Toadstool Cafe is the restaurant in Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood. This restaurant is run by the infamous Chef Toad whom many will recognize from the Mario franchise. The exterior of the restaurant is a giant red-capped mushroom and the inside is filled with mushroom decor, green pipes plus full visual screens of Chef Toad and the Toad workers! This restaurant has been extremely popular, along with the entirety of Super Nintendo World, and guests may need to secure a reservation at Toadstool Cafe once they enter the land as walk-ups are not allowed. These reservations go quickly so if you want to eat at Toadstool Cafe, you need to prioritize grabbing one early in your day at Universal Studios Hollywood.
How to Get Toadstool Cafe Reservations
This location has been very popular since the land opened so Universal Studios Hollywood has been requiring guests to join a walk-up list at the restaurant. Currently, there are no walk-ins allowed for Toadstool Cafe and you must get a reservation before you expect to dine there.
You can only get a reservation at Toadstool Cafe by going to the restaurant when you arrive at Universal. You cannot make reservations in advance before your trip, they can only be made in person at the restaurant.
You simply walk up, scan the QR code by the entrance, and pick your time to return. These times sell out very quickly so do this as soon as you enter the land! Screenshot your confirmation as you will need to show this when you return to the team member outside the restaurant to get in. These reservations will go fast for the day so go to the restaurant early to make sure you get in.

Toadstool Cafe Review
Toadstool Cafe is located inside Toad House and features dishes created by Chef Toad. The dining room includes scenery of the Mushroom Kingdom through the windows as you dine. There are so many small touches around this entire restaurant devoted to Super Mario fans and help immerse you in Super Nintendo World.
As you enter the line to the restaurant you will see Toads working in the kitchen on little window screens in the waiting area.
The wall behind the registers features plenty of icons from the game including all the Power Up mushrooms and items Mario uses.

One great aspect of dining at Toadstool Cafe is the immersive experience in the dining area. All the windows of where you eat showcase different scenes of the Mushroom Kingdom. But at one point during your meal, Bowser's ship will come through the Kingdom and the lights will darken. You will see the ship move around the windows in the restaurant while the Toads panic. This was a fun touch and one the kids in the restaurant loved. And okay, I loved it too.
Toadstool Cafe Food Review
Our experience at Toadstool Cafe was pretty seamless making for a very positive review. I entered Super Nintendo World early in the morning, before 10AM, and the first thing I did was secure our reservation at the restaurant. Times go quickly for Toadstool Cafe and even though it was barely 10AM, nearly all the return times were gone for the day. I was able to get a reservation for dinning at 6:30PM which ended up working out perfectly. Crowds die down in Super Nintendo World around this time of day so this is a great choice for dinner.
We ordered the Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots for an appetizer and the little garlic knots were shaped like mushrooms which was a cute touch. Everything about this restaurant is themed so perfectly! These were good, you can't go wrong with any kind of garlic knots.
My son had the Mario Burger (Bacon, Mushroom & Cheese) and he loved the themed Mario bun and little cap. He loved it, he thought it was perfect and my son is a very, very picky eater. He's not always a fan of theme park burgers but he rated this one a step above the most.
As a vegetarian, I was happy to see so many meatless options! I had the Tomato Soup in Super Mushroom Bowl. The tomato soup has truffle oil in it so if you're not a fan of mushrooms then this would be a skip. I don't mind mushrooms but the truffle oil was pretty strong for me. The mushroom bowl is a souvenier you can keep though so which was a nice touch.
We tried to order the Bean Pole Cake but it was sold out so we got the ? Block Tiramisu for dessert. Half the fun for the desserts is the theming! This was a cute theme with the ? Block surrounding the tiramisu which were little flavored cookies. The dessert was fairly average as far as theme park desserts go but the theming is spot on.
Overall, we loved our experience at Toadstool Cafe making this review an easy one to write. I highly recommend this experience for the theming and immersion alone. But the food itself was great and I appreciated the variety of vegetarian options.
