Moana 2 Coming to Theaters This Year! See Teaser Trailer, Details, Artwork

Disney has shared that a previously announced Moana Disney+ series will now instead be released as a theatrical film.

The first Moana movie, which was a tremendous success for Disney, followed the story of Moana as she embarks on a mission to save her people, teaming up with the demigod Maui and embracing her identity along the way.

“Moana remains an incredibly popular franchise,” said Iger, “and we can’t wait to give you more of Moana and Maui when ‘Moana 2’ comes to theaters this November.” After the success of the first Moana movie (which you can read about in our article on Disney dominating the list of most streamed movies), this move to turn the series into a Moana feature makes sense. New Moana 2 Movie Details

According to Walt Disney Animation Studios, the animated Moana 2 musical “takes audiences on an expansive new voyage with Moana, Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.”

The movie is directed by Dave Derrick Jr. with music by Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa’i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.

The Moana 2 movie will be coming to theaters this year on November 27, 2024. You can see a first look at the new movie below:

While this new Moana 2 movie will be debuting this year, the live-action Moana movie is still set to release in 2025.
