The Disneyland Residence Inn Anaheim Resort / Convention is a newer build hotel located within a fifteen-minute walk from Disneyland with modern amenities.
Almost all of the closest hotels to Disneyland were built a long time ago. They are cleaned-up motels, most decades old. These serve a great purpose for those looking to stay right next to the entrance of Disneyland. These hotels have really shot up in price as demand for hotels near Disneyland increases. For that same price (or cheaper) you can have a far newer hotel with modern features in the room, a higher quality included breakfast, and access to a rooftop pool.
The Disneyland Residence Inn Anaheim Resort / Convention is a suites hotel that has rooms with a separate bedroom and living room area that also includes a pull-out couch bed. The rooms also have kitchens with full refrigerators which make this a great option for slightly longer stays and those who want to cook. Let’s get into our Mickey Visit review of the hotel.

Mickey Visit Residence Inn Anaheim Disneyland Review
This hotel has been on my list for a long time to try for a stay. We were very loyal to staying at the Hilton Anaheim, so I kept a close eye on the construction of this hotel, the Springhill Suites, and the Hyatt House all of which are on the corner of Katella and Harbor Boulevard.
The offerings didn’t disappoint. From the breakfast to the comfort of the mattress, I was very pleased with my overall experience at the Residence Inn.
Residence Inn Hotel Design
The design of the public spaces of the hotel is sleek and modern. The hotel exterior at night is pretty cool with streaks of blue lights along the outside and the sparsely decorated lobby makes this hotel feel a bit more upscale than other offerings in the area. You could almost call this a Tomorrowland-themed hotel. It goes nicely with the fantastical Castle Inn and Suites just down the block.
Since the rooms have the dividing door this is a popular hotel for families. Young kids can go to sleep and parents can stay up. It gives the opportunity to all be in the same place but still enjoy some vacation time. There are only a couple of downsides to this I’ll mention below and they’re really more of a heads-up for those without kids.
The hotel is also right next to the Anaheim Convention Center so some weeks you may see this hotel full of business travelers rather than theme park goers, but during my stay, it was definitely more Disney guests.

The hotel costs around $200 a night though the price can shoot up during the most crowded times of the year at Disneyland and when major conferences are at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Residence Inn Room Amenities
During my stay, I was in the one-bedroom King Suite. For those interested in splurging, you can also opt specifically for the theme park view suites which give you a look out over Disney California Adventure and into Disneyland.
When you first enter there’s a kitchen space with a stove, sink with disposal, refrigerator, stocked cupboards with utensils, and big counter space good to eat dinner around if you decide to cook here. There are four bar stools around the counter.

The stocked cupboards also include a glass mixing bowl that can double as Tupperware with a lid.
This room also has a TV and pull-out couch. In the main room is a very comfortable king-size bed and the bathroom.
Residence Inn Anaheim Bathroom
The bathroom is all in one room and not split at all so it isn’t set up for multiple people to be getting ready in here. The shower is glass and there’s no door separating the toilet from the rest of the bathroom.
I guess you could use the sink in the kitchen to have some people brushing their teeth in the morning if you are taking advantage of all the beds here. This is my one knock on the room layout at the hotel. It's one reason to consider the hotel's kids suite which is actually two bedrooms off the main living room. Those are super cute too and deserve their own full review here in the future.
Residence Inn Anaheim Disneyland Bedroom
The bed was very comfortable and clean. The blankets had a good weight to them and made it easy to fall right to sleep at night. The bathroom was also very clean and modern.
Housekeeping is scheduled every other day for the hotel but you can request to have them come more if needed. Overall the room gets high marks from us for being a great place to land after a long day at Disneyland.
Residence Inn Breakfast
During my stay, breakfast ran from 6:30 am to 9:30 am Monday-Friday and from 7 am – 10 am Saturday and Sunday. Even when I arrived just after 6:30 am one morning the breakfast area was already buzzing. There is tons of seating and lots of space for people to move through to get food.
Be ready for a bit of chaos in the morning as young families get ready to head to the parks. The style of the hotel with the split rooms is perfect for young families as I mentioned, but it also means that the breakfast area is full of kids with families in the morning.
As someone who is constantly writing about how to have the best day at Disneyland and suggesting that people get up early and get to the parks, seeing all of the early morning risers ready to go was a lot of fun.
Residence Inn Breakfast Offerings
The breakfast offerings were slightly different every morning. In the middle of the breakfast room, there is a buffet with scrambled eggs, some kind of meat – bacon, Canadian bacon, or sausage, a potato product, and tortilla. On the side, they had oatmeal with plenty of toppings, a couple of cereal choices, bread, pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit, and finally a make-your-own Mickey Mouse waffle station. There were also tons of different toppings and sauces available including Nutella, peanut butter, hot sauce, cheese, butter, honey, and more.
There was also a wide variety of beverages including a soda machine, different coffee options, tea, hot chocolate, ice water, and more.
That is an amazing lineup of food for an included breakfast. It might be the most substantial that I have seen in Anaheim giving even, the breakfast at the Element by Westin, a run for its money.
Mickey Mouse Waffle Residence Inn
I finally gave in on the final morning of my stay and got a Mickey Mouse waffle. There are make-your-own waffle machines at either end of the buffet. There were options to make both mini and normal-sized Mickey Mouse waffles. This was a ton of fun.
I wasn’t expecting the waffles to taste nearly as good as they did. It was just the standard Golden Malted waffle batter, but it was delicious. Maybe I was just exhausted from three long days of theme park work, but these were some very good Mickey waffles.
Residence Inn Anaheim Hotel Pool
The Residence Inn Hotel pool stands out when compared to many of the other pool options in Anaheim. So many of the older hotels just have a pool in order to include it on their amenities list – even if that pool is in the middle of the parking lot – and check the box. In this case, the pool and hot tub are both large. They feel equipped to welcome the large afternoon crowds when families are most likely to be back at the hotel taking a break from Disneyland.

