Updated 9/16/18. Disneyland officials have announced a fourth hotel at the Disneyland Resort. This will be the first new four diamond hotel opened at the resort in almost two decades. The hotel is slated to begin construction in 2018 and open in 2021–just a few years after the much awaited Star Wars Land opens in 2019.
The new hotel will sit in between what is now the Disneyland Monorail Downtown Disney stop and the Disneyland Hotel. The new Disneyland hotel promises to transform the location and to become the gateway for the entire resort.
The new Disneyland hotel will include 700 new bedrooms and multiple floors of landscaped area to create a relaxing oasis. Guest rooms will offer sprawling views of Downtown Disney and a new restaurant and lounge with views of the iconic Disneyland fireworks.
The bottom floor of the hotel will remain a part of the Downtown Disney district with shops and restaurants surrounding a new landscaped area with beautiful water features. The other goal with this new hotel is to connect all four of the main Disneyland Resort hotels as this location sits right in the middle of all of them.
There has not yet been any theme or name announced for the hotel. We will have to wait and see if they choose to give the hotel an overall theme or if different sections will be themed to different themes in the same way that the different towers of the Disneyland Hotel are themed to different lands from Disneyland Park.
Also just announced is a new 6,500 car parking structure that will be located next to the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure and 6 additional lanes for traffic to be able to get into the parking structures. A 2,00 car parking structure will also be built specifically for Disneyland Resort Hotel guests.
The new hotel seems to sit in the location of the Rainforest Cafe, ESPN Zone, AMC Theaters, Starbucks, and Earl of Sandwich. There is a possibility that some of these retailers will move into the hotel once it opens.
**As of now, the hotel is officially on HOLD while Disneyland works out conflicts with the city.
