In order to keep the park magical Walt Disney World refurbishments provide general upkeep and maintain the safety of all the attractions and experiences in the resort.
Disney works hard to try their best to complete these refurbishments in a timely manner so they don’t impact guest experience during peak times of the year. This Walt Disney World closures calendar includes all the ride closures for Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom.

What Rides Are Closed at Disney World in 2026?
Here are all the current Walt Disney World refurbishments you should be aware of if you’re planning a trip in 2026! Walt Disney World may change these dates as these are always just estimates as different factors can delay these projects such as weather or staffing shortages.

Animal Kingdom
- DINOSAUR closing permanently on February 2, 2026.
- This also includes Restaurantosaurus and the rest of DinoLand. You can see more details in our coverage here.
The DinoLand U.S.A. section of Animal Kingdom will be undergoing a reimagining to transform into a land inspired by the Tropical Americas. The land will have two signature attractions, an Encanto attraction and an Indiana Jones experience. Disney shared that the construction will happen in phases, and the land will open in 2027.
EPCOT
- Frozen Ever After will close for refurbishment on January 26, 2026 and reopen sometime in February 2026.

Magic Kingdom
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin – closed August 4, 2025, for a major overhaul that will introduce a new show scene, updated ride vehicles, and gameplay enhancements. You can read about these changes in our article on the overhaul here. The ride will reopen spring 2026.
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – Closed since January 6, 2025 for an extended refurbishment. Planned to reopen spring 2026 with new enhancements.
There is also major construction work at Magic Kingdom to prepare for a new Villains Land, and a Disney Cars-inspired area called Piston Peak National Park. Rivers of America (Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island) permanently closed on July 7, 2025, as Disney reimagines this section of Frontierland into this new Cars-themed area.
Hollywood Studios
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will close permanently on March 2, 2026 to make way for a new Muppets theme opening in summer 2026.
Outside Theme Parks
- Blizzard Beach Water Park is currently closed until February 15, 2026.
- Typhoon Lagoon will close for refurbishment on February 14, 2026.
- The Disney Skyliner is scheduled for refurbishment from January 25 through January 31, 2026 and January 24, 2027, through January 30, 2027.
Disney World Resort Hotel Closures
The most obvious construction that will impact guest experiences right now are the ongoing enhancements at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa hotel lobby and convention center.
The room refurbishment at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort- Riverside is now being extended into summer 2027. The room refurbishment was previously scheduled to finish up in the Magnolia Bend of the resort in February 2026.
Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village, the Samawati Springs pool slide is still closed with no reopening date yet. Rooms are also currently being refurbished at Kidani Village through May 2026. This will be followed by refurbishment work at Jambo House from May 2026 through January 2027.
The boat dock at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will undergo routine maintenance from Jan. 12, 2026, through early April 2026. The dock will be closed and boat transportation will be temporarily suspended from Jan. 12–30.
From now through July 2026, refurbishments are taking place at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, including Bay Lake Tower and the Convention Center.
Through 2026, areas of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are being refurbished. This work includes the reconfiguration of the front entrance roadway and bus area.
Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is undergoing routine exterior maintenance through late 2026. This work may impact views from various locations throughout the resort, and at times, alternate paths of travel may be in place.
Disney’s Beach Club Resort is undergoing routine exterior maintenance through 2027. This work may impact views from various locations throughout the resort, and at times, alternate paths of travel may be in place.
From January 2026 until late April 2026, the Surfboard Bay Pool and the kiddie pool at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort will be closed for maintenance. During this time, the Grand Slam Leisure Pool at Disney’s All-Star Sports will continue to be available. Additionally, Guests are welcome to use the other pools throughout Disney’s All-Star Resorts, including the Calypso Pool, Piano Pool and kiddie pool at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort; and the Fantasia Pool, Duck Pond Pool and kiddie pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort.
From January 11, 2027, through April 2027, the Luna Park Pool, the Luna Park Crazy Play Area and Leaping Horse Libations at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas will be closed for routine maintenance. Guests may see and hear work taking place during daytime hours. However, the Villas Pool and the Inn Pool will remain open for Guests to enjoy.
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn will also see more refurbishment which will continue into 2026. According to the statement on Disney’s website, “Beginning late November 2025 and continuing throughout 2026, refurbishment work will take place in select areas of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. While Guests may see or hear work during daytime hours, most Resort amenities—including dining, recreation, and merchandise locations—will remain available.”
The boat dock at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will undergo routine maintenance from Jan. 12, 2026, through early April 2026. The dock will be closed and boat transportation will be temporarily suspended from Jan. 12–30. Exterior refurbishments at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will continue through the end of 2026. These updates do not impact resort amenities, but guests may experience an impact on views at certain locations and may hear construction noise during daytime hours.
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn will start refurbishment in late November, which will continue into 2026. According to the statement on Disney’s website, “Beginning late November 2025 and continuing throughout 2026, refurbishment work will take place in select areas of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. While Guests may see or hear work during daytime hours, most Resort amenities—including dining, recreation, and merchandise locations—will remain available.”

I hope they do not add an Indiana Jones ride area like in Disneyland. I was really looking forward to the Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland and we were quite under impressed!
