Anyone who has been to Magic Kingdom knows it is hard to fit everything into just one day. In fact, we usually recommend spending two full days at Magic Kingdom in order to experience all of the attractions, entertainment, and restaurants. Although it's important to slow down and take some time to enjoy the park, there are a few ways to save time during a jampacked day at Magic Kingdom.
We visit Magic Kingdom several times a month and have learned ways to save time and make the most out of your day at the park. Some of these hacks may require spending a bit of extra money, however it can pay off in the end especially if you don't have a lot of time allotted for this large park.
Below are our top 10 time-saving hacks to consider for your next trip to Magic Kingdom!

1. Arrive Earlier than Usual
If you plan on driving or taking an Uber/Lyft to Magic Kingdom, you need to consider the extra time it will take to get to the park's front gates. Magic Kingdom's parking lot and rideshare drop off areas are located at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), which is where guests will go through security and have access to customer service booths for ticket purchases or other issues. Instead of simply walking to the front of Magic Kingdom from the parking lot like all the other Disney parks, all guests must take the monorail or ferry. The process of walking through the TTC and getting to Magic Kingdom via monorail or ferry boat can take an additional 20 minutes or more. We usually recommend taking the monorail because it is usually faster than the ferry, however sometimes it's not available.
This extra travel time between the parking lot and front gates should be considered especially if you want to rope drop the park in the morning or if you've booked any Lightning Lane reservations.
2. Take a Minnie Van to the Park
The fastest and most guaranteed way to get to Magic Kingdom quickly is by booking a Minnie Van, which is operated by Lyft. Minnie Vans are driven by Disney cast members and have special access to Magic Kingdom, including bypassing the TTC and dropping you off right in front of Magic Kingdom! Minnie Vans can pick up guests almost anywhere throughout Disney property, including your Disney resort. Unfortunately, they cannot pick you up at non-Disney hotels or at your home if you are local.
However, if you want to guarantee a quick and seamless drop off at Magic Kingdom, I recommend a Minnie Van. Although they are a bit more expensive than regular rideshare options, they will help save you a ton of time getting into the park. Minnie Vans can be booked through the normal Lyft mobile app, and also offer special accommodation requests such as those with wheelchairs or strollers.
Other Magic Kingdom Transportation Options
The only other transportation option that drops you in front of Magic Kingdom and bypassing the TTC is the Disney buses, one of many free transportation methods at Disney World. These also transport guests throughout Disney World property, however, the timing of when they will actually pick you up from your resort is not guaranteed. Although they are super convenient, the buses are not quite as reliable as the Minnie Vans.
Guests staying at the various resorts along the monorail also have the extreme convenience of taking the monorail directly to Magic Kingdom or by using convenient walking paths from the Contemporary Resort or Grand Floridian Resort. Please note, if you are not a guest at any of the resorts along the monorail, you cannot be dropped off or park in their parking lots in order to get to Magic Kingdom.
3. Rope Drop Popular Attractions
If you want to ride the most popular Magic Kingdom attractions, we highly recommend “rope dropping” the park early in the morning! This means you should be inside the Magic Kingdom gates at least 30 minutes prior to park opening. Keep in mind that Disney resort guests get to enter the parks 30 minutes early due to Early Morning Magic hours. Resort guests will get a jump start on getting in line for rides, and staying at a Disney resort will also help save time through this perk.
The most popular rides to rope drop at Magic Kingdom are TRON Lightcycle / Run, Seven Dwarves Mine Train, and Peter Pan's Flight. These three attractions typically have the longest lines throughout the day, and therefore being one of the first in line to ride will save you a ton of time for the rest of the day. We recommend rope dropping which ever ride you do not have a Lightning Lane booked.

