Din Tai Fung at Disneyland–OPENING DATE, Details, Review of Other Location!

Din Tai Fung, the world-famous Chinese restaurant that originated in Tawain, will soon be coming to the Disneyland Resort as part of a larger reimagining of Downtown Disney introducing new dining, entertainment, and shopping experiences to the area.

The anticipation for this new addition is growing as Disneyland has announced Din Tai Fung's soft opening date! We are big fans of Din Tai Fung and have tried its food from another location several times, so we will take you through what to expect, standout menu items, and more for when this dining experience comes to Downtown Disney.

Din Tai Fung at Disneyland Overview

Din Tai Fung was founded in Taipei, Taiwan, and it is famous for its Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) and noodles. The restaurant has been named one of the top ten gourmet restaurants in the world by the New York Times and has gathered a following of fans from around the world.

Din Tai Fung boasts a large menu of several other can't-miss items, from a variety of appetizers to steamed dumplings and buns, wontons, greens, and more. When Will Din Tai Fung Open at Disneyland?

Disneyland previously shared that the restaurant would be opening in the summer of 2024, but we now have an opening date! Construction progress has been moving forward quickly at the restaurant in Downtown Disney.

Disneyland shared that Din Tai Fung will be serving guests a limited menu for its soft opening starting June 24, 2024 as it prepares for its official grand opening in July!

The building structure and park area nearby look great and really have us excited for the new location and renovation of Downtown Disney.

Where Will Disney Din Tai Fung Be Located at Disneyland?

Din Tai Fung will be located on the west side of the shopping, dining, and entertainment district Downtown Disney. See a Downtown Disney map for a directory of all of the current shopping and dining locations!

The area is still actively under construction. You can see the concept art below that Disney has shared for an idea of what the exterior will look like. This looks like a really elegant design that goes well with the welcoming atmosphere of Din Tai Fung. Something I've always been impressed by each time I go is how kind and attentive the staff is. Din Tai Fung always offers incredibly efficient, top-quality service!

The Downtown Disney Din Tai Fung is sure to be a popular addition and one of the best Downtown Disney restaurants when it opens. Reservations will go quickly, especially for dinner and weekends, so if you have your heart set on dining here, you will need to be willing to make reservations far in advance.

The dining will be family-style, so make sure when you're looking at the menu to talk to other members of your party and see what interests everyone to share. Be prepared that Din Tai Fung can be quite expensive, so we recommend resisting the temptation to over-order and pacing yourself. It's easy to let your eyes be bigger than your stomach at this restaurant, but remember that you can always start small and order more if you're still not full.

We are very excited for this location to come to Downtown Disney along with the other new dining locations that have been announced, and we think it will be a great new addition!

Din Tai Fung—Review of Other Location

We are fans of the restaurant and enjoy eating at one of the other Din Tai Fung locations in Southern California. We have tried many of Din Tai Fung's incredible foods and have suggestions on what you can't miss when the Downtown Disney Din Tai Fung opens at Disneyland.

First, Din Tai Fung's signature Truffle & Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao is a dish you absolutely cannot miss. While it's on the pricier side and comes with 5 soup dumplings, each bite is truly a heavenly burst of flavor you won't forget. Din Tai Fung makes this Xiao Long Bao with truffles imported from Italy, and the rich, savory flavors work together perfectly. I personally believe this dish fully deserves its high praise, as it never fails to amaze me no matter how many times I've had it. See the dumplings pictured above!

We also regularly enjoy the Cucumber Salad, which is a perfect combination of flavors featuring Persian cucumbers, mild Fresno chili peppers, and sliced garlic tossed with chili oil and sesame oil. The crunchiness of the cucumbers and the amazing flavor of the dish makes it a perfect choice to start your meal with. For appetizers, we also love the Sweet & Sour Pork Baby Back Ribs, which are crispy and coated in a delicious sauce.

There are so many choices on the menu that it can be intimidating to choose, but keep in mind that the menu items are designed for sharing with other members of your party. Personally, we love the recently added Chicken Xiao Long Bao, any variation of the Spicy Wontons, the String Beans with Garlic, and the Pork Chop fried rice. If we want to mix it up from dumplings, any of the Fried Rice options are always excellent.

For dessert, be sure to try the Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao, which is a chocolate truffle in mochi. This is truly a chocolate lover's dream, and each bite is filled with sweet, rich flavor.

Also, make sure to explore Din Tai Fung's impressive selection of drinks, including options like milk tea, iced green and black teas, honey lemonade, and a selection of signature cocktails. The Black Milk Tea is a standout in particular, with the premium Assam black tea imported from Taiwan and brewed in-house.
