We Tried These Four New Disneyland Food Items—See Our Thoughts!

While Disneyland often releases food guides for seasonal events during the year like the California Food and Wine Festival, Halloween celebration, and the Festival of Holidays, they don't always share food guides for big menu updates. New food items are added to menus throughout the year as holiday options are rotated out and the culinary team improves offerings.

Disneyland quietly released dozens of new menu items recently, and we tried a few of them to share our thoughts with you! You can spot these menu items by looking on the mobile order screens for the various restaurants to see what has been added to each location. In certain cases they will call it out.

We tried some foods and drinks from Smokejumpers Grill, Galactic Grill, The Golden Horseshoe, and Hungry Bear Restaurant. Keep reading for more details and our review of these new Disneyland foods!

Review—Raspberry Cheesecake Shake (Smokejumpers Grill)

From Smokejumpers Grill in Grizzly Peak, we tried the new Raspberry Cheesecake Shake. This shake has chunks of cheesecake in it and a couple of fresh raspberries, and it comes with whipped cream on top. We've always enjoyed the shakes from here, and this was no exception.

During that same meal we also enjoyed some other items that were not new, including the Grilled Chicken Salad (with chicken breast, mixed lettuce, black beans, corn, peppers, cotija cheese, spiced pumpkin seeds with a cilantro lime dressing) and the Chipotle BBQ Bacon Double Cheeseburger. See the salad below:

The Chipotle BBQ Bacon Double Cheeseburger has two Angus beef patties, provolone, bacon, lettuce, pickles, onion rings, and chipotle BBQ sauce. See a picture of the burger below:

This is an easy mobile order option at Disney California Adventure that really delivers! Smokejumpers Grill also recently added new breakfast offerings for guests to enjoy.

Review—Galaxy Parfait (Galactic Grill)

We also tried the new Galaxy Parfait from Galactic Grill, featuring layers of chocolate cake, raspberry jam, and blue-colored cheesecake, topped with a purple glaze, edible silver stars, and a round chocolate shell. One thing that really stands out about this new treat is how visually appealing it is with its detail and beautiful colors!

We really enjoyed this treat and thought the flavors blended together very well! The dessert is not overly sweet, and it's also easily shareable with other members of your party. Warning—the parfait will dye your mouth blue!

Review—Lemon Pepper Chicken Tenders (The Golden Horseshoe)

Another one of the new Disneyland foods we tried was the Lemon Pepper Chicken Tenders from The Golden Horseshoe, which are chicken tenders with lemon pepper seasoning, served with Cuties mandarin orange or french fries.

These chicken tenders were very flavorful with the perfect hint of lemon. They tasted more like a refreshing version of the food rather than a heavy chicken strip order. We found there was no need for a sauce with the tenders, as the flavoring was great by itself!

Review—Cranberry Lemonade (Hungry Bear Restaurant)

The last of the new Disneyland foods we tried was the new Cranberry Lemonade from Hungry Bear Restaurant, which is served with lemon juice popping spheres.

This is a refreshing drink that is perfect for a warmer day! The lemonade is also not overly sweet. One downside is that it isn't served with a boba-sized straw, so it's difficult to eat the lemon juice-popping spheres.

  1. When will Disney get over their spicy kick? As someone who has problems with spicy anything (It will leave me in pain for hours) I have to be so careful where I eat at Disneyland. Of course I can always have a corndog but sometimes I like other food too. You can always add more spice to something, but you can’t take it out. I can’t even eat any of the meats at Bengal Barbecue because the sauces are too spicy even the mild one. I know I tried and my hubby was glad to finish mine.

  2. As a pescatarian I find the non Meat options at Disneyland keep deteriorating. In the past we had Chicken of the Sea Tuna Sandwiches, Mexican Camarones, Crab Cakes at Blue Bayou and Harbor Galley with many tasty Pescatarian dishes and Jo Tortilla with ceviche and seafood enchiladas and Yamabuki with Sushi. The current trend seems to be focused on Meat and Fried or Sweet Foods.
