Magic Kingdom is the original Disney park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida opening on October 1, 1971. Construction began in 1967, following the success of Disneyland Park in California, shortly after Walt Disney’s death. Roy O. Disney, Walt Disney’s older brother, postponed his retirement to ensure Walt’s dream of Disney World became a reality. At the park’s dedication, Roy Disney famously said, “Walt Disney World is a tribute to the philosophy and life of Walter Elias Disney… may Walt Disney World bring joy and inspiration and new knowledge to all who come to this happy place.”
Magic Kingdom Park is divided into six themed lands: Main Street U.S.A., Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. Magic Kingdom Park has over 40 attractions and there are more new Walt Disney World rides and experiences coming in the future.