Residence Inn Rooftop Pool Review
This pool is comparable to some of our other top-rated best pools at hotels near Disneyland including the Hilton Anaheim pool. I like this Residence Inn rooftop pool better because it isn’t completely surrounded by hotel rooms and feels more open to the sky and sun. It was warm even during my visit in the winter.
The pool area also has rentable cabanas. These didn’t appear to be necessary when I was out on the pool, but perhaps in the summer months, this would be worth it if you were making a full pool day rather than going to the parks.
Same thought as the breakfast, the hotel pool was full of kids running around. About the same vibe as the Hilton in terms of families but far more families here than at the pool at the JW Marriott.
Residence Inn Anaheim Workout Area
Typically on my longer trips to Disneyland, I end up with at least one trip to the gym. I always need to stretch after such a long day on my feet and often I will also do some type of weights workout.
The gym at the Residence Inn Anaheim was perhaps the most disappointing offering at the property. There were three treadmills, an elliptical, a couple of stationary bikes, and a random assortment of weight machines. There was no pull-up bar, dumbbells, or cable system of any kind.
I ended up just doing some weights on the floor rather than using any of the equipment here. Above I commended the hotel on having a pool that goes far beyond checking the box just for an amenities list. The gym is kind of the opposite. That said, far fewer people ever step foot in a gym when visiting Disneyland than the amount of people who use the pool. So, we’ll take a better pool area than a gym any day. Also, it was still nice to have a space for stretching even if the equipment was limited.
The gym quality may be more of an issue for those who stumble on this review as a conference goer considering this Anaheim hotel.
Residence Inn Disneyland Hotel Location
The Residence Inn is located about a fifteen-minute walk from Disneyland (that includes hitting a long street light crossing Katella along Harbor Boulevard). Some do the walk faster than that. It’s along a populated sidewalk that many use to get back and forth from their hotels.
The Disneyland ART shuttle also picks up right outside the hotel if you would rather take a shuttle to Disneyland from the hotel.
During my stay, I had to use Uber and Lyft to get to the Disneyland Hotel for different parts of a media event for some of the new offerings at Disneyland. I was a bit worried that the cars would have a difficult time maneuvering to get to the front door of the hotel because it is set back from the street and sits on the busy corner with the long crossing light that I already mentioned. However, there wasn’t ever an issue and Ubers and Lyfts were easily able to pull up to the hotel and access the area.
Other Amenities at the Residence Inn
Conveniently, right next door to the hotel is a CVS, and across the street a Walgreens. Above both of those stores are other similar new build properties.
Parking at the hotel costs $30 per night for all guests. There is a laundry room at the hotel. It costs $5 per use of the washer and the dryer.
There is also room service offered at the hotel through what appears to be a third party. There are flyers promoting the offering around the elevator and when you first check in.
The hotel also has a staffed bar downstairs. This is probably offered because the hotel is very close to the Anaheim Convention Center in addition to Disneyland. The bar is open from 5 pm to 10 pm right now.
There’s a mini-market in the lobby area, but it’s probably less expensive to just pop next door to CVS rather than getting anything here. Right across the way from the hotel is a Coffee Bean which is another way to grab caffeine in the morning – though you’d probably just go to the breakfast for that – or in the afternoon when coming back. That coffee shop has an outdoor patio too which is nice on warmer days, but gets loud with Katella right there.
Overall we were very pleased with the Residence Inn Anaheim and will return here again. It was a great home base for our visit.
We were hosted for this stay by the hotel but all opinions are our own and we never pull any comments. At Mickey Visit, we are constantly trying out different hotels around the Anaheim area to bring you the best places to stay.
