Disney World Check Out Time

Grand Floridian Resort & Spa lobby

Check-out time at Walt Disney World Resort hotels is at 11:00am. This time, however, doesn’t need to have an impact on your day. If you have a $0 balance on your room tab, or a card on file to pay your tab, there’s no reason for you to stop at the front desk to check-out. At 11:00am, you’ll automatically be checked out.

If you want to get a head start on your day, and won’t be at the resort at check-out time, you’ll need to take care of your luggage in advance. To do so, you can drop your luggage off at Bell Services. Bell Services will hold onto your luggage until you’re ready to leave, allowing you to enjoy your day.

Visit a Disney World Theme Park

Festival of the Lion King

One way you can fill your final day of vacation is by visiting a theme park. Some Guests don’t prefer this option, because they don’t want to pay for a full day’s ticket and only be able to visit the park for half a day. Even so, others enjoy visiting a park every day of their vacation, even if it's only for half a day.

The most popular park to visit, when you only have a short amount of time, is Animal Kingdom. Many Guests already consider Animal Kingdom a half day park, so choosing to visit it on your last day is perfect! During your time at Animal Kingdom, you can enjoy a safari, go on an animal trek, watch live entertainment, eat specialty foods, and ride some of the park's popular rides and attractions.

Since you’ll only be at the park for a short amount of time, it would be beneficial to arrive early and prioritize your favorite rides and attractions. You may also want to consider purchasing Lightning Lane Passes, so you can swiftly move through even the most popular of rides. For tips and tricks on tackling Animal Kingdom in the morning, take a look at our article Animal Kingdom Rope Drop Strategy: Top Rides, Lightning Lane Tips.

While Animal Kingdom is the most popular half day park, you can visit any theme park you’d like! Just keep in mind the short amount of time that you may have and make sure to prioritize everything that you want to get done.

Splash Around at a Water Park

Blizzard Beach

At Walt Disney World, there are two amazing water parks – Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Both of these water parks offer a wide variety of water activities, including water slides, lazy rivers, wave pools, splash zones, and kiddie play areas. A visit to one of these water parks would be a perfect activity on a departure day.

The operating hours of the water parks also make them nice for a final day visit. Usually opening in the later morning around 10:00am and closing in the evening around 6pm, these hours provide a perfect opportunity for those looking to have a fun time while waiting for their later flight.

Both water parks also have changing rooms and showers available, providing a perfect opportunity to get cleaned up before you head home. Make sure that you take plastic bags to keep your wet swim gear in so the rest of your luggage doesn’t get damp.

One-day Water Park Tickets are $74 for adults (ages 10+) and $68 for children (ages 3-9). If you’ll be visiting Walt Disney World again soon, a Water Parks Seasonal Pass may be more beneficial for you. Seasonal Passes are $79 for adults (ages 10+) and $73 for children (ages 3-9).

Disney Water Parks Seasonal Passes are valid through May 23rd, 2025.

Play Miniature Golf

Another fun activity that you can do on your final day of vacation is miniature golf. There are two miniature golf locations at Walt Disney World – Fantasia Gardens & Fairways Miniature Golf and Winter Summerland Miniature Golf. Both locations have two 18-hole miniature golf courses that are uniquely themed.

Fantasia Gardens & Fairways takes inspiration from the film Fantasia and features familiar sights such as walking broomsticks, tutu-wearing hippos, and dancing ostriches. The Winter Summerland courses are where Santa and his elves like to spend time during their time off from the North Pole. Enjoy beautiful snow sculptures as you make your way through this delightful course.

The price to go miniature golfing is $19 for adults (ages 10+), $12 for children (ages 3-9), and free for those ages 2 and younger. Reservations can be made in advance, but walk-ups are also welcome. If you’d like to book your miniature golf experience ahead of time, you can do so by calling (407) WDW-PLAY.

Disney Springs

The most popular place to visit on a departure day is Disney Springs. With 96 shopping locations, 70 dining locations, and 25 entertainment offerings, there’s so much to see and do. The last day of your vacation is a great time to fully enjoy everything that Disney Springs has to offer.

One thing that I especially like to do on my departure day is visit Gideon’s Bakehouse. Since Gideon’s often has long lines, I don’t like to take time out of my vacation to go there. However, I do want to indulge in their tasty treats. Because of this, I like to visit on my last day. By doing so, I can choose to either arrive early and be one of the first ones in or not be in a rush if I choose to join the line later.

Another hidden gem at Disney Springs is the Disney PhotoPass Photo Studio. This is a fun way to spend some time and have last minute pictures taken before you head back home. The photo studio offers a variety of unique backdrops and props that will make your pictures extra magical.

Polynesian Village Resort Lava Pool

Some Guests like to take their last day of vacation to have a resort day. Whether that be by doing activities at their own resort or by visiting others.

If you plan on staying at your own resort, this is the perfect opportunity to have a pool day. The Walt Disney World Resort hotels have amazing pools. Many of which have water slides, splash areas, hot tubs, and poolside bars. Select resorts even have luxury cabanas that are available for rent.

Those who prefer to visit other resorts often opt to make it an exciting adventure through Walt Disney World’s free transportation. The most popular way to do this is by visiting the resorts that are part of the monorail loop. By hopping on the monorail, you’ll be able to visit Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort. You could also visit all of the resorts that are connected to the Disney Skyliner. The Skyliner is directly connected to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and Disney’s Riviera Resort. However, the Skyliner is also only a short walk from Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. It’s also in close proximity to Disney’s BoardWalk, which is a delightful shopping, dining, and entertainment area.

Dining at the Disney World Resorts

Ship Your Disney Packages Home

World of Disney plush toys

The last day of your vacation is the best time to ship packages home if you need to. If you find that you’ve acquired a large number of items, or specifically large items, during your vacation, you can have these items shipped home! This is especially helpful when you can only take a certain amount of luggage on a flight with you.

If you plan on shipping items home, make sure that you keep all of your receipts. The Cast Members packaging your items up will need to see your receipt in order to confirm the purchase of the products.

In order to ship your items, head to the gift shop located in your resort. At the check-out area, let a Cast Member know that you want to ship your items home. After providing them with your address and payment, they’ll handle the rest!
