Disney’s Contemporary Resort is one of the two opening day hotels of Walt Disney World. Since 1971, this resort has been known for its unique A-frame structure and exceptionally modern appearance. Disney’s Contemporary Resort Room Types

Disney’s Contemporary Resort has a total of 655 rooms. This total includes rooms, suites, club level service rooms and suites, deluxe studios, and villas. All of these room types include access to standard Walt Disney World Resort hotel amenities such as pools, dining, recreation, transportation, and Early Theme Park Entry. However, separate, additional amenities are available for each room type.

Standard Rooms and Suites come with a coffee and tea setup, coffee maker, daily newspaper, flat-panel television, in-room safe, ice bucket, iron and ironing board, patio or balcony, pool towels, bathroom amenities, and a hairdryer. Standard Rooms are equipped with a beverage cooler, while Suites have a mini refrigerator. Both the Standard Rooms and Suites can sleep up to 5 adults.

Rooms and Suites with club level service come with all of the same amenities as well as access to concierge service at the Atrium Club or Tower Club, complementary health club access, personalized front desk and Guest services, and secured key access to the club-level lounge. The lounge serves refreshments from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM each day.

Deluxe Studios feature a sleeper sofa, in addition to one queen bed, which makes space for up to 4 adults. The studios also have a kitchenette. The kitchenette is equipped with additional items such as microwave, mixer, paper plates and bowls, plastic utensils, small refrigerator, and a toaster.

Villas boast spacious living and dining areas, a washer and dryer, and a full kitchen. The kitchen includes dishes, glasses, utensils, pots, pans, microwave, mixer, full-size refrigerator, stove, oven, toaster, and a dishwasher. The separate bedrooms allow up to 12 adults to sleep in the villas. In the bathroom, you’ll find the additional feature of a whirlpool tub.

In addition to different room types, there are also different views that are available.

  • Resort View rooms have views of the parking area or obstructed views of Magic Kingdom and Bay Lake.
  • Water View rooms have views of the pools, Marina, or Bay Lake.
  • Preferred View rooms have views of Bay Lake.
  • Theme Park View rooms have views of Magic Kingdom and the parking area.

Average Cost of Disney’s Contemporary Resort

The average cost for a stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort varies depending on room type, view, and what time of the year the reservation is for.

  • Standard Rooms with a Resort View start at $609 per night and can go as high as $1,480 per night for a Theme Park View room.
  • Club Level Rooms with a Resort View start at $1,077 per night and go up to $1,973 for a Theme Park View room.
  • 1 Bedroom Suites range from $1,583 per night to $3,125 per night.

Prices fluctuate throughout the year. Generally, lower prices are seen during slow times, while higher prices are seen during peak seasons. Winter holidays and holiday weekends tend to see the highest prices.

One Unique Thing

While the stunning A-frame of Disney’s Contemporary Resort makes a statement for itself, the inside of the resort has unique features as well. The Walt Disney World monorail makes stops at three different resorts, but the Contemporary Resort is the only resort that the monorail goes inside of. Guests can enjoy views of the monorail breezing by overhead or down below, depending on where they’re standing. This is a fun experience that can only be had at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Dining Options at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Disney’s Contemporary Resort has a variety of different dining options, including quick-service snacks and meals, bars, lounges, and full-service restaurants. There’s also a character dining experience available at this resort.

  • California Grill – California Grill offers delectable, award-winning food, an elegant atmosphere, and amazing views. Located on the 15th floor of the resort, while dining at this restaurant Guests can enjoy views of Magic Kingdom Park and Seven Seas Lagoon. California Grill also offers a unique fireworks viewing experience, dimming the lights and piping the music through the restaurant as the fireworks show takes place over Cinderella Castle.
  • California Grill Lounge – The California Grill Lounge provides a space for Guests to savor a drink or small bites within California Grill.
  • Chef Mickey’s – Chef Mickey’s provides a fun character experience for both breakfast and dinner. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto all visit Guests as they dine on their buffet-style meals.
  • Contempo Café – Contempo Café offers quick-service options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It also provides amazing views of the monorail that passes by overhead.
  • Contemporary Grounds – This coffee counter is your one stop shop for a coffee, pastry, or smoothie when you need a little pick-me-up.
  • Cove Bar – This private pool bar offers specialty cocktails, beer, wine, and refreshing small dishes to Disney Vacation Club Members and Guests of Bay Lake Tower.
  • Outer Rim – This late-night lounge provides a relaxing space to enjoy cocktails, wine, cider, bourbon, and more, while taking in amazing views of Bay Lake.
  • The Sand Bar – The Sand Bar is a quick-service bar and lounge that offers small meals as well as alcoholic beverages.
  • Steakhouse 71 – This family-friendly steakhouse provides delicious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu is greatly inspired by Walt Disney and some of his favorite dishes.
  • Steakhouse 71 Lounge – The Steakhouse 71 Lounge features libations and cuisine that were inspired by the 1970s. 

More dining options are available at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, which can both be accessed by the monorail.

Transportation

There are two main forms of transportation at Disney’s Contemporary Resort – monorail and bus.

The monorail also provides access to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. If you wish to visit other Walt Disney World Resort hotels, you can do so by driving, using a rideshare, or taking a bus to Disney Springs where you can then transfer to a different resort bus.

Pools at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Disney’s Contemporary Resort has two pool areas, which include water features that provide both fun and relaxation.

The Feature Pool is the main pool at this resort. Here, you can enjoy splashing around in the water and sliding down the 17-foot-long water slide. A kiddie splash zone is also nearby where little ones can play in the gushing fountains of water. For a more relaxing time, make your way to the white sand beach, where you can lay out in the sun and enjoy views of Bay Lake.

For a more peaceful experience, head to Bay Lake Pool. This is the “quiet pool” of Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Loud noises and splashing are discouraged in this area, which makes it the perfect place to relax. For even more relaxation, Guests can head to either of the two whirlpool spas that are located in the pool area.

Poolside cabana rentals are also available at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. These private areas include padded furniture, a ceiling fan, flatscreen TV, Bluetooth speaker, Resort phone, fruit tray, and a mini-fridge with complimentary beverages. To rent a cabana, call 407-WDW-PLAY (407-939-7529).
