit of flight, but with a condor-like bird that gives guests the ability to fly. Be aware though that Soaring Over the Horizon is a very popular attraction at Shanghai Disneyland, with wait times skyrocketing frequently.
Top Parades and Shows at Shanghai Disneyland
There is 1 parade, 1 nighttime show, and 3 indoor shows at Shanghai Disneyland.
Let’s cover what you should be plan to watch:
- Mickey’s Storybook Express: The daily parade at Shanghai Disneyland gets very crowded, so be prepared to find a viewing spot early. The parade starts between Toy Story Land and Tomorrowland before traveling around Gardens of Imagination and past Mickey Avenue and finishing between Treasure Cove and Fantasyland.
- ILLUMINATE! A Nighttime Celebration: Shanghai Disneyland’s nighttime show features fireworks, fountains, and projections on the Enchanted Storybook Castle. Just like Mickey’s Storybook Express, be prepared to find a viewing spot early as it also gets very crowded close to showtime.
- Tarzan: Call of the Jungle: This popular musical stage show is a re-telling of the classic story everyone loves – and features Phil Collins’ iconic music! Featuring powerful staging and visual effects as well as breathtaking acrobatic stunts, this is certainly a must-see for guests.
- Eye of the Storm: Captain Jack’s Stunt Spectacular: This stage show follows Captain Jack Sparrow as he seeks revenge after learning that an actor is portraying him on stage. While the show is in Mandarin, it’s not difficult to follow the storyline through its visuals. What makes this a must-do show however is its “high-flying” ending.
- Frozen: A Sing-Along Celebration: Similar to the Frozen Sing-Along at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Royal Historians of Arendelle weave the songs of Frozen together with a retelling of Frozen. While there are slight differences than the U.S. version, this show is still good for the kiddos to see!
There are Some Notable Differences Between Shanghai Disneyland and the US Disney Parks
There’s technically no train at Shanghai Disneyland.
One of the major differences between Shanghai Disneyland and other Disney theme parks is that Shanghai Disneyland doesn’t have a railroad. In fact, it doesn’t have a Main Street, U.S.A. or Frontierland either. The reason for all this is that Disney wanted to appeal to the Chinese population – having different lands and attractions was a better way to do so.
However, when you enter the theme park, you still pass through the customary tunnel – just without a train passing overhead.
How Many Days Should my Shanghai Disneyland Resort Trip be?
With only 1 Disney theme park in Shanghai, you would think that 1 day is doable at Shanghai Disneyland, right?
Well, yes and no. Unlike the California and Florida Disney parks, Shanghai Disneyland only has 1 theme park. This makes 1 day much more doable for guests.
However, if you’re looking to experience every ride and attraction Shanghai Disneyland has to offer without feeling pushed for time, we recommend planning for 2 days at the theme park. Not only does it allow you to see all the shows, it also allows you to experience multiple dining options and lesser-known attractions.
With strategic planning, 2 days at Shanghai Disneyland is more than doable.
Top Cheap Shanghai Disneyland Tickets Recommendation
While Shanghai Disneyland tickets are already sold at a very affordable price compared to tickets to enter Disneyland Park or Walt Disney World, there are a few options out there that could save you some money.
Let’s go over the options you have when trying to find discounted Shanghai Disneyland tickets.
Shanghai Disneyland Resort Hotel and Theme Park Ticket Bundles
While there are no discounts on theme park tickets when booking a reservation for any of the two Shanghai Disneyland Resort hotels, there is one important benefit if you choose to stay on Disney property.
When staying on Disney property, you and your party are guaranteed theme park tickets for the days of your hotel stay. This comes in handy especially on days that are expected to sell out. This not only saves you from needing to purchase theme park tickets beforehand, it also saves you the stress and anxiety of not knowing whether or not theme park tickets will still be available when you travel.
Besides, staying on Disney property during your vacation truly enhances your magical experience.
Shanghai Disneyland Annual Passes
Shanghai Disneyland offers 3 tiers of annual passes so that you can enjoy park experiences and events in a full year of magic.
Each tier of annual pass varies in price according to their benefits. Similar to annual passes at Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Hollywood, or Universal Orlando, the more expensive the tier of annual pass, the more benefits you receive. Also similar to the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World annual passes, you must choose a visit date from the available reservation days and make a reservation before visiting the theme park. Additionally, all Shanghai Disneyland annual passes are valid for 365 days starting 15 days after the date of purchase.
