There have been several major new additions to Downtown Disney recently as the shopping and dining district continues its ongoing reimagining. One of the most highly anticipated additions is Porto's Bakery, a popular Southern California destination famous for its Cuban pastries and savory dishes. This project has been rather slow in development, as it was first announced 2.5 years ago, and there were even some rumors that it had been cancelled until Disney recently confirmed its construction and shared concept art for the space.
We now have news of another major milestone for Porto's at Disneyland, as Disneyland has filed a permit for demolition of the current buildings that the new space will occupy. Keep reading for more details! You can also see our full guide to Porto's at Disneyland for everything we know so far about this location.

NEW Disneyland Porto's Bakery Progress
After Earl of Sandwich opened its pop-up location in Downtown Disney, we have been waiting for the next step, which would be the main Earl of Sandwich location closing for construction to make way for the new Porto's. Now, according to a post by Theme Park IQ on X, Disneyland has filed a permit to demolish the Earl of Sandwich building as well as two ticket booths. The permit entry describes the intended demolition of the 2,610 sq ft bakery/restaurant and both of the two 865 sq ft ticket booths.
We knew when Disney shared the concept artwork for the space that it was going to be massive, but we're surprised that they are removing the ticket booths. When we first saw the concept artwork, we wondered if it was making the space look larger than it actually was, but all signs so far indicate that the scale really will be this grand.

Disney has still not shared details about the opening timeline beyond that it will be opening in 2025, which is not a surprise, as this will be a huge project. This will be the first Porto's location with sit-down table service and a full bar, and visitors can also pick up treats from the Bakery and Cafe, which we imagine will be like a standard Porto's location.
We're really looking forward to this new addition and hoping that work progresses quickly on the project!
