Disneyland reopened the Tomorrowland theater with a new Pixar Short Film Spotlight on May 22. This new experience is available from 11 am to 6 pm. The 18-minute segment features Pixar shorts like Luxo Jr., Lou, and Smash and Grab.

The Tomorrowland Theater has been closed since 2020 and previously used to show different movie previews along with the Star Wars: Path of the Jedi movie.

Pins

Disneyland just changed the pin trading rules with a new policy prohibiting displaying pins on benches, chairs, or tables. The policy also now prohibits the use of pin trading binders to trade, instead asking guests to only use lanyards or small hand-held pin trading accessories.

This rule change removed the tradition of trading in large groups in Frontierland with binders, and now that area has been repurposed into a space for kids-only pin trading as of May 22. You can see what the area looks like now below. See the update on the change here.

3. More Seating Added to Edelweiss Lodge

Edelweiss Snacks expansion

Disneyland expanded the seating area by Edelweiss Snacks with more chairs, tables, and increased shade. This is a big improvement to this area, which previously had limited seating, so this addition is great, especially with the popularity of the new Bluey show on this side of the park.

You can see what the new seating area looks like below.

4. New Free Scavenger Hunt

Disney scavenger hunt

Disneyland is also now offering a new free scavenger hunt called Mickey’s Park Rangers. Mickey’s Park Rangers scavenger hunt is an interactive quest through the park, which includes Tom Sawyer’s Island, Rivers of America, and the Disneyland Railroad.

The hunt will have guests traveling around Disneyland by train and boat to discover and collect all the clues.

There are so many fun activities in the booklet, including steps to becoming a Mickey Park Ranger, along with a Ranger Pledge. Once you complete all the quests in the activity book, you get it stamped, and then you receive a free sticker.

5. Free Star Wars Lightsaber Experience

A new way to experience Savi’s Workshop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is now available for kids. The price of a lightsaber session at Savi’s Workshop costs $250 at Disneyland, and previously, only guests who purchased this experience could go inside.

Now kids can go inside to experience the new Youngling Saber Building Expo – A Loth-Cat Crew Experience. Guests can visit Savi’s Workshop to learn about the lore and legends of the ancient art of lightsaber-building, with the possibility of some hands-on lightsaber-building.

This experience is recommended for guests ages 3-9. This is primarily for entertainment, but guests can purchase a lightsaber after if they want.

6. New Mandalorian Themed Star Wars Ride Change

Mandalorian and Grogu

Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge changed to a Mandalorian & Grogu themed experience on May 22. This new version of the ride features the Mandalorian and Grogu, and riders travel to one of three Star Wars destinations. The engineer now gets to pick a destination of Bespin, Coruscant, or Endor.

The addition of the Mandalorian and Grogu is a win, as these characters are much more beloved than the obscure Hondo Ohnaka. The new responsibilities for the engineer are night and day compared to that role’s previous tasks. Read our full review of the ride changes here.

7. New Disney Character Dance Parties

There are two Disneyland character dance parties available now in Tomorrowland at Disneyland and Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure. “Stitch’s Interplanetary Beach Party Blast” has returned and features Stitch and friends at Tomorrowland Terrace. Over at the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land, “Disney Friends Dance Party” takes place in the evenings after “Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!” ends for the day.

This new dance party features a host coordinating things with free-roam characters engaging with guests as part of the experience.
