The Halloween season is right around the corner, and Disneyland has already started revealing sneak peeks of what’s to come before the celebration kicks off in late August, like changes to Oogie Boogie Bash’s main entertainment offering and a first look at Halloween foods coming.

Haunted Mansion Closure Dates for Holiday Overlay

This year, the Haunted Mansion closes on August 8 and reopens as Haunted Mansion Holiday on August 21, the first day of the Halloween celebration. It will run through the duration of the Christmas celebration, which usually ends the first week of January.
The long duration of the overlay has long been a topic of discussion among fans. The overlay is always extremely popular when it runs, but some wish the traditional version were around for more of the year.
The overlay, featuring characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas like Jack, Sally, and Oogie Boogie, includes festive theming that shows what happens “when two holidays collide.”
One of the highlights is the elaborate gingerbread house featured in the ballroom scene. Each year, teams at Disneyland create an impressive new creation, like last year’s, which paid homage to the raven. We’re looking forward to seeing what they come up with this year!

We also got a major upgrade to the Oogie Boogie animatronic at the end of the ride last year, so it’s possible we could see more surprises this year, though we are assuming the closure is just for the standard overlay installation.
