New Star Wars Build-Your-Own Lightsaber Offering Introduced at Disneyland and Disney World

The Star Wars celebration Season of the Force is currently taking place at the Disneyland Resort, bringing a variety of limited-time special offerings, from special Star Wars merchandise to appearances by Luke Skywalker and an impressive new projection show. While many of these offerings are currently available, there are some more that will debut on “Star Wars Day” on May 4, including a new build-your-own lightsaber hilt theme that will also be available at Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World’s Hollywood Studios.

Disney previously shared a sneak peek at this storyline when describing the Disneyland Season of the Force offerings, and we now have more details on what this new Savi’s Workshop offering will entail. Keep reading for more details!

New Savi’s Workshop Lightsaber Offering Debuts Soon

The new hilt theme, called “Reclaimed and Reforged,” will be available for a limited time at Savi’s Workshop at Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios starting May 4, while supplies last.

This new hilt theme invites guests to construct a lightsaber out of “remains of ancient battles, crashed ships and other abandoned pieces of scrap” that have been scavenged from across the galaxy. This theme is new and only available for a limited time, but it joins the four other themes offered year-round at Savi’s Workshop: Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental Nature, and Protection and Defense. Like the other experiences, you can choose a kyber crystal that will make your lightsaber red, blue, green, or violet.

When guests enter the experience, they will be provided with lightsaber parts based on their chosen theme and a cloisonné pin. Each box of parts from “Reclaimed and Reforged” includes the following:

  • 1 hilt
  • 4 sleeves (pick 2)
  • 2 emitters (pick 1)
  • 2 pommel caps (pick 1)
  • 2 sets of activation plates and switches (pick 1 set)

You can see a few of these parts from this new lightsaber hilt theme in the photos above and below.

For many guests, getting to build your own lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop is often a one-and-done experience, especially considering the price (upwards of $200 per lightsaber). Recently, Disneyland dropped reservations for the build-your-own droid experience. Demand is not as high for these offerings as it used to be, so limited-time offerings like these serve to reignite some interest and the potential for some to repeat the Savi’s Workshop experience with a new hilt theme. The individual scrap metal pieces that were offered for a while were popular, so it’s a smart move for Disney to roll out an entirely new lightsaber option for this limited-time offering.

  1. I love the lightsaber build experience. Sadly, they’ll likely be sold out of the limited edition hilt offerings by the time I can get to the park again. I have 4 lightsabers now in two beautiful cases I found on Amazon in my den. My husband ran tiny LED lights around the inside front class of each case and it looks amazing.

I do wish they’d have a permanent 5th or even 6th option so I’d have an excuse to get another on my next trip!
