Topolino Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera hosts the Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends character meal. This is one of the few Walt Disney World character meals currently operating (with COVID modifications). In this Topolino character dining review I'll share a review of the breakfast options, how the character experience has shifted due to COVID, and general thoughts on the restaurant atmosphere.
What You Need to Know About Topolino Character Breakfast:
- The meal features interactions with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck
- Meal is prix fixed: adults cost $42 and children (ages 3-9) cost $27
- The food is very good and more upscale than other character breakfast options. Though you start by ordering one entree, you can ask to try anything on the menu and they will bring you smaller plate versions

During my most recent trip to Walt Disney World, their Florida expert, Brooklyn, was incredibly helpful in getting my hotel all set. I am just as impressed with them as I was when I booked my first Disneyland trip with them years ago.
Topolino Character Dining Review Overview
Topolino is the signature rooftop restaurant at Disney's Riviera Resort. The location is open and airy. The entire complex feels new and fresh as the resort only recently opened at the end of 2019.
You can see my thoughts on the overall ambiance of the resort and transportation tips at the bottom of the review.
The character dining at Topolino runs from 7:30 am to 11:15 am daily and costs $42 for adults and $27 for children. Be sure to also calculate tip.
This can be a difficult reservation to get so you may want to consider our tips for getting last minute dining reservations at Walt Disney World. The difficulty of getting a reservation has also only intensified with the increased spacing between tables to ensure physical distancing for the guests and characters.
I was lucky to be hosted by Disney to cover the restaurant and provide this review of the Topolino character breakfast.
Walt Disney World Character Dining During COVID Review
Topolino is Italian for Mickey Mouse, so it is fitting that the restaurant hosts a character breakfast with Mickey Mouse himself. The character meal includes four characters dressed in their artist attire – Mickey Mouse as a painter, Minnie Mouse as a poet, Donald Duck as a sculptor, and Daisy Duck as a dancer. They all look super cute!
There have been changes to the standard Walt Disney World character breakfast style due to COVID-19 precautions (see our review of the Hollywood and Vine at Hollywood Studios character experience and COVID changes). Throughout the meal, the characters circulate through the restaurant on a predetermined path waving and posing for pictures from a distance. After they make their individual loops, all four characters return for a dance number loop that gets the entire restaurant clapping along.
You can get a good sense of the character show from my video of the experience:
While this experience differs from the typical stop for an autograph and hug character meal routine, the character loops still provide great atmosphere and a perfect way to see your favorite characters.
Like the modified cavalcades and character appearances in the parks, this is a nice substitute for the typical experience that still provides the desired impact of a picture with a character to send home. You can easily capture fun character photos or selfies with them in the background.
In place of the character autographs that are typically collected during a character meal, we were given colorful sheets with the photos and autographs (on the back) of all the characters we saw during our meal.
Overall the character experience was great. The characters are constantly present and it felt like there was always one of the four characters out on the floor.
Topolino Character Breakfast Food Review
The menu at the Topolino character breakfast offers an upscale take on a variety of breakfast options. I really enjoyed the four dishes that we tried at the table.
Though you start by ordering one entree, you have the option to sample anything else that is on the menu if you are still hungry. Our waiter even prompted us with his favorite meal pairings. They also deliver pastries to start off the meal. You will not leave hungry!
Here's a look at our full table of food for the three of us.
This is the Two Eggs Any Style served with bacon and house potatoes. The most traditional breakfast option on the menu, the eggs were fresh, potatoes perfectly done, and bacon crunchy. This plate also came with a choice of toast.
Next up we had the Spiced Sausage Hash which makes me hungry right now thinking about it. The dish is a mix of house potatoes, pearl onions, and fine herbs on top of a toasted English muffin topped off with a poached egg.
Next we had my “side dish”, the sour cream waffle. The sour cream whip was not too dense and perfectly complimented the raspberries and apples on top of the waffle. The entire thing is topped with an orange-maple syrup. They can prepare the waffle in a Mickey Mouse shape if requested.
Finally we had the Wood-fired Butchers Steak. Sitting on a bed of polenta, tomatoes, onions, and watercress this steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare. Ordering this entree really increases the value for the money! This entree item is also great if you are making the character meal an early lunch during one of the final breakfast seatings. I also just had a great breakfast steak at The Boathouse in Disney Springs.
We also tried their signature juice drink, the Pomegranate Dip Cooler, which is MinuteMaid lemonade, pomegranate, and mint. The drink was a little too sweet for me, but was refreshing.
I really enjoyed the food at the Topolino Mickey Mouse and friends character dining experience. The fare was much more upscale than the traditional breakfast food offered at other Walt Disney World character breakfasts, though it was the same price (comparing price specifically to Chef Mickey's). These fresh dish options felt more like something I would try at one of my favorite hip Los Angeles breakfast spots versus the traditional Mickey waffles. That's no criticism of the classics – I'm the one who loves a good Goofy's Kitchen breakfast at Disneyland!
Highly recommend based on the food alone!
Topolino Character Breakfast Atmosphere
The Topolino Mickey character breakfast is located at the top of Disney's Riviera Resort. It was super easy for us to pop over because we were staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort (see our review) right next door. You can also easily get to the resort via Skyliner or an inexpensive Uber of Lyft ride share at Walt Disney World (we found during our recent trip that most Ubers cost somewhere between $8-$12 regardless of where we were going on property).
The hotel is beautiful and the breakfast gave us a nice excuse to explore the Riviera grounds. The restaurant looks towards Hollywood Studios and Epcot. After our meal we went out to the patio for photos and to take in the view.
During our tour of the grounds my sister also enjoyed taking photos at the Tangled and Peter Pan murals located in the breezeway headed toward the Skyliner on the first floor. The murals reflect light and make for beautiful selfies or family shots in the early morning glow. She made a TikTok about this hidden photo spot.
Be sure to check out the cute spot for photos before or after your meal.
Bottom Line: Topolino was a fantastic Walt Disney World dining experience that I cannot recommend enough for anyone that appreciates a more upscale breakfast and very cute character offerings. The proximity to the Caribbean Beach Resort was also very beneficial.
*Note: Disney hosted me for this dining review, but opinions are all my own. This really did blow other character dining experiences that I have paid for out of the water.
