10 of the Craziest Food Items You Can Get at Disney Parks

Disney's food scene has become a breeding ground for innovative culinary creations in recent years. Fine dining and quick service menus throughout the resorts have erupted with unique combinations of tastes and textures. You can still find your burgers and fries or even your Mickey pretzels and Dole Whips, but those are only the tip of the Disney dietary iceberg these days.

As frequent visitors at the parks, we like to experience all the Disney foods, from classic standards to new twists on old favorites (like the many variations of Dole Whip Disney now offers) to the downright weird (animal poop candy, anyone?). We've savored the best of the best, like the legendary bread service at Sanaa and the Monte Cristo at Café Orleans, and we've tried some menu items that never should have been a thing (we're looking at you, Pop Tart breakfast sandwich).

With so many Disney dining locations serving up snacks, drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts at the parks, resorts, and shopping districts, there are always new menu items to explore. Keep reading to learn about some of the strangest ones we've seen recently.

Have You Tried These Unconventional Disney Menu Items?

Each season at Disney parks seems to bring menu changes, and restaurants and kiosks are constantly rolling out limited-time food items for special celebrations like Disney anniversaries, holidays, and festivals. Some of these foods and beverages can get a little bit crazy!

For example, during Disney World's 50th anniversary, Be Our Guest restaurant served a “Squid's Revenge” cocktail as a tribute to the retired 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction, which once resided where Beast Castle now stands in the Magic Kingdom. This nautical-themed libation was a michelada (like a Bloody Mary with beer instead of vodka) with a blue salt rim and a rather unusual garnish: charred octopus tentacle! Needless to say, this creation wasn't for the faint of heart.

Unfortunately—or fortunately, depending on your tastes—this wasn't the only time Disney mixologists decided to garnish a drink with roasted animal parts. EPCOT's Food and Wine Festival often features a “Swine Brine” at the Flavors From Fire Booth near Test Track. This drink contains Jim Beam bourbon, apple cider, and Dijon mustard and is topped with a bone-in pork wing. It's actually a popular menu item that has become something of a perennial favorite at Food and Wine.

Thankfully, you don't have to wait for EPCOT's fall festival to try some unique offerings at Disney parks. We've rounded up ten of the craziest menu items available at Disney World and Disneyland right now or likely in the near future.

Pulled Pork – Jelly Doughnut Sandwich – Eight Spoon Café (Discovery Island, Animal Kingdom)

Disney likes to use doughnuts in wonderfully unexpected ways at its dining locations, and this sandwich at Animal Kingdom's brightly-hued Eight Spoon Café stand in the Discovery Island area might win the prize. It's your basic pulled-pork barbecue, topped with slaw, but here they serve it in the middle of a glazed jelly doughnut.

For more unorthodox doughnut concoctions, try Everglazed Donuts and Cold Brew in Disney Springs, where you can upgrade any of their sandwiches from sweet bread to a glazed donut for an additional dollar, including their “Donut Burger,” “Funky Chicken,” “Breakfast Sammie,” and the cult favorite, “The Grilled Cheeeeeese.”

Chef Art Smith over at Homecomin' in Disney Springs also uses sugar doughnuts instead of waffles in the featured entree, “Fried Chicken & Doughnuts.” There's a veritable smorgasbord for doughnut lovers to explore at Walt Disney World.

Blue and Green Milk – Milk Stand, Galaxy's Edge (Hollywood Studios)

Star Wars fans will know all about these brightly-hued alien animal products which make appearances in Episode IV – A New Hope (blue) and Episode VIII – The Last Jedi (green) and countless other Star Wars titles since. Disney's version of these iconic drinks isn't really milk at all but a frozen, plant-based concoction made with coconut and rice milk. Blue is like a creamy fruit punch, featuring hints of dragonfruit, pineapple, lime, and watermelon, while green milk has more of a subtle citrus flavor. Both are available at the Milk Stand in Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park.

For a twist on these refreshing snack cart favorites, guests can also order them spiked with Bacardi Rum (blue) and Blanco Tequila (green).

Flamin' Hot Cheetos Cupcake – Sprinkles (Disney Springs)

Sprinkles Cupcakes in Disney Springs is known for its unique flavors, freshly baked in small batches throughout the day, and for its innovative pink outdoor Cupcake ATM, which allows patrons to indulge their late-night cupcake cravings as easily as they're able to withdraw cash at the bank. Each month, Sprinkles rolls out a new selection of limited-time cupcake creations, and if the stars align, your trip might coincide with the release of their most bizarre cupcake to date!

The Flamin' Hot Cheetos cupcake features a vanilla cake base stuffed with Flamin' Hot Cheetos and a white cheddar frosting dusted with more crushed Cheetos. It has shown up at the Disney Springs location during the summer months in the past, and it was a special flavor last June, so we could be seeing it soon!

Pickle Dog – Blue Ribbon Corndogs (Downtown Disney/Disney's BoardWalk)

This bold combination is perhaps one of the most controversial snacks at Disneyland, and soon Disney World guests will be able to weigh in on it, too, because Disney's Boardwalk is getting its very own Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs kiosk this year. Although the pickle/corndog pairing is unusual, this snack's composition is fairly straightforward. It's a hot dog inside a giant pickle, wrapped in corn meal, coated in panko breadcrumbs, and served with peanut butter for dipping. If you're not a pickle fan, we daresay this menu item is not for you, but if pickles are your thing, you may really enjoy this one.

