One Big Thing – DOZENS of New Food Items Debut This Week

new foods coming to the Disneyland Resort

Over the last week, Disneyland has quietly released some major new food additions debuting at several dining locations across the parks. They released the new foods in batches in individual Instagram posts, and all put together they added up to be a huge release of new items. These include a plethora of new dessert items, breakfast items, drinks, churros, savory items, salads, and more. We were quite surprised to see so many new items with the Disneyland 70th Anniversary start date just a few weeks away. We anticipate that celebration will bring a big amount of new food items also.

These new items will debut this week on Wednesday, April 30. While we love all of our favorites at the quick-service locations throughout the parks, it did feel like it was time for Disneyland to mix it up a bit with some new offerings. Perhaps some will end up making our list of the best foods at Disneyland! While there are too many new additions to list them all here, we wanted to call out some of the new items that look the most interesting.

We recently reported how there are a handful of new breakfast options coming to the parks, including the new Bengal Breakfast Bowl at Bengal Barbecue (white rice, scrambled eggs, fried spiced ham, gravy, and chile oil) and Breakfast Cheesy Pretzel Bread at Maurice’s Treats (cheesy garlic pretzel bread with scrambled eggs and sausage).

An abundance of new desserts is coming to locations at both parks. It’s actually quite difficult to narrow down what we’re most excited to see, but highlights include the Raspberry Shake topped with whipped cream at Smokejumpers Grill, Neapolitan Macaron (chocolate macaron with vanilla bean buttercream and strawberry sauce) at Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream, and Matterhorn Puff (filled with cheesecake, lemon curd, and fresh blueberries topped with white chocolate and snow sugar) at Edelweiss Snacks. San Fransokyo Square is getting a couple of new desserts as well, including an Ube Cake Flan (ube cake and vanilla flan) from Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill. There are also some new churros coming, including a Banana Cone-Nanza Churro at Cozy Cone 1 (classic churro topped with banana cream and crust dust).

There are also some new refreshing drinks and treats coming just in time for the summer. Royal Street Veranda will have a new offering, the New Orleans-inspired Sno-Ball, which comes with up to two house-made syrups! We’re also looking forward to trying new drinks at the parks, like a Peach Lemonade with Peach Rings at Harbour Galley (lemonade and peach purée garnished with peach rings and rimmed with chile-lime seasoning) and a Passion Fruit Mint Julep at Mint Julep Bar (passion fruit, mint, and a hint of lime). There are also some new coffees incoming, including a new beignet Cold Brew at Tiana’s Palace (beignet-flavored cold brew, which is also available with a cream topper)!

We’re excited to see that the salad offerings are expanding with lots of new options. Highlights that have caught our eye include the Barbecue Salad at Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree (chopped brisket, romaine and kale mixed greens, cucumber, carrots, corn rib, and chile-lime vinaigrette) and the plant-based Strawberry Pecan Salad at Royal Street Veranda (Romaine and kale mixed greens, fennel, strawberries, candied pecans, and strawberry vinaigrette.

There are also some new savory items coming to a variety of locations at both parks, including some interesting items like the Pastrami Sandwich at Flo’s V8 Cafe (sliced deli-style pastrami, Swiss cheese, pickle chips, shredded lettuce, and mustard on fresh-sliced rye bread) and Fried Pickles with buffalo ranch at Smokejumpers Grill.

We’re really excited to see these changes that will expand the food offerings across the resort with a variety of new offerings!