Here are some of the benefits all 3 tiers of annual passes share:
- Shopping and dining benefits in Disneytown tenants
- Birthday hotel benefit
- Occasional extra discounts and benefits
Let’s briefly go over the 3 tiers of Shanghai Disneyland annual passes:
- Pearl Annual Pass (1,399 CNY/193.14 USD): The lowest tier annual pass offers a minimum of 200 reservation days, “price-break” discounts on select dining at the theme park, 2 resort hotels, and select Shanghai Disney Resort stores
- Sapphire Annual Pass (2,759 CNY/380 USD): The mid-tier annual pass offers a minimum of 350 reservation days, 20% off select dining at the theme park, 2 resort hotels, and select Shanghai Disney Resort stores as well as additional dining benefits at select restaurants
- Diamond Annual Pass (4,399 CNY/607.30 USD): The highest tier annual pass offers 365 days of park access, 20% off select dining at the theme park, 2 resort hotels, select Shanghai Disney Resort stores, and Shanghai Disney Resort parking, 12 Early Park Entry Passes per year, 4 free stroller services per year, priority access to exclusive events, as well as additional dining benefits at select restaurants
Third Party Websites
When purchasing tickets to the Disney theme parks in Asia, there are 2 reputable places you can purchase from other than directly through Shanghai Disneyland.
Klook is a popular Asian website that sells Shanghai Disneyland tickets for a small discount. Note that you need a passport number to attach your tickets to and that you can only purchase 5 tickets per passport. Once purchased, Klook will email you your tickets, which you can either print or use a digital copy to enter the theme park.
Trip.com is another reputable provider of travel services in China. Many guests use Trip.com to arrange their hotel stays and travel transportation when exploring in and around China.
Can I Use my Disney Vacation Club Membership for Discounts on Tickets?
While a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) membership can be used in the United States Disney resorts and select international Disney resorts, it cannot be used at Shanghai Disneyland Resort.
With a DVC membership, you can use DVC points to reserve stays at Disney Collection resorts such as the resorts at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and Tokyo Disneyland Resort. Despite the unfavorable conversion rate with DVC points when reserving hotels outside of the United States, this can potentially be a convenient way of reserving an international Disney resort stay. Unfortunately, with Shanghai Disneyland Resort still being relatively new compared to the other Disney Resorts around the world, there hasn’t been any agreement on rooms negotiated between DVC and the Shanghai Disneyland Resort.
This could change in the near future, however, as negotiations may lead to an agreement between DVC and the Shanghai Disneyland Resort.
Costco Shanghai Disneyland Tickets
Costco is a popular option for guests looking to book a Disney vacation, but not a possible option if you’re looking to purchase Shanghai Disneyland tickets alone.
When booking through Costco, you can find vacation packages for Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa and the DVC Villas, Disneyland Resort, and Walt Disney Resort. You can even find select Adventures by Disney (ABD) vacation packages, including a vacation package that travels to China. The current China ABD vacation package includes a visit to Hong Kong Disneyland and Shanghai Disneyland.
While not an option for purchasing Shanghai Disneyland tickets alone, an ABD vacation package to China can be a great option for you to travel to China without having to do any of the planning.
AAA Shanghai Disneyland Tickets
Unlike the discounts offered by AAA for Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World, Universal Hollywood, and Universal Orlando tickets, AAA offers something else related to Shanghai Disneyland.
Through AAA’s Trip Canvas travel website, you’re able to purchase Shanghai Disneyland ticket bundles and reserve a Shanghai Disney tour. Trip Canvas is a travel agency that offers information and recommendations on booking your Shanghai Disneyland vacation, including preplanned trips, cruises, and vacation tours. They also have a network of AAA travel agents to assist you in your planning.
While not specifically offering Shanghai Disneyland ticket discounts, Trip Canvas through AAA does offer ticket bundles and Shanghai Disney tours.
Beware of Shanghai Disneyland Tickets That are too Cheap!
With Shanghai Disneyland ticket prices already being much cheaper than prices in the U.S. Disney theme parks, it’s certainly not worth your time falling for a scam just for a cheaper ticket option.
Here are 3 tips to help you avoid potential scams on Shanghai Disneyland tickets:
- If you’re on a different website from what we mentioned above, it’s likely an unofficial website that you should avoid
- If the Shanghai Disneyland ticket prices on a particular website seem too good to be true, it often is
- If you come across a seller that’s not on the list of Shanghai Disney Resort travel partners on the Shanghai Disneyland website, it is a potential scam
So, there you have it. Everything you need to know about purchasing Shanghai Disneyland tickets.
What are you waiting for? It’s time to visit!

One Disneyland ticket can cost between 475 CNY/65.56 USD and 799 CNY/110.27 USD to go to Shanghai Disneyland. These prices vary according to how busy Hong Kong Disneyland is expected to be on certain dates.
With several must-do attractions, incredible theming, and an entire new land themed after Zootopia, Shanghai Disney is surely worth it to visit. Especially considering how much cheaper it is to enter Shanghai Disneyland versus any of the Disney parks in the United States, you get a lot of value for your money at Shanghai Disney.
It cost $5.5 billion to build Shanghai Disneyland, Disney’s youngest theme park. However, despite the hefty price it took to build the theme park, tickets to enter Shanghai Disneyland remain some of the cheapest of any Disney theme park tickets.
