New Location For Popular Disneyland Dining Spot Being Added, Progress Being Made on Porto’s Addition

Downtown Disney, the Disneyland Resort's shopping, dining, and entertainment center, has been undergoing a transformation that will introduce new diverse dining locations as well as a new lawn and stage area for special events and entertainment. As part of this transformation, a popular dining spot will be opening a new location soon.

Disney just announced a couple of new restaurants being added to Downtown Disney and now there's news of another additional location opening up.

Earl of Sandwich—which serves specialty sandwiches, pizza breads, soups, salads, wraps, and more—will have a temporary pop-up location added this winter as the reimagining of Downtown Disney makes progress. Keep reading for details on this new location and what this likely means for the big addition that will eventually take the place of Earl of Sandwich.

Earl of Sandwich New Location

The current Earl of Sandwich location in Disneyland is the old location of the La Brea Bakery Cafe. This location will eventually be home to an exciting new popular restaurant chain.

Porto's Bakery and Cafe will eventually be taking the Earl of Sandwich's spot in Downtown Disney, but there has been no statement yet on when the current Earl of Sandwich location will close to begin on construction. With the opening of the new Earl of Sandwich pop-up location, we are likely one step closer to the construction and opening of Porto's Bakery and Cafe, which will be offering items like their signature Cheese Rolls, Refugiados (Guava and Cheese Strudels), Potato Ball, and more.

We anticipate that Porto's will be one of the best Downtown Disney dining locations when it opens! There was crazy positive response to the announcement of Porto's coming to Disneyland at the last D23 Expo.

According to the Disneyland Magic Key Instagram account, the Earl of Sandwich will be opening a temporary pop-up shop in the west end of Downtown Disney District this winter. This winter could refer to any dates between Dec. 1 and the end of February according to the OC Register.

While there is no news yet on the exact location of the new pop-up location beyond that it will be near the Star Wars Trading Post Location and when it will become available, it is possible that this announcement was made in advance of news that the current Earl of Sandwich location will be closing in Downtown Disney to make way for Porto's. It is expected that additional construction will be completed to enlarge the current footprint of the Earl of Sandwich location that is currently available within the old La Brea Bakery location before it can open.

Disney has confirmed that it is possible that two Earl of Sandwich locations could be open temporarily at the same time. This news doesn't necessarily mean that the current Earl of Sandwich location will be closing when the new location opens, but we would not be surprised at all if that were the case. You can see a map of Downtown Disney for an idea of where this new location could be added.

Either way, there is still a lot of a ways to go until we can all line up for Porto's at Disneyland but this is a step in the right direction. This is also good news for Earl of Sandwich fans who would like to see their great offerings also stick around in Downtown Disney once the restaurant opens.
