This coveted drinkware provides unlimited refills the entire trip, and Disney is switching things up on how guests will use these mugs going forward.

A New Twist on the Classic Refillable Mug
Walt Disney World hotels offer Disney Rapid Fill refillable mugs for $22.99. The mug can be refilled every 2 minutes at any Disney World hotel, not just the resort you’re staying at, for 14 days, starting on the day you purchase it. This is an awesome deal, going back decades, and has become a staple for many families staying at Disney resorts.

You refill the mug yourself at the resorts’ fountain beverage stations, or in some cases, a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine. The mugs are also valid at resorts’ self-service Joffrey’s Coffee kegs.
Disney Rapid Fill mugs aren’t valid for refills inside the theme parks, but they still earn their keep, especially on longer trips of several days or more. As a bonus, you go home with a fun souvenir. I love finishing a long park day by stopping by the food court on the way back to my hotel room and filling up my mug with some gourmet hot chocolate.
The designs on the cups change from time to time. Years ago, Disney had unique designs for every hotel. These days, all resorts carry the same design, but guests can still choose among different colors for the lid and handle.
A new accessory was recently introduced for Disney Rapid Fill mugs: character handles featuring Pixar friends.
They are super cute and come in a few varieties.
The handle accessories cost $4.99 and match the current Disney Rapid Fill design of cute Pixar illustrations. During visits to the gift shops at Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, I saw handle accessories available for:
- Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story
- Mike Wazowski and Sulley from Monsters, Inc.
- Joy from Inside Out
I chose Buzz for my handle accessory. The package comes with two accessories, one for each side of your Disney Rapid Fill mug’s handle. They are rubbery.
The accessories snap into place easily. If multiple family members purchase a few sets, you could mix and match characters so you don’t have the same one on both sides of your handle.

Here’s a look at my Buzz handle accessory and the Pixar mug, shot from different angles so you can see the variety of characters. There are some deep cuts here, like Sox the cat from Lightyear and Heimlich from A Bug’s Life, and WALL-E! Unusual for the mugs, they do not say “Walt Disney World” anywhere on the design.
The sign advertising the handle accessory at the gift shop labeled the new product as being part of Cool KIDS’ SUMMER, which lasts now through September 8. These may stick around longer than that, or could be introduced with new designs after that, but if you like this product, and especially this particular set of designs, I would purchase it before Labor Day to be safe.
Cool KIDS’ SUMMER also includes new permanent and limited-time attractions and special perks at select hotels.
