Disneyland Finally Opens Permanent Location for Fan Favorite Restaurant After Years in Limbo

One of Disneyland Resort‘s most popular restaurants has been playing musical chairs in various temporary locations for nearly a decade. The changes all stemmed from a canceled hotel and a sweeping overhaul to Downtown Disney, the resort’s shopping and dining district outside of the theme parks. For fans of this restaurant, a long-awaited day has arrived.

A guest-favorite Downtown Disney restaurant finally opened its permanent new location after years in limbo. We have photos inside the new spot, what’s on the menu, and what’s still to come for this restaurant’s exciting future. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including Haunted Mansion added to Disneyland’s refurbishment calendar and 19 new rides coming to Disney theme parks as part of huge expansions.

New Earl of Sandwich Permanent Location Finally Opens

The new permanent location for Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney in Disneyland Resort is finally open! The quick-service restaurant, known for “the world’s greatest hot sandwich,” opened the doors of its brand-new spot on June 26, 2026, after a long saga of multiple temporary locations.

The new permanent home for Earl of Sandwich is located near the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage and lawn area, on the west side of Downtown Disney. This is the side closest to the Disneyland Resort hotels rather than the theme parks.

All of Earl of Sandwich’s signature hot sandwiches are on the menu at the new location, including The Earl’s Club (turkey, bacon, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, and sandwich sauce), The Original 1762 (roasted beef, cheddar, and horseradish sauce), and my personal favorite, Holiday Turkey (turkey, cornbread stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, and mayonnaise), among several other selections.

Beyond hot sandwiches, Earl of Sandwich also serves deli sandwiches, salads, and wraps.

Here’s a look at the interior of the new space.

All menu items are $15 and under, making Earl of Sandwich an excellent choice for an inexpensive meal. The new location is open daily from 8 AM to 11 PM.

Downtown Disney’s original Earl of Sandwich location on the far west end of Downtown Disney shuttered in 2018. This area is now home to Din Tai Fung and an open courtyard.

Following its vacating of that spot, Earl of Sandwich replaced La Brea Bakery closer to the Disneyland Esplanade temporarily from 2023 to 2025. A pop-up Earl of Sandwich location near Star Wars Trading Post also opened in 2024. Now that the permanent location is open, the pop-up is closed. This is what we mean when we say Earl of Sandwich has been in limbo for years.

When all is said and done, the new location isn’t far from the original spot, but the just-opened building offers something its predecessors never did.

The new Earl of Sandwich is a two-story building. The first floor is a traditional Earl of Sandwich quick service restaurant.

Upstairs is Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby, a new concept from the creators of Earl of Sandwich and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. The 1960s-themed British gastropub is themed after Carnaby Street in London.

Although Earl of Sandwich is open for business downstairs,  Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby is not quite ready. An opening date has not been announced.

Changes Across Downtown Disney

Many changes are happening at Downtown Disney as longtime tenants move out and others set up shop.

Happy Ice just opened a new location at Downtown Disney, featuring all-natural frozen treats.

Jamba, which has operated in Downtown Disney for 23 years, will permanently close on July 6, 2026. Its final day open will be July 5.

Jamba will be replaced by Bopo Go!, a spinoff concept of Eric Wang and Philip Wang’s Bopomofo Café, a convenience store in Asia known for its commitment to no artificial ingredients.

Still to come at Downtown Disney are the new Big Boi Lumpia Co., Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon, and Pearl’s Roadside BBQ.

In the long term, Porto’s Bakery & Café is coming to a massive new building under construction on the piece of land formerly home to La Brea Bakery and the short-term Earl of Sandwich location.
