One of the most popular deluxe resorts at Walt Disney World is the Polynesian Resort and Disney is in the process of building a new Disney Vacation Club tower to further expand the offerings at this property. This new Island Tower will have similar Polynesian inspirations as the resort of the resort with a water front view.
Renting Disney Vacation Club points to stay at deluxe resorts at Walt Disney World is one of my favorite money saving hacks. We have used this trick frequently, most recently at Animal Kingdom Lodge in the DVC studio rooms. So even if you are not a Disney Vacation Club owner, this news is exciting for all guests since this is just one more method to expand affordable access to these deluxe hotels plus anyone can reserve these more luxurious rooms!
Disney recently revealed new design details for the DVC Island Tower coming to Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows at Walt Disney World Resort along with the dates you can begin booking your reservation for these brand new rooms!

NEW Island Tower at Polynesian Resort
The new Island Tower coming to Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will have a beautiful waterfront view of Magic Kingdom with design elements inspired by the South Pacific islands which keeps it within the theme of the rest of the Polynesian Resort. The 10-story tower's architecture was inspired by early concept art of the Polynesian Resort from Walt Disney Imagineering.
New design elements will include a ceiling art installation in the tower’s lobby inspired by the South Pacific Islands that showcases a variety of wildlife. Each animal has a strong connection to the islands and symbolizes important values to the people of the region.
The lobby will also include sculptures created from recycled fishing nets to chandeliers created from living moss plants. Walt Disney Imagineering partnered with various artists to create this stunning artwork all influenced by the Polynesia heritage, spirit of conversation, and Disney magic.
Walt Disney Imagineer Madelin Day describes the inspiration behind these details, “Our main story narrative focuses on celebrating Polynesian wayfinding and the natural elements of water, earth, wind and fire. During the artwork development, we focused on three guiding principles: Polynesian stories, sustainability stories and Disney stories. This new tower features works created by contemporary Polynesian artists as well as artwork featuring subtle nods to ‘Moana’ and Disney Legend Mary Blair.”
I love the blend of inspirations here especially with the incorporation of Mary Blair's legendary artwork style.
The Island Tower also aligns with Disney's 2030 environmental goals by using 30 percent less energy and will include the first-all electric kitchen on Walt Disney World Resort property in the tower's restaurant.
The tower will offer a variety of room types that can sleep two to nine guests including duo studios, one and two bedroom villas, and two bedroom penthouse villas. The tower will also include deluxe studio rooms which will increase the overall availability of these deluxe studio rooms at the Polynesian. I imagine these deluxe studios will follow a similar concept design to the new DVC Tower at the Disneyland Hotel.
This is one of the most popular deluxe resorts at Walt Disney World so this is great news to see more rooms added to further increase availability at this resort. In fact, this is one of the first resorts to sell out when we see Walt Disney World hotel discounts released!
