This Animal Kingdom Dessert Might Be Better Than the Viral Ice Cream Sandwich. It’s Cheaper Too

A new ice cream sandwich debuted earlier this year at Walt Disney World and quickly took the Internet by storm. However, it’s far from the only ice cream treat worthy of your time in the parks, and today we’re making our case for one that might just rival the reigning viral champion.

Another dessert at Disney’s Animal Kingdom may be better than the famous ice cream sandwich. Let’s take a look at both treats and where to find them. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including one of our favorite Disney meals at a hidden Mexican restaurant and a new mini water park coming to a future Disney World hotel.

Viral Ice Cream Sandwich Faces a Contender

Cookie Dough Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich

Earlier this year, Disney’s Animal Kingdom introduced the Cookie Dough Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich. It costs $8.99, and it lives up to the hype.

The bottom layer is a brownie. The middle layer is vanilla ice cream. The top layer is edible cookie dough, topped with chocolate chips.

The Cookie Dough Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich initially debuted at Terra Treats, a snack window on Discovery Island, across from Starbucks and near the bridge leading to the park’s Africa area. As its popularity grew and long lines amassed outside the small window, Disney expanded the snack’s availability to an ice cream cart by the Island Mercantile store toward the front of the park.

Pineapple Crisp Sundae

During a recent visit to Animal Kingdom, we tried a different ice cream treat that we think gives the viral snack bar a run for its money: the Pineapple Crisp Sundae.

We were immediately smitten with this snack. It’s a pineapple cake with vanilla ice cream, pineapple caramel, and crispy streusel topping. It costs $7.49 and is available at Tamu Tamu Refreshments, a snack window along the main thoroughfare in Harambe Village in Africa, on the right just after crossing the bridge from Discovery Island, across from Tusker House.

The Pineapple Crisp Sundae isn’t new, but it deserves a shout-out. Although we still love the Cookie Dough Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich, we enjoyed the Pineapple Crisp Sundae even more. It was far more delicious and was freshly made compared to the frozen sandwich.

Dole Whip Pineapple Orange Soda Float

Tamu Tamu Refreshments is also known for its Dole Whips. We tried the Dole Whip Pineapple Orange Soda Float. It costs $6.49 and is made of Dole Whip Pineapple with Fanta Orange and strawberry syrup. See all the Dole Whips available throughout Disney World.

Afro-pop band

We recommend grabbing a treat from Tamu Tamu Refreshments and enjoying the nearby live music performed on the small stage in the middle of Harambe. Two different acts, the Tam Tam Drummers of Harambe and the Burudika Afro-pop band, play here throughout the day. They really get people up and dancing.
