Some Disneyland Ticket Prices Have Increased 114% in Past 10 Years – New Disneyland Price Increases Study

Disneyland ticket prices have increased dramatically since the park's opening in 1955. Long gone are the opening day prices of $1 for admission with each attraction charging for access. Ahead of the expected Disney price increases, we've put together the below study with details about price increases over the years.

Right now, Disney is in a major phase of expansion as several new attractions and lands are headed for Disney World and new rides are in the works for Disneyland. As Disney invests in expanding its offerings for guests, continues to increase pay for the Cast Member workforce, and crowds at Disneyland remain high, we can expect to see prices continue to increase.

We will look at various price increases over the years, including ticket price increases, parking price increases, annual pass increases, Disneyland line skipping increases, and more. You can also see our Disneyland ticket prices listing for the most up to date pricing on all ticket types and our discussion of all Disneyland ticket discounts here. Disneyland Park Tickets Increase

Over the last ten years from 2014-2024, Disneyland has increased its ticket prices each year and introduced some changes to the tiering system for 1-day tickets. Please note that the below charts reflect new prices as of the recent 2024 Disneyland price increase.

During the last decade from 2014-2024, the highest-priced 1 Park Per Day ticket increased in cost by $110, a 114.58% increase, and the lowest-priced option for 1 Park Per Day tickets increased in cost by $8, an 8.33% increase. Note that tiered pricing wasn't introduced until 2016.

From 2014-2024, the highest-priced option for 1 Day Park Hopper tickets increased in cost by $131, an 87.33% increase, and the lowest-priced option for Park Hopper tickets increased in cost by $19, a 12.67% increase.

From 2014-2024, the longest multi-day ticket offered at Disneyland, a 5-Day Park Hopper, increased in cost by $311 from 2014-2024, a 101.97% increase.

These increases are within the context of a broader trend across entertainment of increasing ticket prices to keep up with demand and increasing costs that some have called “funflation”. Pollstar reports that the average ticket price for the top 100 touring musical acts rose from $71.44 in 2014 to $122.84 in 2023, a 71.2% increase.

1 Park Per Day Disneyland Ticket Price Increases

Above, you can see a demonstration of how Disneyland prices have increased for 1 Park Per Day tickets from the years 2014-2024.

1 Day 1 Park Per Day ticket prices have increased from 2014-2024. In 2014, all 1 Day 1 Park Per Day tickets cost $96. Today, prices range from $104-$206 based on expected demand for tickets.

The tiered ticket pricing was first introduced in 2016 and tickets were divided into 3 categories: Value, Regular, or Peak. For example, in that year, a “Value” day of the year cost $95 for a 1 Day 1 Park Per Day ticket, and a “Peak” day cost $119.

In 2020, Disneyland shifted to a 5-tier system, with the lower end starting at $104 and the higher end going to $154 for a 1 Park Per Day ticket. New pricing tiers have been added since that point, including a Tier 6 with prices that went up to $164 for a 1 Day 1 Park Per Day ticket in 2021. In 2022, Tier 0 was introduced and we now have the Tier 0-Tier 6 system we know today, though pricing has increased for certain tiers since that time.

From March 24, 2024 through March 24, 2025, we tracked 34 days, or less than 10%, that were and are sold at the lowest Tier 0 and 55 days that were the highest Tier 6, or around 15%. Disneyland Public Relations confirmed these numbers.

Price increases over the last couple of years have been more significant (for example, a year-to-year increase from 2022-2023 of 8.38% for Tier 6 pricing) compared to less significant increases in previous years like a year-to-year increase from 2020-2021 of 6.49% for the highest tier, a year-to-year increase from 2019-2020 of 3.36%, etc. There were also no increases for nearly two years from February 2020 to October 2021, though the theme parks were closed due to the pandemic for 412 days during this period.

The percent increase for the highest-priced 1 Day ticket tier in the most recent Disneyland price increase was less significant than it had been in the last two years, with a year-to-year increase from 2023-2024 of 6.19%.

As we noted before, the lower end of the 1 Park Per Day scale has stayed relatively stable during the 2014-2024 timeframe. This lowest-priced option has increased in cost by $8 (an 8.33% increase). While the prices have increased for other ticket types, it is worth noting that Disney has made an effort to keep this ticket type an affordable option for visitors who are looking for the best budget option, and it has remained the same price since 2019.

Line Skipping Services Price Increases

From 2017-2024, the Disneyland line skipping services increased in price by $22, a 220% increase. Note that this is calculated based on the starting price currently in place for Lightning Lane Multi Pass but this price could be higher with demand-based pricing when you purchase the service the day of your trip.

Disney introduced MaxPass in 2017 as a way for guests to make reservations on their phones as a variation on the free FastPass program, with pricing at $10 per person per day.

In 2021, the paid Genie+ service was introduced at $20 per person per day, replacing FastPass and MaxPass. The service introduced additional digital offerings to guests like unlimited Disneyland PhotoPass but shifted to only allow one reservation per ride each day. In 2022, prices for Genie+ increased to $25, and this change also introduced demand-based pricing for day-of purchases starting at $25. The price then increased to $30 for advance purchases, with demand-based pricing starting at $30.

In 2024, the Genie+ service was renamed Lightning Lane Multi Pass, though there were no changes made to how the service works. The Lightning Lane Multi Pass cost now starts at $32 as of the 2024 Disneyland price increase.

You can see the graph below demonstrating the changes in the pricing of these services since MaxPass's introduction in 2017.

Annual Pass Price Increases

Disneyland has also made some changes to its Annual Pass pricing during the timeframe of 2017-2024. The lowest-priced annual pass increased in cost by $260 during this timeframe, a 76.7% increase, and the highest-priced annual pass increased in cost by $700, a 66.73% increase.

While the previous annual pass program was replaced by the Magic Key program in 2021 and the names of the different pass types have changed, the tiers of passes in each program have remained comparable over the years (excluding the highest-level Premier Pass type which previously offered access to Disneyland and Walt Disney World).

The lowest-priced pass type, formerly called the SoCal Select in 2017, was $339 and has risen to $599 as of 2024 as the current Imagine Key. The highest-priced pass type, the Signature Plus, was $1,049 in 2017 and has risen to $1,749 as the current Inspire Key.

Note that the highest-price pass type, the Inspire Key, now has blockout dates surrounding the peak time of the holidays in late December through the first days of January while the Signature Plus pass did not. The Magic Key Pass also now requires pass holders to utilize theme park reservations to visit the parks. Some additional benefits have also been added with the Magic Key.