Important Disneyland Dates This Week

  • The walkway between Cars Land and Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure will be closed for an extended time starting Tuesday, April 29, due to construction impacts. You can see details on this closure and how long it will last here.
  • On Sunday, May 4, Star Wars Day, a new Jawa Sipper and Salvaged Clone Trooper Bucket will become available. This is the final release of all of the other new Disneyland Star Wars popcorn buckets and novelties already available during Season of the Force.
  • There is a significant batch of new ride closures coming up this week. Some of these ride closures will be quick, while others don’t have a reopening date yet. All of these are happening ahead of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration. You can see details on the rides closing in our “New Disneyland Ride Closures This Week” section below.
  • Carnation Cafe is closed for refurbishment this week into the next and will be reopening on May 10. This is a shorter closure than the recent extended refurbishment that recently happened at Jolly Holiday, another one of our favorite Disneyland restaurants on Main Street U.S.A.
  • A new build-your-own lightsaber offering is coming to Galaxy’s Edge on Sunday, May 4. See those details and new photos revealed in our separate article here!
  • Disneyland After Dark Star Wars Nite has party nights this week on Tuesday, April 29, Thursday, May 1, and Sunday, May 4. Tickets are still available for this event for all nights except May 4. See our guide to Disneyland Star Wars Nite for more details. We attended one of the first parties, and you can see our Disneyland Star Wars Nite review for details on our experience and whether or not it’s worth it! Also, check out our Disneyland Star Wars Nite food guide for a full list of all the galactic dishes you can enjoy with pictures and descriptions.
  • We are finally approaching the end of the Spring Break crowds, and we expect lower crowds during the next week. The end of this month in particular is one of our recommended best times to visit Disneyland. You can expect to see higher-than-normal crowd levels in Galaxy’s Edge on May 4, Star Wars Day, as fans celebrate this day. However, we don’t anticipate that this will have an overwhelming impact on the park as a whole because there is still a special event closing the park early that night, which will likely deter some guests from making their park reservation for Disneyland Park that day.
  • You can now score reservations for a brand new Disneyland tour, A Story of Celebration: 70th Anniversary Guided Tour at Disneyland Resort. In this two-hour guided tour you will learn Disneyland facts and hear rarely shared stories, ride classic attractions like the Disneyland Railroad and Mark Twain Riverboat, use the Lightning Lane entrance for another attraction, get reserved seating for Paint the Night while enjoying Disneyland’s famous popcorn, and take home a special keepsake. The cost is $120 per person and tours begin May 16.
  • Say cheese! New facial recognition turnstiles are now up and running at both parks and the Disneyland monorail park entrance. This new system will streamline the process to get into parks.
  • Dining reservations for Father’s Day brunch at the Plaza Inn are now open for June 14 and 15! This is a good reminder to get a park reservation for Father’s Day weekend now, too!
  • Pride Nite Tickets are currently on sale to the general public! See details in our Disneyland Pride Nite guide here and our review of the party from last year.
  • Reservations for the World of Color Happiness Dessert Party and Paint the Night parade dining package are now available! You can see details and dining package menu offerings in our separate article here.

Disneyland Operational Updates

  • Disneyland has shorter hours of operation this week with Disneyland Park open until 10 pm and Disney California Adventure open until 9 pm. The parks will have longer hours on the weekend (except for Sunday at Disneyland Park, which is an event night). Star Wars Nite will close Disneyland Park early at 8 pm on April 29, May 1, and May 4th. On these nights, Disney California Adventure will be open until 10 pm. Expect crowds to rise around 6 pm in Disney California Adventure due to Star Wars Nite and the mix-in for the event starting at that time. With the early park closures this week, arriving earlier in the day is best. Also, parking around 5-7 pm at the parking structures will be much busier, with guests coming in for the event.
  • The World of Color – One show runs each night. The Mickey’s Mix Magic projection show and Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga will show every day except Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday due to event nights. Fireworks will be shown along with the Mickey’s Mix Magic projection show on the weekend (except for Sunday, which is an event night). Fantasmic! will also play on the weekend.
  • Disneyland has not announced a parade that will be offered in the time between now and the 70th anniversary celebration (click here for details). There is currently a Mickey and Friends Cavalcade along the parade route at Disneyland Park twice a day. Disneyland will be bringing back Paint the Night and Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration starting in May 2025.

What We’re Thinking About This Week

  • Emily is excited about the Salvaged Clone Trooper Bucket debuting on May 4! This is a really cool one. She is happy to see so many Star Wars popcorn buckets and other novelties available right now.
  • Gavin is hungry, looking at all the new food items. He looks forward to diving in and seeing what new items is best and what will stick around.
  • Lindsay is excited to see such a big lineup of new food items especially expanded breakfast options. It seems like we’re always trying to grab a quick bite in the morning as we rope drop and more options make this so much easier.

Other Disney Content We’re Watching

Each week we’ll share some of our favorite information and fun content from across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube in an effort to spotlight some of the great creators who work so hard to share details from Disneyland.

First up, we wanted to share this video from Anne (@magicintoontown on Instagram) sharing a look at the Andor season 2 premiere last week! The first few episodes of the season are now streaming.

Next, we wanted to share this fun video from Megan (@themagicalmillennial_ on Instagram) showing an extended interaction with Darth Vader at Disneyland! This experience is normally only available if you have a Disney Visa card, but during Season of the Force, it is available to all.

We also wanted to feature this video from David (@_freshbaked on Instagram) documenting when Disneyland first started using the new scanners at the entrance gates. You can see his commentary and how the lines were pretty long as they are getting adjusted to this new system.
