Disneyland Park Overview

Disneyland Park is the original Disney park at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, that opened on July 17, 1955. Walt Disney oversaw the creation of this park, which he intended to be a place where “age relives fond memories of the past” and “youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future,” according to his opening-day speech. Disneyland is the only Disney park that Walt Disney himself stepped foot in.

Since the park's creation, it has expanded significantly and now has nine different themed lands: Main Street U.S.A., Frontierland, Adventureland, New Orleans Square, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Bayou Country, Mickey's Toontown, and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Disneyland currently has 40+ attractions, and there are more new Disneyland rides and experiences coming in the future.

Disneyland Park Lands

Disneyland has 9 different lands, each offering uniquely themed rides, characters, shopping, and dining.

Main Street U.S.A: This is the first land you'll encounter when entering the park, themed to an idealized turn of the 20th century American town. This land features various shops, restaurants, and vintage vehicles. This is also where you'll find Mickey and friends meeting guests throughout the day in different spots in Town Square.

Frontierland: Frontierland is a land located to the west of the Main Hub, themed to the Wild West. This area includes the popular coaster Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Tom Sawyer Island across the Rivers of America.

Adventureland: Adventureland is a land themed to tropical locales and exotic adventures located to the west of the Main Hub. This area is home to the popular thrill ride Indiana Jones Adventure and the classic boat ride Jungle Cruise. This land is also where you'll find the popular frozen Dole Whip treat, which is available at Tiki Juice Bar and Tropical Hideaway.

New Orleans Square: New Orleans Square is a land themed to 19th-century New Orleans, located in the west of the park along the Rivers of America. This area is home to classic attractions including the boat ride Pirates of the Caribbean and the dark ride Haunted Mansion, as well as the upscale Blue Bayou Restaurant, which overlooks Pirates of the Caribbean.

Fantasyland: Fantasyland is themed to Disney's fairytale stories, located to the north of Sleeping Beauty Castle. This area is home to several classic Disney attractions geared towards younger kids like Peter Pan's Flight and “it's a small world,” the coaster Matterhorn Bobsleds, and much more.

Tomorrowland: Tomorrowland is themed to sci-fi and visions of the future, located to the east of the Main Hub. Some of the most notable attractions here are the Star Wars-themed Star Tours simulator ride and the Space Mountain roller coaster.

Bayou Country: Bayou Country is located to the west of the park, themed to the animals of the forest and adventure. This area is home to the water ride Tiana's Bayou Adventure, and you can also meet Winnie the Pooh characters here.

Mickey's Toontown: Mickey's Toontown, located to the north of the park, is themed to the classic Disney characters and animated worlds. Highlights of this land include the dark ride Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway and the opportunity to meet Mickey at Mickey's House.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is Disneyland's Star Wars-themed land located to the northwest of the park. Here, you'll find Disney's immersive Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride and a life-sized Millennium Falcon.
