Over 150 dining and shopping venues populate Disney Springs at Walt Disney World, including a new two-story bar. Some of Disney Springs’ tenants have loyal fan followings. At one establishment in particular, a long line consistently spills out the doorway and into the promenade. This is especially true during a limited-time window so famous that we had to try it out for ourselves.
There’s a tradition at a popular Disney Springs shop that only happens for one hour, twice, each day. We visited to see what all the hype was about. Hot Cookies at Disney Springs Bakery During Specific Time Window
Gideon’s Bakehouse is a must-visit for many guests at Disney Springs. The store specializes in creatively flavored cookies for $7, cake slices for $11, and cold brews for $6.50.

Gideon’s is very popular, and an extended line with stanchions is often in use outside.
Here’s a look at some of the cookies: Triple Chocolate Chip, Original Chocolate Chip, Pistachio Toffee Chocolate Chip, and Banana Bread Chocolate Chip.
The shop rotates a changing cookie of the month. We happened to be at Gideon’s during the debut of June’s Cookie Butter Butterscotch Cookie.
Another hallmark of Gideon’s Bakehouse is its aesthetic, a macabre aura with lots of black architecture and spooky props.
The bakery also has lots of hidden lore and secret characters, akin to the level of detail usually only afforded to theme park rides rather than a small cookie shop.
Twice a day, Gideon’s Bakehouse hosts Hot Cookie Hour. From 2 to 3 PM and again from 7 to 8 PM, guests can purchase a warm Original Chocolate Chip cookie baked fresh from the oven, with or without vanilla ice cream.
During our recent visit, we opted for the ice cream combo, which cost $10.65. This was delicious, and it makes me hungry thinking about it.
As you plan your visit to Hot Cookie Hour, keep in mind the line for Gideon’s Bakehouse can get long, especially if it’s a new cookie release day. This was the case during our visit, and we waited over an hour. Time your arrival accordingly so you don’t miss the limited-time Hot Cookie Hour window if that’s important to you.
Despite the popularity of Hot Cookie Hour, Gideon’s Bakehouse management says it’s not the best way to enjoy their cookies.
“Let us be honest with you. We think our cookies are best cooled,” says the official Gideon’s Bakehouse menu. “Why? Because you can taste all the intended flavors. Hot cookies push one flavor forward, and that is chocolate. But we hear you, and we want you happy. We know you sneak behind our backs and put your cookies in the microwave. We want to stop that crime to our cookie by giving you a chance to enjoy our Classic Chocolate Chip straight from the oven.”
In addition to the Disney Springs location, there is another Gideon’s Bakehouse at Orlando’s East End Market, a food hall near Audubon Park and not far from Orlando Executive Airport (ORL). Note that this is different from Orlando International Airport (MCO).

Later this summer, the owners of Gideon’s will expand their domain at Disney Springs with the opening of Six Ravens, a new shop specializing in handpies called “Coffyns”. It looks like Six Ravens will retain the macabre aesthetic that Gideon’s is known for.
Guests with a sweet tooth might also love this dessert at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which we think is better than the park’s viral ice cream sandwich.