Fuzzy Tauntaun – Oga's Cantina (Galaxy's Edge, Hollywood Studios/Disneyland)

If you've ever dreamed of taking a break from your space travels inside a galactic cantina—like the one on Mos Eisley from the first Star Wars film—you'll probably want to experience the immersive atmosphere of Oga's Cantina, the local bar on the planet of Batuu in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park. Here, you can order this curious cocktail, which is essentially a fuzzy navel – Cîroc Peach Vodka, Bols Peach Schnapps, and Simply Orange topped with tangerine and pure cane sugar.

It may sound delicious, but the Fuzzy Tauntaun is slightly more adventurous than your average sweet and fruity mixed drink. The “buzz button foam” on top comes from an edible Szechuan flower—a natural painkiller that will make your lips go numb when it touches them. This strange sensation only lasts for a few moments, but the novelty of it certainly adds to the illusion that you really are in a galaxy far, far away.

Cheeseburger Bao Buns – Satu'li Canteen (Pandora, Animal Kingdom)

Satu'li Canteen in Animal Kingdom's Pandora: The World of Avatar gets quite a bit of hype for being one of the more stand-out quick service locations on property at Walt Disney World, and with good reason. My family enjoys the break from standard theme park fare at Satu'li and rarely misses an opportunity to grab lunch or dinner here when we're in the park. While their customizable bowls with the proteins, bases, and sauces of your choice are always delicious and satisfying, we're highlighting an equally tasty and slightly more intriguing menu item.

The Cheeseburger Steamed Pods are bao buns filled with ground beef, ketchup, mustard, pickle, and cheddar cheese. Served with a boba-garnished vegetable slaw and vegetable chips, this inventive alternative to the traditional beef patty on a bun is a fun mix of familiar flavors and unexpected textures and a great option for those who may not like the more adventurous menu items.

Eternal Flame Cookie and Cake – Gideon's Bakehouse (Disney Springs)

With its dark gothic aesthetic and Victorian-era antiquities, Gideon's Bakehouse is an interesting place to visit, regardless of what's on the seasonal menu. However, if you want to try the most extreme item on the ever-changing list of delectables, we recommend the red-hot Eternal Flame Cookie. Gideon's combines their deep dark chocolate with ancho, cayenne, and cinnamon spice mix, and then infuses it with a “magical essence of cherry,” giving this rich treat a “tingling warmth,” sweetened by the chocolate-covered cherries on top. If you're feeling really adventurous, they also make an Eternal Flame EXTRA Spicy Cookie, which is the same as the original with even more heat and red sugar crystals on top.

I have to confess, the inclusion of this specialty on our list is a bit of a cheat, since it's only available during the month of February for Valentine's Day.

Hot Dog Eclair – End Zone Food Court (All-Star Sports Resort)

Craving a hot dog with ketchup, mustard, and relish, like the one pictured above? What if I told you this particular hot dog is actually a dessert? During the Fourth of July festivities at Disney World last year, End Zone Food Court paid tribute to the classic American cook-out favorite with this rather convincing look-alike pastry. An eclair with chocolate buttercream filling, topped with red and yellow ribbons of icing and green sugar sprinkles, this very sweet treat is served with sugar cookie “fries,” and the “ketchup” is a raspberry dipping sauce. It's definitely heavy on the sugar, but if you enjoy the “it's cake!” phenomenon, you might get a kick out of this dessert in disguise.

If the Sweet Summertime Favorites ‘Hot Dog' piques your curiosity, you may be able to find it again in July of 2024 at End Zone Food Court inside Disney's All-Star Sports Resort.

Monthly Ice-Cream Flavors – Salt and Straw (Downtown Disney/Disney Springs)

This Portland-based ice-cream shop has developed something of a cult following due to its unconventional flavors, such as Arbequina Olive Oil, Pear, and Blue Cheese, and the current Brewer's series, inspired by beers from some of the best microbreweries in the U.S. The flavors here are constantly changing and can differ according to location, but the medley of tastes is always worth a stop at either the Disney Springs or Downtown Disney locations. At Halloween time, they might even serve up an ice cream mixed with creepy crawlies, like mealworms and crickets, like they did this past October!

Bugs! – La Cava Del Tequila (Mexico Pavilion, EPCOT), Frontera Cocina (Disney Springs)

Speaking of bugs, unless you're accustomed to dining on insects, they might be the craziest food item you can order at Disney! You'll find them in the black ant salt rim on the La Cava Top Shelf specialty drink at the popular La Cava Del Tequila bar at EPCOT. This cocktail features Centinela añejo tequila, Alma Finca orange liqueur, rosé wine, Abasolo corn whiskey, and fresh lime juice, in addition to those visible crunchy ant legs and antennae around the edge of the glass.

If bugs and tequila are your thing, the Mezcal at Frontera Cocina comes with a plate of grasshoppers and an orange wedge. Cheers to adventurous dining at Disney parks!