4. Prioritize an Individual Lightning Multi Pass for Tiana's Bayou Adventure
Currently, Tiana's Bayou Adventure is the only ride at Magic Kingdom that currently uses a virtual queue system. This means, at 7 AM and 1 PM each day, guests can use the My Disney Experience App to request a spot, or boarding group number, in line for the virtual queue. Although guests don't have to be in the park for the 7 AM queue, they must be inside Magic Kingdom at 1 PM in order to request a virtual queue spot. Once their boarding group number is called, they can wait in the standby queue. Keep in mind that the virtual queue boarding group number does NOT guarantee that you will ride the attraction. Additionally, once you enter the standby queue, you will likely have to wait another 20-30 minutes or more to ride Tiana's Bayou Adventure.
Therefore, we also recommend prioritizing a Lightning Lane Multi Pass reservation for Tiana's Bayou Adventure. This method allows guests to move through the standby queue faster and increase their chances of getting on the ride compared to the virtual queue system.
5. Shop After the Park Closes
Although it can be tempting to shop at Magic Kingdom's gift shops throughout the day, I recommend saving the shopping until after the park closes to save time. Although it won't hurt to peruse the gift shops and scope out potential purchases, it can be easy to spend too much time in the shops.
Most of the gift shops, including the Emporium on Main Street, stay open at least 30 minutes or more after the park closes. Although gift shops can get pretty busy at the end of the day, you are able to enjoy more of Magic Kingdom's attractions when the park is open. You are even able to get in any line for an attraction minutes before park closing! Therefore, guests can save tons of time and get more out of their day by waiting to shop until the park closes.
6. Grab Coffee or Breakfast Before Rope Drop
I can't start my day without coffee, and in order to save time, I always get in line for Starbucks during rope drop. For those who haven't rope dropped Magic Kingdom before, they usually hold guests on Main Street before letting the crowds in when the park opens. This crowd control method allows for more guests to scan into the park before it opens and can hit the ground running once inside.
Starbucks is located inside the Main Street Bakery, which is located on the right side of Main Street once you enter the park. The bakery also sells an assortment of breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and other drinks to help jumpstart your day at Magic Kingdom. Since you are already waiting in line to get into the park, you might as well save some time and enjoy a quick breakfast on Main Street!
7. Consider the Locations of Each Attraction
Magic Kingdom is Disney World's largest park and is separated into six distinct areas including Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Frontierland, Adventureland, Main Street, U.S.A., and Liberty Square. Although it's pretty easy to navigate through the park, I usually try to save time by hitting all the attractions and shows that are within the area I am currently in. For example, if I want to book a Lightning Lane for Space Mountain in Tomorrowland, I will try to hit all the other Tomorrowland attractions I want to do around the same time as my Lightning Lane reservation. That way, I won't have to walk back and forth between opposite ends of the park, saving lots of additional time.
Another thing to consider is when the parades and fireworks are happening throughout the day. For example, it will be very hard to navigate between Adventureland, Fantasyland, and Main Street U.S.A. during a parade. Therefore, it's important to make sure you are in a convenient area during these times. The My Disney Experience mobile app will have a list of all parade and fireworks times to be adequately prepared.
8. Book an After Hours Event
Magic Kingdom After Hours are back for 2025! If your priority is riding attractions and enjoying snacks, I highly recommend purchasing a ticket to one of Disney World's After Hours events. I personally think you get the most bang for your buck at the Magic Kingdom After Hours since there are so many attractions that you can enjoy. During these events, guests can experience extremely low wait times for most attractions throughout the park – most of which will have no wait at all. The price of the ticket also includes unlimited ice cream novelties, popcorn, and select bottled beverages throughout the night!
These events last three hours between 10 PM and 1 AM, however guests with After Hours tickets can enter the park as early as 7 PM. I love getting to Magic Kingdom early enough to grab dinner and enjoy the Happily Ever After fireworks show before the event begins. After Hours are one of my most recommended time saving hacks and I will absolutely be taking advantage of them next year!

9. Grab Food During Slow Times
Another time-saving hack at Magic Kingdom is to eat during the slower times. For example, I try to wait until after 1:30 PM to have lunch, which is when most of the other guests have grabbed food already and the lines are shorter. Otherwise, I will have an early or late dinner and avoid restaurants between 4:30 and 6:30 PM. Not only will the lines be shorter, but there will likely be more tables available if I want to eat at the restaurant.
If available, I always mobile order food from quick service restaurants regardless of the time of day for a short wait time as well. Even mobile orders can pile up during peak dining hours on busy days, so I always try to pick an odd time to order food.

10. Snack During Parades or Shows
Another easy hack to save time at Magic Kingdom is to grab a snack before you find a spot to watch the parade or other shows throughout the day. There's nothing better than grabbing a delicious Dole Whip and watching favorite characters stroll down Main Street in the Festival of Fantasy parade! When I'm with a group of friends or family, I usually suggest splitting up to find a good spot to watch the parade or find snacks for everybody. Since you are already waiting for a parade to start, you might as well fit some snacking time into the process!
